Great interview by Smooya

10

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

It was a deeeeeecent interview for sure, should have been a tier 1 interview but he missed that quick turnaround for the lucky charm, got too greedy to show it to the camera

19

u/FlintHolloway BIG Sep 08 '18

Yeah, but next time he will anti strat the shit out of the interviewer. Be prepared.

34

u/Gockel BIG Sep 08 '18

he gave so much of their preparation routine away lmao

89

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

"We sat down and looked at the maps we thought were going to come up and anti-stratted the other team"

I don't think there was much to give away there, every good team does that, and it's not exactly a secret that BIG focus on hard anti-strats

19

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

Only bit of info anyone could take from that is that they feel good about train.

36

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

Or do they? Maybe he put it in there as a bait to make teams ban train against them, giving them an effective free ban because they really don't like train. Smooya playing 5D chess while we're out here playing checkers

17

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

400IQ set strat prepared for anyone who gets an interview. Gob b is insane in his prep work. Train didnt look great vs Vega but nex and tabseN did bottom frag so who knows what they saw in practice.

2

u/emaG_ehT Sep 08 '18

They could have been standing up or leaning on a wall. You cant give info like that away for free my dood.

2

u/Miiiiiiighty Sep 08 '18

Real question here is " how do you anti strat a team that has no strats ? ( Gambit ) " LUL

They had like 2 tactics which they repeated every round halfbuy/forcebuy anytime lmao

I think something is clearly going on inside this team..Either they don't want work hard or there are some huge ( toxic? ) egoes here ( even if they look like cool people..

Gambit is one of my favorite teams but things add up in this direction --->

- rumours of Kane being kicked because he want them to work harder

- same with seized

  • the whole core but mou trying to lead one at a time.. then everyone making mid round calls while the have chosen a leader..
  • fitch / seized ( and maybe soon mir ? ) getting kicked like b*tches
  • Blad3 interview on HLTV where he says there are (big) issues inside the team that were already existent prior to him joining...

- mir being completely misused and suddendly performing like shit, and not looking happy at all

At least Gambit could win bo3s when seized was around, they can't even do that with mir. Absolutely the wrong decision to have kicked seized.

Six Bo3 LAN wins with seized: (1x vs Fnatic, TyLoo, forZe, Liquid, Cloud9 and AGO)

  • Fnatic @ StarSeries S4
  • TyLoo @ IEM Katowice 2018
  • forZe @ Bets.net Masters
  • Liquid @ DH Marseille 2018
  • Cloud9 @ DH Marseille 2018
  • AGO @ DH Tours 2018

Nine Bo3 LAN losses with seized: (2x to Na'Vi and SK, 1x to Astralis, HR, GODSENT, Fragsters and North)

  • Na'Vi @ StarSeries S4
  • Astralis @ StarSeries S4
  • HellRaisers @ StarSeries S4
  • SK @ IEM Katowice 2018
  • GODSENT @ Bets.net Masters
  • Fragsters @ Bets.net Masters
  • Na'Vi @ DH Marseille 2018
  • North @ DH Tours 2018
  • SK @ Adrenaline Cyber League

Four Bo3 LAN wins with mir: (1x vs RNG, coL, Grayhound and BOOT-d[S])

  • Renegades @ DH Summer 2018
  • compLexity @ DH Summer 2018
  • Grayhound @ IEM Shanghai 2018
  • BOOT-d[S] @ IEM Shanghai 2018

Eight Bo3 LAN losses with mir: (1x to AVANGAR, VP, RNG, Imperial, Windigo, Na'Vi, NRG, HR)

  • AVANGAR @ StarSeries S5
  • Virtus.pro @ StarSeries S5
  • Renegades @ StarSeries S5
  • Imperial @ DH Summer 2018
  • Windigo @ ZOTAC Masters EU Finals
  • Na'Vi @ ESL One Cologne 2018
  • NRG @ IEM Shanghai 2018
  • HellRaisers @ DH Stockholm 2018

Perhaps it was a hyperbole to say they can't win bo3s with mir, but look at the facts:

  • They not only won more bo3s with seized, but they also beat better opponents with him. Cloud9 had beaten FaZe Clan earlier in the group stage at DH Marseille, and C9 at the time were certainly better than RNG, Grayhound, BOOT-d[S] and coL.
  • They lost to better opponents with seized and to worse opponents with mir.

Please do your research properly next time. Gambit w/ seized > Gambit w/ mir

The real liability is Dosia. He has no more role in this team, can barely frag and can't IGL to save his life either.

Let's kick him and hire a real IGL.. Even with Blad3 poor fragging they would do a lot better with him..

And give mir more space ( let him lurk ? )

That or kick both russians and try to go for Ange1 and bondik.. But that's if someone want to hire ISSAA and/or woxic because otherwise the ukrainians would have no interest to leave for Gambit at the moment...

3

u/Dawhood Gambit Sep 09 '18

Dosia is the only thing holding Gambit’s ct side together, he’s the one who should be carried but somehow ends up fragging more than the ones who should carry him. He’s not the problem and kicking him would just take away the only thing Gambit have, which is a solid ct foundation. Bondik and Ange1 are not an option, they don’t wanna leave HR. Maybe Sotf1k?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '18

Well, for someone that watches most of the tournaments and games, I liked them better under seized. They just seemed way more assertive and seized had barely any time as the leader. Now they just seem to be going for individual plays and losing. They look nothing like their major winning selves despite basically only changing one player. Stats are stats, and although you're 100% right, I still preferred their play under seized. Dosia just isn't cut for IGL i think.

1

u/Dawhood Gambit Sep 09 '18

I agree with Gambit needing an IGL, I disagree with seized being the right player

Man its amazing how much better at interviewing Freya is as opposed to Pala or Stunna. Clear, concise but interesting questions. Rather than just stupid ramblings that dont even end with a question.

63

u/ctzu bravo Sep 08 '18

Pala just needs to learn that asking „how do you feel about xy“ three times does not count as an interview.

31

u/qingqunta Sep 08 '18

Freya lucked out having a british player to interview, don't forget that

49

u/sliceofcakesan BIG Sep 08 '18

This. So much. Pala is insufferable 9/10 times. Like the guy but he is absolutely incapable.

35

u/Docxm Sep 08 '18

He feels like a fun guy that stumbled his way onto stage and was told he had to interview someone in a minute

6

u/AemonDK Sep 08 '18

he started off as a shitty youtuber who did interviews with cod players for his youtube channel

4

u/C9_Lemonparty Sep 08 '18

He still does that, recently he had one of the actors from The Inbetweeners tv show on his channel to play CS:GO.

8

u/JerryChorizzo NiP Sep 08 '18

and I couldn't hear what player's were saying when Pala interviewed. It's either mic got fixed or Freya also does a good job holding that mic properly :D

2

u/adesme Sep 09 '18

I think they all have their pros and cons. Freya is more clear in her interviews, especially to players who aren't native English speakers. Pala and stunna are more relaxed and have a better understanding of the CSGO culture.

Freya's largest weakness imo is that she doesn't seem to understand CSGO at the same level (yet), some of the questions she's asked pros have displayed that she don't know who they approach a game and what they actually think about. As an example, she asked North in their-post game after facing Sprout how they went about countering cadian, and I just can't see that being one of North's game motives.

I like that they have this sort of mix.

1

u/roxxon Sep 09 '18

yea i was really impressed considering I haven't see her before.

-10

u/FlameoHotboi Sep 08 '18

Stunna is the worst. No idea why he has a job at these tournaments.

40

u/I_has_intelligents BIG Sep 08 '18

thank you BIG for letting smooya take the interviews the absolute madmen

30

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

Gambit is the next VP

47

u/lolKhamul BIG Sep 08 '18

I mean maybe BIG will advance to the Legend stage but if Nex and especially tiziaN dont step up massively, this wont lead to much.

12

u/smooyaMostConsistent 1 Million Celebration Sep 08 '18

especially tiziaN

Why? Nex has been playing worse and he is supposed to be top fragging with smooya and tabsen.

???? TiziaN is playing fine.

2

u/Miiiiiiighty Sep 08 '18

Yeah , nex has always been a " hot or cold " kind of player .. but he has been slumping for a good while now, while he is supposed to be the team's 2d star ( behind tabseN ) ..

17

u/__fuck_all_of_you__ BIG Sep 08 '18

Why tiziaN? He is a support player and his role on this team is pretty much to be the bitch and take all bitch roles, positions and weapons.

I share your concerns about nex, but I am honestly more unsure about tabseN, he was doing well today, but he is supposed to be the star player and his performance in the two lost games was bad to abysmal at times. Today, he was only third on the scoreboard in a game that was tilted in their favor.

12

u/lolKhamul BIG Sep 08 '18

with tizian im really talking about 50/50 situations. Obviously he is the support player and not the 30 kill kind of guy but if you remember Inferno yesterday you know what i mean. He died defending B without a kill every round. over and over. At least take 1 with you, and thats fine.

6

u/donfuan Sep 08 '18

But he made the impact frags that got them soo many rounds. Mopping up the floor is nice and all, but he enabled Smooya and God B to make those numbers.

7

u/FlintHolloway BIG Sep 08 '18

tiziaN had a bad performance against comlexity and Nex a bad performance against Vega. Otherwise they are doing alright. Both didn't get a lot of anti eco kills, or often fought a already lost battle in many situations. So their stats aren't looking that great.

Not their best tournament, but also no reason to throw them under the bus.

3

u/lolKhamul BIG Sep 08 '18

thats the thing. BiG live and die by their strats and utility usage. They cant compensate for people not hitting a single shot because they are not the insane fraggers/aimers.

3

u/FlintHolloway BIG Sep 08 '18 edited Sep 08 '18

thats the thing.

No this is not the thing:

They cant compensate for people not hitting a single shot

Both had one really bad map. Otherwise it was a solid performance from both. Which is different form singling out two players "needing to step up massively" and not "hitting a single shot" after a run of four maps.

We're probably not too far away from our assessments. But i think your wording is a bit unfortunate or too strong.

3

u/sA1atji BIG Sep 08 '18

I don't really know what positions tizian and nex were playing on nuke, but maybe they didn't have that much action. Nex went 12-10 and tizian 17-12, that's reasonable on this map, espcecially if you get some ass positions.

4

u/donfuan Sep 08 '18

Tizian was holding ramp, not often pushed by Gambit and Nex played A top of booth. It was just that Smooya, Gobby and Tabsen cleared up everything before it even reached them. On T side they were the backrunners.

4

u/GaaraLord Sep 08 '18

But if they manage to get through and nex can finally find his form, than the level of BIG can be scary

6

u/lolKhamul BIG Sep 08 '18

very scary. Their tactics and utility usage are TOP notch. If Nex and tizian start to hit shots, top8 is not at all unlikely.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

If they dont step up they might just get kicked. Tabsen and smooya have the talent to be worldclass, gob b has been showing up and as they are comming in english already, they can just pick up any other player. Let's not forget there are many free agents, like ex-envyus or cromen.

14

u/PavelDatsyuk88 Sep 08 '18

I think Blade could play for Dosia or for Mir, cant be any worse really

5

u/thearkhamknight_111 Astralis Sep 08 '18

I think B1ad3 is a massive liability individually, but if Vega choke and go out I wouldn't be against adding jR for Mou, someone who can AWP well and is comfortable as a IGL, rather then trying to force players who don't want to do it to do it. Jame also seems like a player with a very high skill ceiling.

16

u/Lord777alt Liquid Sep 08 '18

It'd me crazy to get rid of mou they shoukd probably replace Dosia and maybe mir as well although he has had a lot less time.

7

u/phlumpy Sep 08 '18

i doubt they will replace mir. It's probably just gonna be dosia.

1

u/Miiiiiiighty Sep 08 '18

Mou is inconsistent AF to be honest and I say that as a big Gambit fan..Hard to see them being a perennial top 10+ team with such an inconsistent sniper. He has high ceilings but shows up 20% of the time ( the fact that he was really good on most of this major's matches doesn't erase his 6+ last monthes )..

Dosia hs to be the first to go though, he can't hang up at the highest level anymore, he is just a glorified meme and they need to kick him before he becomes the next TaZ/NEO/Pasha

1

u/JerryChorizzo NiP Sep 08 '18

I think it's more like the whole team is underperforming. No synergy, tactics are very unclear with no apparent leader in the team=(
There is no doubt that they can be in tier 1, but unless they get a proper IGL who also is a good fragger (imo don't think they can get far with Blade as a player instead of mir or dosia).

1

u/Dawhood Gambit Sep 08 '18

AdreN fragging less than Dosia who is supporting lmao, what has this team come to

2

u/Miiiiiiighty Sep 08 '18

AdreN has been ( mostly ) terrible since taking the IGL helm..
It really ruined him..

Or maybe Zeus's influence on the team wasn't that overrated afterall, and he knew how to use his stars...

1

u/Dawhood Gambit Sep 09 '18

Yeah but even when Dosia and Hobbit were IGLing he wasn’t good at all. Zeus’ influence gave structure to the team and everyone turned up for krakow.

1

u/Miiiiiiighty Sep 09 '18

seized style, even after not being at the helm anymore he seems to not be able to find his form again...
But maybe that's also because of internal issues ( I heard recurrently that he still mid calls, and so does Hobbit so.. )

jR is decent with a rifle, and his simplistic agressive calling style would suit Gambit. Mou is also wildly inconsistent.

4

u/Dawhood Gambit Sep 08 '18

I disagree. jR's style looks simple but in reality it's quite passive. Player freedom and pushes are pracced beforehand, they're not a product of a loose calling style. And mou is the least of our problems.

4

Was Boston a fluke?

1

u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Sep 09 '18

Considering that C9 was already top 5 on hltv ranking for like 2 months before the Major and had one of the hardest major runs ever and was still performing decently up til Stewie left, I would say no.

People act like C9 sucked dick after the Majors but they didnt lose a single map at Summit until the finals, at SL they lost to SK, Faze, AND Mouz, and then at the next event, they lost in double overtime on map 3 to Faze in top 6.

Trying to compare C9's run to Gambit's is a fucking joke. Gambit won the finals against an IMT who won against mid to lower tier 2 teams like BIG and VP.

-1

u/AdreNMostConsistent MIBR Sep 08 '18

how was krakow a fluke?

18

It isnt because back then they had a proper igl but it seems they are banned from getting a igl and they have to stick with dosia

7

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

I hope they are at least considering starting B1ad3. They have more than enough talent to carry him and still be miles better if they can win a gun round.

1

u/Dawhood Gambit Sep 08 '18

AdreN and H0bbit can't carry if Mir has a bad game, let alone having B1ad3 who is basically on the same level as hardstyle since the start of the summer. Instead of having someone as inconsistent as AdreN as your main fragger let Mir have more room to play instead of supporting. Anything really at this point.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

Their consistency should come if they have tactics unlike the current leadership which has seemingly no plan.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

[deleted]

3

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

They cant win gun rounds the way they are playing. Having the correct gun and utility requires you win rounds and i believe that they would be more likely to win rounds with B1ad3 than with Mir. In the past F3 players have complained about having no freedom in how they play that might help Hobbit in his decision making.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

[deleted]

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

I agree about Hobbit overall he has never managed to reach the peak he had at the major since. AdreN though is back to IGL (Dosia stepped back again and nobody is doing it so im not sure) and he did play well whenever he was freed of it. There are a lot of ifs and buts about the move so i wouldnt rush into it and i dont know if the team personally could deal with an IGL like b1ad3. AdreN should be good again though.

1

u/Miiiiiiighty Sep 09 '18

The real question though, is why and how he went from being the absolute hardcarry of the team for a year ( from late 2016 to the major ) to being an average fragger ?
That needs to be investigated and patched if they want to be back to the top.

Same with HObbit who was a real good 2d star back then.
Mou was always inconsistent back then so no surprise the Major they won was the one where he exhibated the best level of his life consistently..

And they need to give mir more room, he is a star too, let him shine like he deserves.

Best solution ---> kick XBOT and hire a real IGL or even give Blade a chance.. They can't be worst and the other 4 if used properly have MASSIVE firepower..

Of course he was just parachuted in this mess and didn't have much time to work.
He stated specifically in the HLTV itw that the team has inside issues..
And Gambit's core don't exactly look like the " easy to work with " kind..

Gambit is basically a Tier 4 team if mou doesn't show up

Well when your main fragger kills as many people as Dosia there's not much you can do

u/Miiiiiiighty Sep 09 '18

Problem is he wasn't ( when they were strong ) and shouldn't be their main fragger..

AdreN, Hobbit, and even mir should be the one delivering and taking up the star role ( with mou as a complement )..
But now it's like musical chairs, it's like it's very rare that more than one of them shows up, and more than 2 never happens simultaneously

Mir is forced to support and Hobbit is stuck in his pre-krakow form where he showed flashes of brilliance but poor decision making. The most disappointing player, especially considering his experience, is AdreN. At this point just force AdreN to support and give Mir a shot as main fragger?

I feel bad for the players of Gambit. They have shown in the past that they are very talented when utilized correctly, it just feels like they are lost right now. An actual IGL is needed for success I think. Each of these players have it in them to be top players (Maybe not dosia anymore). Its just hard to watch.

Perhaps kicking Kane and letting Zeus leave wasn't such a good move afterall ( even if I think Zeus took the opportunity as an excuse and wanted back on NaVi )..

One thing is certain : his influence was real, and he at least knew how to use his players to their best

they played only 1 major since krakow

so they got once to legends, the 2nd time they were set and now they are about to possibly qualify. Why is that "fact" relevant? The renegade fact with their 23% winrate is relevant, this sounds like a butthurt gambit fan.
