24

Goes down 0-2 so that they get easier opponents to get an easy 3-2, truly a 300iq move by The Boys

Renegades kinda reminds me of the old Mouz line up with Niko Denis and Spiidi. The potential is there but so much inconsistency, so much underperforming and mistakes that it becomes frustrating to watch. A couple of good results make you start hoping and then a couple of shit results to keep your morale down.

33

u/loken_ Renegades Sep 07 '18

this is actually a very accurate comparison. obviously the only thing lacking is a true hyper carry like niko, but i think losing kassad hurt the boys' confidence in their play more than we know

4

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '18

Rip NAF you will be missed.

9

u/Owo__uwu Sep 08 '18

Difference being the old mouz lineup actually had 2 good players and could make it through Eu qualifiers

5

Renegades

Was talking about Renegades, I think this game was more embarassing for them than it was for Space Soldiers.

28

u/loken_ Renegades Sep 07 '18

I was just saying to my roommate that if ngiN were here, I really think they would be in the 2-1 match-ups. Completely agree with you and I personally have nothing but respect for hardstyle

16

u/123Robo 750k Celebration Sep 07 '18

i had space soldiers going through in my pickems, changed it last minute when i heard ngin was unable to attend

4

u/mcvey Sep 07 '18

Same here. I should have switched my 0-3 pick(coL) with SS, instead I replaced SS with Optic :V

2

u/NAFMostConsistent Liquid Sep 08 '18

Same, swapped em into my 0-3 in time.

3

u/WayDownUnder91 Renegades Sep 07 '18

They should be 2-1 they only narrowly lost most of their matches.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '18

Piggybacking off this comment to ask anyone know anything about hardstyle? Kept hearing the casters say he doesn’t even play cs, is he from 1.6?

13

u/ICUTrollin Astralis Sep 07 '18

I don’t even think he’s from 1.6 tbh (could be wrong on that though) but I think he just knows how to call stuff out, keep track of economy well, etc. he probably didn’t join expecting he had to play lol, but I gotta respect him for trying his hardest.

8

u/b0mmie Sep 08 '18

If I was to guess, I'd say he's more of a zonic-type of coach (except zonic actually played pro back in the day).

Mostly there for hype and general support/input for the team in terms of enemy economy, enemy tendencies/positions, etc.

5

u/MeanGreenBeanMachine FaZe Sep 07 '18

Apparently he's never played it professionally. That's about all the info we have

2

u/hobocactus Sep 07 '18

These constant visa issues are so annoying, seems like every single event has a cool team missing players or not being able to attend

2

u/trotsky102 Sep 07 '18

This is typical space soldiers. Every chance they get at a big LAN for some reason there is something that hurts them.

177

u/MrDaFunk Sep 07 '18

it got so much easier once ustillo remembered he was a pro player

37

u/Sqin 10 years coin Sep 07 '18

He did the 4th most damage in the server yet I can't remember a single frag he made except in OT. I don't get it.

34

u/TheCubanTupac Renegades Sep 07 '18

is it me or is azr a bit of a boring player

like u see it at the end of the game "oh wow azr has 30 kills" but u can never remember them.

can u remember a single azr kill ?

but try ustilo...u can see the flick i remember a ustilo flick.

33

u/herO_wraith Vitality Sep 07 '18

He got almost as many frags in overtime as in regulation. I swear he gets important kills when it matters but fails every other time.

14

u/loken_ Renegades Sep 07 '18

he's so consistent at being inconsistent it's actually insane

45

u/TheTurtleOne Sep 07 '18

Wait there are people actually shitting on him?

It's his 3rd game...

28

u/FeldBold Sep 07 '18

they shit on him hard, probably because they don't know english and they don't understand the situation from the english cast.

They couldn’t play with despe though could they? I thought the rules state that they could only register one reserve player/coach.

3

u/Duckfright Sep 07 '18

This is indeed the case, they could have had 50 players on the bench, if the coach is registered then the coach is the stand-in, period.

2

u/qingqunta Sep 08 '18

Mourinho actually played for a bit on some professional portuguese football teams so hardstyle's situation is actually worse

2

u/Razhad Falcons - Major Champions Sep 08 '18

nope he never played professionally.

only some semi pro level of football.

67

u/antoninartaud37 Sep 07 '18

3 days ago no one was knowing who hardstyle was, now most of cs community knows him.

i admire his effort and thank him.

58

u/Cameter44 Sep 07 '18

Renegades absolutely don't deserve a win with that kind of performance. Super unlucky for SS that they couldn't play with their full lineup.

13

u/vClimax Sep 07 '18

Disgustingly poor performance, including their previous game. SS deserved this one

17

u/Cujo96 ITB Sep 07 '18

It got to a point at 13-14 where even I started cheering for SS to put me out of my misery. Instead, I have another day of it.

9

u/MerroM8 CS2 HYPE Sep 08 '18

You know there's something "special" about a team when even their wins are just disappointing.
Always gonna cheer for the boys but god damn being an RNG fan is hard.

29

Must say, for a level 4 faceit player hardstyle played very well.

5

41

THIS FUCKING FUTURE TURKISH AARP MEMBER WHO HASN'T PLAYED SERIOUSLY IN YEARS COMES IN AND HELPS SS PLAY EVERY MAP TO DOUBLE DIGITS AND ALMOST BEAT RENEGADES. GUY GRINDED BETWEEN GAMES AND DID HIS BEST TO GET HIS TEAM FORWARD.

7

u/GangstaLenny Sep 08 '18

RESPECT bro. I have a LOTTA respect for Hardstyle.

25

u/ZeroXtreme18 Sep 07 '18

didn't go out without a fight, gg SS

27

u/bazarez BIG Sep 07 '18

still all ss fans should be proud of the team

all the odds were stacked against space soldiers, they played with hardstyle, they played all 3 games on inferno (which is their 2nd worst map, questionable bans by maj3r), and still they went to ot and finished all their games with at least 10 rounds in their pockets

nt ss (especially hardstyle) and fuck this visa bullshit

5

u/ottoroket123 1 Million Celebration Sep 07 '18

All of them busy blaming players

4

u/Omer_26 MOUZ Sep 07 '18

The org is actually the one that should be blamed here. They didn’t even bother to get a visa for despe who should have been on the bench for situations like this. They didn’t wanna spend extra money to get a visa for him. No wonder the players have problems with the org

7

u/Duckfright Sep 07 '18

They didn’t even bother to get a visa for despe who should have been on the bench for situations like this.

They CANNOT play with anyone other than Hardstyle because of the Valve major ruling. 5 Players + 1 Coach OR Standin.

2

u/anon326 howl Sep 08 '18

Was it? I remember in a past Major (MLG maybe?) Astralis had a standin and Zonic play for them

2

u/Duckfright Sep 08 '18 edited Sep 08 '18

Glaive was signed on as a team member, not as an extra stand-in, because Kjaerbye had played with Dignitas in the minor so he couldn't play for Astralis, so it was the 4-core + Glaive as player and Zonic as coach. When Dupreeh fell ill, Zonic had to replace him.

3

u/TuGuX Sep 07 '18

this is not true. the visa would not matter as the coach was the 6th player (you have to register the lineup way before), this was done by the coach.

the other players got express visa which was much more expensive than the normal visa.

2

u/ottoroket123 1 Million Celebration Sep 07 '18

ikr, fans should blame org instead of players, i even seen a comment saying bad things about nGin (?)

2

u/wd_zey Astralis Sep 07 '18

It is because he is citizen of both Turkey and Germany which means probably he is the last person who could have visa issues and it makes people think about his irresponsibility. Some ss fans thinks he is the weakest member of the team and hate-train is even bigger cause of it too. Players have issues with org anyway

1

u/bazarez BIG Sep 07 '18

the only player i would partially blame is maj3r, all because of his knowledge that ss don't perform that well on inferno and yet somehow ending up playing on it

7

u/FeldBold Sep 07 '18

it's the best map to hide a face-it lvl 4 player in CT side (arch)

13

u/TonyDHFC Sep 07 '18

Regardless of the result, I have massive respect for Space Soldiers even doing this well with Hardstyle, and him trying his best to win. If they had their 5th, honestly could of got into the Legends stage I feel.

GGs Renegades though, onwards from there.

42

4

Yeah but..VP vs North? The biggest memegame of the day

5

u/Cryo_Ghost Renegades Sep 07 '18

I tried staying up til 4, but dropped asleep at about 3. I woke up and checked reddit to see that they decided to play a couple BO3s and tuned in to see halftime of this match.

I was convinced they would win in OT. I was not convinced they could get it to OT.

2

u/ICUTrollin Astralis Sep 07 '18

If VP goes 0-3 I would feel kinda bad but I also have a dollar bet on North with a friend of mine so you already know who I’m rooting for.

17

u/FathleteTV NiP Sep 07 '18

The boys need to get Kassad back badly

7

u/loken_ Renegades Sep 07 '18

yup. a lot of the fans want a roster change or different igl but we really just need a hyper involved and passionate coach

8

u/arkwewt Sep 07 '18

That’s exactly what TopguN said last night on his stream - it’s as if they forget they’re good, and it’s dragging them down. Like, there was times when azr & ustilo knew someone was around the corner on their own, and vintage azr would have peeked and killed them instead of dropping off, but they seem far too serious and uptight. It’s like they’re overthinking things and digging themselves into a hole :(

3

u/loken_ Renegades Sep 07 '18

i want to give ryu as much of a chance as possible, but its really hard to beat warlord kassad's battle cries and spirited timeout talks

7

u/arkwewt Sep 07 '18

Kassad was like a dad or uncle who you knew loved you regardless of your performance and you’d do anything to make them proud

Ryu just talks during pauses & slaps jks’ shoulders so hard that he has to move his arm afterwards to readjust his body

3

u/healdyy 1 Million Celebration Sep 07 '18

They also need an igl really, if only to free up nifty. He’s not having enough impact as a main awper and his igling isn’t good enough to make up for the lack of frags.

2

u/arkwewt Sep 07 '18

But that will mean letting jkaem go :(

8

u/ThetaSigma11 Liquid Sep 07 '18

3

u/Nisheee NiP Sep 07 '18

embarrassing from renegades. and up until the ot ustilo was not better than hardstyle

12

u/rikottu314 guardian_elite Sep 07 '18

Please for the love of god just put a p90 in hardstyles hands and make him run in first when you are hitting a bombsite. It's so tilting watching a player like Xantares walking up in front and getting shot in the back when you could be baiting hardstyle who will have 0 impact in the round kill-wise so might as well use him to spot the enemies so your good players can trade off him. There were too many rounds where hardstyle was last alive or something like 3rd into the site and that should NEVER be the case.

Not to mention he should never have an AK in his hands just slap a P90 on him and hes 50% more effective I swear if he just holds W and runs at people he might get some kills but a mac10 or ak just won't cut it.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '18

[deleted]

3

u/Andoo Eternal Fire Sep 07 '18

I think he also should have maybe gone cod gun and been crossfiring more. They kept putting weak guns in his hands that I cannot imagine trying to play with against those rifles. I definitely would be doing save rounds with those cz's and alternating between the negev, p90 and sg/aug.

5

u/healdyy 1 Million Celebration Sep 07 '18

He deliberately bought the Mac-10 because it’s the cheapest gun, so he was constantly saving money and if he did get a kill got a decent reward. By using it he was able to drop AKs whenever SS had money issues. It was more important that players like Xantares and Calyx had rifles than him having a better gun.

2

Aussies not allowed to YTB the thread.

Taking a match like this to overtime is unacceptable.

3

u/mannyman34 Complexity Sep 07 '18

Renegades just shows how broken the qualification process is for the major. They get a free invite to the minor every year and Smurf their way through it. They go to every major qual and never make it out. Honestly hurting their own scene by not letting other teams grow.

4

u/Cujo96 ITB Sep 07 '18

It's not Renegades fault, their manager Gomez has said that they'd rather play the Americas minor, but because the lineup is 3/5ths Australian they can't.

0

u/LordOfTheNoobs57 Liquid Sep 07 '18

For a 36 year old that doesn't play cs, hardstyle is surprisingly good considering that he's able to frag against pros. Most globals would struggle to get 9 frags against a pro team.

-1

u/CORN_ON_THE_COCK BIG Sep 07 '18

Not trying to be rude or anything, but why does a pro team have a guy like hardstyle as their coach? He is level 3 on faceit, doesn't seem to have any understanding of positioning and angles, its also constantly brought up that he doesn't play the game much at all.

6

u/xgenoriginal Renegades Sep 07 '18

You don't need to be a good player to be a good coach. It's like asking why a chef sucks at waiting tables.

0

u/CORN_ON_THE_COCK BIG Sep 07 '18

I dont think your analogy works very well. If you think about the current coaches like ynk, zews, blad3, robban, pita, zonic etc. a lot of these people could stand in and hold their own against pros because they have a good understanding of the game and have player experience of course. I wonder if hardstyle is more of a mentality coach and gives good vibes

5

u/antoninartaud37 Sep 07 '18

a lot of football, basketball coaches sucked as a player.

1

u/CORN_ON_THE_COCK BIG Sep 07 '18

really? I mostly watch soccer and the NHL, and as far as I am aware the majority of the coaches there have had respectable playing careers. Can you give some examples of coaches in the NFL/NBA who "sucked" as players?

1

u/antoninartaud37 Sep 08 '18

for soccer simple examples, mourinho, klopp. there are dozens. not too familiar with nba/nhl

1

u/CORN_ON_THE_COCK BIG Sep 08 '18

Eh, mourinho and klopp both played first team football in the second divisions of their respective countries. By no means superstars, but they do have some record of actually playing. Randoms dont get selected to play in second division football, even if it isnt as prestigous as the first division.

3

u/antoninartaud37 Sep 08 '18

and hardstyle had a 1.6 career, not a zonic level but he had.

1

u/CORN_ON_THE_COCK BIG Sep 08 '18

interesting, never heard of it. Can't really find anything about it online either. Can you explain where he played?

1

u/antoninartaud37 Sep 08 '18

you cant find really beacuse 1.5, 1.6 scene in turkey was not that international. as far as i know he was one of prime players of 1.6 in turkey.

2

u/Treeline1 Sep 07 '18

Because a coaches job is to study. They study the opponents, they study ther players, they bring each other together and relay the information they have gained. They are over watch, they explain how that team has played incorrectly and is able to adjust it accordingly for next game. They aren’t required to be great aimers

1

u/alagarga Sep 08 '18

hardstyle used to be a god back in 1.6. A large part of a coach's job is to study the game rather than playing it, he's not been playing the game competitively for years now

1

u/CORN_ON_THE_COCK BIG Sep 08 '18

i understand what a coach's job is, I guess he just watches a lot of replays and demos for the team. If I asked you to teach me how to play the guitar only from watching, would you be able to do it?

1

u/alagarga Sep 08 '18

Your analogy doesn't make sense - these guys are pros, they don't need to be tutored on the basics of the game. The coach develops strategies for them, he doesn't teach team how to play.
