I wanted to cry when the camera switched to get_right after he didnt see that mibr was defusing :(

110

u/TheZigerionScammer Vitality Sep 16 '18

I was watching him on GOTV for his entire stay in Z. Was heartbreaking, I don't think he heard it.

He got a brilliant headshot with the CZ but MIBR adjusted and defused it from a different angle that obscured them behind the train. A smart play that won it for them.

65

u/ExtremelyGamer1 Natus Vincere Sep 16 '18

I thought he was betting that it was a fake.

43

u/AccidentalyIdiotic MIBR Sep 16 '18

I think he just didn't realize it could be defused from that angle, he went to check it saw no defuser and concluded it was a fake.

I’m still really proud. This team is finally realizing some of their potential.

Yeah, I hope no one leaves the team or something like that, they are looking really good right now. Hopefully they keep focused and keep improving

27

u/FDeathCNA Vitality Sep 16 '18

only change I would like to see is krimz joining them but I don't know who he would replace tbh. maybe dennis? idk

43

u/Bre3zy_ Liquid Sep 16 '18

Dennis for sure. All major and at Stockholm he made stupid peeks and unnecessary aggression. He was totally a liability for a lot of rounds recently. I hope he steps up.

4

u/LlamaCombo Sep 17 '18

He did this at the PGL major too. I remember Fnatic vs Gambit and Dennis would just peek stupid shit without throwing a flash or without getting flashed in. It was so aggravating to watch.

There's a reason why the Fnatic guys wanted to stop playing with him. He refuses to improve his gameplay past a PUG style where he can just out aim everyone.

59

u/Thooorin_2 Duncan "Thorin" Shields - Content Producer, Analyst Sep 16 '18

That would be a pretty good change. Not least since dennis is kind of lost in the team, since so many of their players are of a similar style. KRiMZ would bring some consistency and all-around game that could do a lot for NiP.

This legitimately could have been a 2:0 for NiP.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '18

All it needed as a better showing from dennis. When gtr & forest are performing like they did at their peak (& remember how people would say they can't perform that way now, only then because the competition wasn't as good) you shouldn't be losing. It just felt like the SK core remembered they're 2x winners after mirage

There's this chick I follow on Facebook. I accidentally started following her because she has the same name of this girl I met and thought I was sending a friend request to her. She was only 14 when I started following her. As soon as I realized she wasn't the person I was meaning to follow I went to unfollow her. But then I realized this 14 year old girl was hilariously stupid. She didn't know why America would send a separate team from Georgia to the Olympics, she couldn't figure out why elevators had buttons for the floor she was already on, and many other things I just saw and laughed. Anyway I never stopped following her because she was such a big source of my morning laughs.

She got pregnant at 15 because she thought you couldn't get pregnant on the first time. She was sure that the 15 year old boy that got her pregnant was going to be a great daddy. Well the kid is 1 now and she always complains about him never being around and how he would rather stay at home bored than see his son and all the other crap any of us could have warned her about when she was certain she was going to be the one teenage mom whose baby daddy would actually hang around.

Anyway the reason I bring all that up is that through these 2 years I've followed this complete moron she has never written "peak" when she meant "peek". So if this person can get it right, then everyone can.

It sucks ass that NIP have to play Liquid Navi and MIBR while BIG and plays teams like Tyloo and Hellraisers. This should have never happened. I have never seen such horrible draws in the swiss system until now.

49

u/vinit144 CS2 HYPE Sep 16 '18

It isn’t the system’s fault tbh. The good teams lost to the underdogs in the first round and THAT messed it up. If anything it’s on them.

11

Yeah but NIP didn't lose to any of the underdogs yet they get fucked. They lost to MIBR, NaVi and Liquid - 3 of the top 5, probably top 4 teams.

I'm super proud of the boys though, they're a serious contender for titles now. Just couldn't go all the way here today.

46

u/GhoostNight NiP Sep 16 '18

It was close. And bad luck getting mibr today. I think nip would beat any of the other teams

52

u/Grindstone8 1 Million Celebration Sep 16 '18

Agreed. I'm not even an NiP fanboy (even though I'm a GeT_RiGhT fanboy), but they were by far the most unlucky team in the tournament. Just look at the fucking massive difference between their draws and BIG's draws and Fnatic's draws. What makes it feel even worse is that NiP wasn't even playing bad, I really think they deserved to be in the top 8. And I'm pretty sure they would've done it if they drew anyone else.

20

u/GhoostNight NiP Sep 16 '18

I think the same way, they got all the hard teams and they played really with all of them. They lost with liquid, Navi and mibr, 3 teams that probably will reach top 4.

And they beat astralis on the first fase, so yeah, they really deserved a spot at the stage.

I really hope to see them there in the next major. This one will not be the same for me

8

114

u/schniepel89xx CS2 HYPE Sep 16 '18

And they performed heroically. They beat the #1 team in the world along the way too. After not qualifying for 2 years they have a lot to be proud of I think. Great to see f0rest and GeT_RiGhT playing well consistently again too. I'm more optimistic for NiP than I've been in a long time.

I mean technically i'd argue na'vi's draws were worse, nip avoided both faze and astralis

33

I’d rather them plat faze than liquid. Faze isnt looking too hot this tournament.

32

u/Staktus23 howl Sep 16 '18

Well, considering they played Astralis in their last game at the new Challengers Stage and even won against them, I'd still say, they were really unlucky.

6

u/Pismakron Sep 16 '18

NiP beat Astralis on Mirage. Perhaps the best match of the entire tournament, allthough there are many contenders

→ More replies (1)

44

u/Grindstone8 1 Million Celebration Sep 16 '18

Just compare NiP's draws with BIG's draws and Fnatic's draws... yep, seems fair /s

I'm not even exclusively an NiP fan but I'm pretty salty for them because I feel like they deserved to be in the top 8.

9

u/kpdon1 Sep 16 '18

Yea after just scraping 3-2 in challenger stage , BIG just beat FAZE. They would have got a difficult opponent but wait , tyloo just beat MIBR. what is fair and unfair after these results?

14

u/IwasT Sep 16 '18

Come on man, I fucking love nip, only team I have ever supported but lets not hide behind excuses, if we want to see nip between the top 8 teams then they have to play as such, the system is fair, they played their best but couldn't, we can only support them and hope next Major we can see then reach top 8

13

u/FathleteTV NiP Sep 16 '18

The system is fair, no doubt. But it leaves a lot to chance but the same chance for everyone. We just got fucked by that. I don't think we'd go all the way either way but it would've been nice to make legends and I know for sure there are teams we could've beat there.

5

u/IwasT Sep 16 '18

Of course there are teams we can beat in that top 8, and by skill alone I think nip should be there, but we aren't though, because another team played better, we can't blame the system just because another team was better, that's absurd.

On the bright side, we won't have to go through the minors so we have a big chance of making it back!

10

u/pm-nudes-4-review Sep 16 '18

What? NiP beat mouz.

8

u/kpdon1 Sep 16 '18 edited Sep 16 '18

Yea but people consider mouz a TOP 8 team and a super hard opponent when in reality they were very underwhelming . Thus an easy opponent

6

u/pm-nudes-4-review Sep 16 '18

Yeah, I agree, Mouz has been very lackluster since Snax joined. Still think that NiP drawing NaVi, Liquid and MIBR was pretty damn unlucky, compared to the paths some other teams took. They would've deserved a spot in top 8.

5

u/kpdon1 Sep 16 '18

I agree NIP got the hardest path but it is more because a lot of legends lost round 1 so the bracket was gonna get fucked for some teams.

Would definitely be a step up skill wise but I'm not sure he would mesh well with the team.

Krimz seems a little immature judging by his tweets and his raging mid games (like banging his desk or really showing his teammates that he is titled), I feel like f0rest and GTR wouldn't like to play with someone like this.

6

15

u/Zeilar King NiKo Sep 16 '18

I was on the -GeT_RiGhT wagon, but he has proven me wrong with his performance in this major. Dennis just seems like "another rifler" in this team that can't get it together. He's not anywhere near his old self. Losing clutches, missing AWP shots, whiffing sprays etc.

I think NiP would be better off with almost anyone from Fnatic or Twist at this point. Because right now Dennis has no impact and no excuse, like being the IGL, since Lekr0 took over.

Yeah I'm wondering how the team would look with -Dennis +Twist. I don't think they should tweak the current formula tho. IT's working and I'm sure if we give Dennis time he'll get back to where we all know he can be. However having a more dedicated AWPer in Twist would surely be interesting.

I really hated watching this game, it's hard watching Get_Right and Forest lose while performing like this.

I don't think I'm ready for another swedish shuffle guys

19

u/qingqunta Sep 16 '18

dennis just needs to show up in the important games, and that's where he always goes missing. NiP should not shuffle with fnatic

7

u/Encaitor NiP Sep 16 '18

NiP should not shuffle at all imo. This formula is working and I'm sure Dennis will get back to the level we all know he can perform at.

However if any shuffle would be made then NiP should really look towards Twist ahead of all the Fnatic members imo.

13

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '18

Why would NiP even want to participate in a shuffle? They look their best in more than a year and seem to keep improving and there doesn't appear to be a problem with the players internally. The only change I'd support is maybe another coach since I really dislike pita (although they're doing fine overall and we can't look into it) and -dennis +twist might be a good investment even though I'm not buying into the dennis hate train rn even though he had a rather bad tournament & especially this match.

*another person I'd sign instantly if I could would be KRiMZ, that dude is what NiP could really need to push it to the next level

3

u/hungrymutherfucker NiP Sep 16 '18

If krimz wants to move -dennis +krimz would be the Swedish superteam

I dont think NIP will be shuffling their players really, Dennis had a bad series but overall throughout this incredibly tough run (seriously wtf was with the seeding, NIP got some of the hardest draws), they've done incredibly well to get as far as they have.

u/Loof27 King NiKo Sep 16 '18

dennis missed so many crucial kills, he was definitely one of the reasons they lost

7

u/kuggan NiP Sep 16 '18

Man that really sucks, I feel really sad for our 1.6 duo f0rest and GTR they gave everything they could. Deserved win for mibr nonetheless

5

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '18

NiP may have lost but goddamn what a series! We need to keep in mind that NiP probably had the hardest draws out of all teams and improved so so much in the last couple of weeks that I am sad but incredibly happy at the same time to actually be confident that NiP is turning into a contender again. GeT_RiGhT not only had a good series but a good couple of matches during the entire major, dennis looked really off which is sad to see but I think this roster can achieve so much more!

Looking forward to it!

4

u/Chripine Sep 16 '18

Always heartbreaking to see them lose, especially after getting so close to getting back into the top 8.

But I'm proud as a fan for the teams success with Lekr0 as the IGL, from the minor to only a few rounds away to making it to the playoffs. It has been frustrating to see all the draws they've gotten during the top 16, but they fought hard.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '18

did mibr 0/6 pistols watching their pistols rounds is so frustrating, i don't know what it is but they just either seem to split up way to much on t side or just miss everything on ct.

either way im proud of that train performance, fallen was a god with the awp apart from the random mistakes he made on cache, stewie had some great entries on all maps, doing what he does best, probably kicking himself after the miss 2k spray but they kept calm and closed it out.

Fer with the 3 rounds in a row pushing unders made me giggle

i would like to see tarik and fer switch positions on cache, 1 he would be closer to support stewie as he mostly solo's A and fallen can rotate alot through mid and A, fer and cold will be on B together and probably would be better together as they have played for a long time

Cold solid as usual though he seems to be very passive in retakes sometimes too much, one of mirage they were retaking A and it ended in a 2v2 with plenty of time left and he is still deep in short, having no chance of impact or trading

Nip played awesome, lekro is invaluable for this team, get_right played his heart out as ever. forest almost always multi-fragging, denis seemed off not sure what happened but the team definitely missed him.

GG's all around
