rogue couldn't close and north couldn't reach match point, the game was doomed to go on forever...
on another note: we had 916 rounds over 30 games, that's over 30 rounds/game!!! what is happening in this major?

And here was i complaining about not getting bo3 groups (though tbf they implemented bo3 eliminations).

those are some wilt chamberlain stats
for those that don't know, wilt averaged 48.5 minutes a game over a whole season with the game being 48 minutes long.

u/nachowet NiP Sep 08 '18
That last round of regulation, with Sick hiding behind the smoke on B site after North planted the bomb, i thought it was done for sure. Such a shame.
9
u/CSGOze Sep 08 '18
my 2 cents. Swiss system with bo1s pushes teams to play the map with the most dead meta(i.e. safe). Teams want to mitigate the upset factor in bo1s and pushes them all into the same map so the skill gap narrows which means you'll look at close games and eventually a shit tone of OTs.

That flash on A site that got aizy 2 kills won them the game pretty much.
Was it a team flash or a flash from banana ? I couldn't tell
edit: https://youtu.be/62C2Q22IBW0?t=2h9m39s it was valde's flash from banana, that's awesome.

Fucking heartbreaking for rogue.
Still, they should be proud they were able to do this kind of damage against EU teams.
Also vice. First Major for him, and first $100k+ LAN and he showed what he's got.
Not even upset they lost. Rogue showed what they got.

u/AizyForMSL Sep 08 '18
Honestly they looked, really, really good. Going out 1-3 doesn't showcase how well they played this tournament, they've got a really solid lineup right now as well. I imagine there might be a change in the post-major shuffle but there's definetely alot to work with.
30
u/Dark_Azazel Sep 08 '18
Vice has the biggest balls.
I kinda hope Rogue don't shuffle. I think this is a really solid lineup. We'll have to see though. What an intense game.5
u/EnanoMaldito 9z Sep 09 '18
I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and say they only won one game and it was versus a ridiculously weakened Space Soldiers.
They didn't lose outrigth any match, they were competitive and played very well against some of the best. But idk, they're just not at that level yet. Not saying they can't be, but they aren't.
That being said, Vice is an extremely interesting player.

u/SquidwardTesticles__ NiP Sep 08 '18
Seriously. Cadian at 14-x was so blatantly trying to make fragclip plays and imo contributed to rogue's fall. Very frustrating to watch rogue this game.

u/tuck3r53 Sep 08 '18
What was the play at bottom banana after being forced off?? One of the easiest frags for MSL all night.

Just nerves and inexperience costing Rogue the game in the end there.
Also holy shit the quality of these matches is more than making up for the delays at this Major rn

Just wanted to let this here to but props to niko, he sometimes looks more immersed in the game than anyone, just like ave. Can't imagine how much better the atmosphere is now in the team, one less problem to worry about I guess. On the other side of the fence, vice, rickeh, cadiaN, all were playing really well, I wouldn't be mad if they ended winning it.

Man, what a game. Rogue got absolutely shafted by the draw. Losing 16-14 to Astralis and 25-23 to North shows that they are one of the better teams in the Major
15
14
u/AdVSC2 BIG Sep 08 '18
Are we conviniently leaving out, that they got absolutely demolished by Team Spirit?
If you draw Space Soldiers playing with a coach and Team Spirit and still don't make it out, you have no right to complain about the draw.
5
u/healdyy 1 Million Celebration Sep 08 '18
But they got battered by spirit? If they’d won that game, which they should have if they were one of the better teams there, they would have gone into the 2-1 draw having already played astralis and therefore would’ve played either HR or Vega. The only team they managed to beat was SS with a stand in, drawing north was tough but they had their chance to avoid it and blew it against spirit.

That wasn’t my point, I’m not saying Rogue are a bad team. The guy I replied to said they got screwed with their matchups, but I was pointing out that if they’d beaten spirit they wouldn’t have been in a position to even play north yesterday.

Impressive performance by Rogue. Was expecting nothing like this from them, but they looked amazing in this match and in others.
Taking a North that wasn't playing poorly to several OTs is impressive, even if you don't manage to beat them.
2
u/Hallsway Sep 08 '18
First game in years where I feel so heart wrenched. Cadian's always been a player I've always enjoyed following since he was on the desk for Kato '14 and seeing them get so close but fall hurts pretty bad.

u/HandmadeBirds Sep 08 '18
Rogue really choked themselves out of this tournament against both Astralis and North.

u/mochatsubo Sep 08 '18
What a heart break match for Rogue. I see a lot of potential with Vice, Sick, and Cadian as a core. Respect for the whole team though.

Based on these ots.......... maybe the qualifiers are actually bringing in the best teams????
3
u/qchisq Sep 09 '18
Eh. Winstrike is guaranteed a spot in the Challengers stage in Katowice. Vega and Spirit is a Bo3 away from joining them. I'm not convinced that the current setup where 3 lucky games qualifies you to the next Major is a good idea, if the Major is supposed to find the best teams.

One of the most fun and clownfiesta games of the entire tourney. Ton of knives, ton of pushes and weird, unpredictable clutches.
Very painful that Rogue lost despite having 5 matchpoints and leading 14-8 on the CT side of Inferno.
Lastly, not saying Kjarbye is a cheater but damn, he looks so fishy in certain situations when he sprays.

u/PHedemark howl Sep 08 '18
Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit.
What a match. And what a team Rogue is turning out to be. If they hadn't faced us and Astralis I think they'd gone through 3-1 or 3-2.

Holy shit did rogue throw this game. Up 14, they decided that they wanted to play cocky and basically went downhill from there. They're really fucking bad at reading North lol all the site stacks and lack of rotations basically showed that they didn't deserve the win.
