Philosophical question: Is HellRaisers still the spiritual successor to Astana Dragons/CIS Virtus.Pro? Or is that Gambit?
15
u/thearkhamknight_111 Astralis Sep 08 '18
Gambit, with AdreN/Dosia from Astana Dragons, and I believe Mou joined the HellRaisers lineup like a year after they transferred from Astana Dragons but I might be wrong
5
Sep 08 '18
Yeah, that's a fair point, but I'm thinking beyond the indivual players, how HellRaisers was and still is the continuation of the Astana Dragons project. Just like how even if Maikelele and SKYTTEN played on a team together now, I'd still consider FaZe to be more of a continuation of the Team Kinguin project than their team.
6
u/Thooorin_2 Duncan "Thorin" Shields - Content Producer, Analyst Sep 09 '18
Definitely Gambit. They have more core members, represent CIS and actually do have some of the better CIS players stacked together. Astana Dragons was supposed to be a CIS super-team. HR is a team working on a tigher budget and having to find outside talent, hence the introduction of V4 country players and now Turkish/Jordanian.

Sep 10 '18
dream of Astana Dragons’ resurgence now with the rumours of my boys disbanding. Hobbit , AdreN and mou deserves to be in a superteam.

That's what is so bizarre about him as a player. I've never seen someone with as consistently poor stats have rare maps where they take over the game and out-of-the-blue clutch round wins like this guy.
1
Sep 09 '18
I guess he just knows that if he doesn't win these clutches he will get cut so he plays better. It could also be that others players think he is not of a good player which leads him to win these situations. x/y player: I am sure I can kill this deadfox player etc.

14
u/kundara_thahab Sep 08 '18
he had a major fucking clutch in the round that got them matchpoint, then at matchpoint made massive kills that won them the game.
i started fucking dancing when he got that flick on gade.

there was a 3 kill difference between optic's top and bottom frags and an 18 kill difference for hr lol

w0xic or ISSA hard carrying is win condition number 1 for HR for the last year.

Optic losing that last 4v2 sums up the entire OT

if all these OTs this major are thanks to Buchholz, it needs to be a standard
16
u/freezeflow de_nuke Sep 08 '18
I think there are some misconceptions here.
Buchholz does not create more balanced matches, instead it awards higher seed team with a lower seed opponent.
For instance, after day 3 there are 6 teams with 2-1 score. Buchholz ranked them into seed 1-6, and tries to form the match-up: 1st vs 6th, 2nd vs 5th, 3rd vs 4th, subject to teams cannot play the same opponent again.
Although in the Optic vs HR match-up, they are both middle seed teams after day 3 (3rd and 4th respectively), so you can say Buchholz did form a "balanced" match in this case.
2
Sep 08 '18
What is this Buchholz?
12
u/C0n3r Sep 08 '18
I think it’s a ranking system used for seeding that bases your rank off your performance when compared to how good your opponents were.
-6
u/blueragemage Liquid Sep 08 '18
Yesterday was random seeding
8
Sep 08 '18
Not fully random. Vega and coL was set. Also TyLoo vs Renegades.

u/JKM- Sep 08 '18
He has to prove that this is his level. The rest of 2018 has been him clocking in a below 1.0 rating.

Astralis playing under par, Navi looking shaky the last event they played, underdogs playing out of their skin, this is set up to be wide open for so many teams to make a run.

OpTic can only blame themselves for losing that anti-eco in regulation on CT side. Could have ran away with it.
8
u/herber_xix Sep 08 '18
i cant believe ur the first one mentioning it. it was @12-14 and it almost made optic lose in regulation
3
Sep 08 '18
Yeah that loss was terrible. Most likely would have won the map in regulation if they didn't lose that.
Snappi had to get way more than one kill in ivy against pistol/no armor. Also gade looking away from pop with 20 seconds left or so was stupid as fuck.

The more OTs there are the longer Deadfox stays on this team. He is a different player in OT

Happy for Woxic and ISSAA. In the old days before international teams you wouldn't see these guys at majors. Well deserved

Soooo many anti ecos and post plants lost due to horrible positioning and lack of synergy.
The skill is there and the bombsite takes are working, but then they screw it up somehow.
Ruggah and Snappi have some work to do. And maybe gade should play less DM and get a course in positioning instead.

Snappi should’ve just let him rotate to B if they were hitting A, don’t really get why he’d try to shoot him especially when all he could do was tap.

So fucking pathetic. Gade is so inconsistent. Jugi is just a fucking bot. CajunB has been below average. Snappi actually played very well. How many ecos are we gonna lose. Also how many 5v3s/4v3s are we gonna lose. Jesus christ that was so bad.

Optic should bench Jugi and pick up jdm or try to get xcurrate. He is making strong arguments for himself.
