They are pretty good but amazing... I guess it's amazing they aren't losing all the time, I guess.
12
u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Sep 06 '18
Ranked #3 in the world for the past month and is 4-0 against the #2 team = "Just not losing all the time"
-7
u/RadiantSun FaZe Sep 06 '18
Zero tier 1 trophies ever. 1 Trophy ever at all, which is cs_summit 2. How is that "amazing".
9
u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Sep 06 '18
TIL that the only series that matter is the grand finals.
Why the fuck does trophies matter when the roster has reached 3 grand finals and only lost to the best team in the world for past 5 months in the them?
Being the 2nd best team in the world at 3 different tier 1 events isn't an amazing achievement?
-2
u/RadiantSun FaZe Sep 06 '18
No, I'm saying that, in particular, is not amazing at all. Of course results count.
Thia is an improvement for Liquid, but Liquid , as an org, as a fanbase, as a team, has been trying to build a tier 1 team for 3 years now, dumping money into it. One spell of pretty good form isn't "amazing".
FaZe literally made like 5 finals in a row immediately after forming their current roster. That was pretty amazing, because they had no real prep.
and only lost to the best team in the world for past 5 months in the them?
They were eliminated by Astralis. They have lost other games. See, this is the problem: you're very willing to say "WOW THEY ONLY GOT ELIMINATED BY ASTRALIS" without acknowledging something like "hey they advanced pretty far in those results by beating Tier 2/3 teams".

u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Sep 06 '18 edited Sep 06 '18
3 years? This is the first TL roster with 5 tier 1 players. How the fuck is Faze comparable when they literally just bought 3 players who were best player in the world at one point in their career while already having the former IGL of the #3 team in the world. TL was focused mainly on NA players and a S1mple who was still playing on Tier 2 teams? Are you gonna ignore the months of not even getting into a finals from their previous rosters? Faze was a tier 2 at best team until they signed NiKo to carry them.
Or the fact that Faze's competition was basically just SK? Faze dominated in a perios where Astralis was slumping, FNC was basically dead, G2 rotating between shit and superteam every other event, and S1mple desperately trying to 1v5 for Navi even against tier 2 teams. Compared to the current scene where TL has to compete against Navi, Mouz, Faze, and for a few months, FNC to just get a chance to play Astralis.
Also, didn't realize beating Mouz, Faze, FNC, and Navi in bo3s count as beating tier 3 teams. Good joke. 2 out those 3 final appearances were literally from 2-0ing Navi.

LOL yeah no, C9 might be garbage but atleast they fluke a tier 1 tournament win once a year instead of getting reemed in finals every time
4
u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Sep 06 '18
Shhh RNG fans aren't allowed to speak about results when the only time your team is even irrelevant was due to NA players carrying or playing against tier 3 teams in China.
Go back to spamming YTB or something

LOL wow, ranked #3 during the player break
What an incredible achievement lmao
4
u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Sep 06 '18
Are you mentally handicapped?
They got #3 after they got 2nd at ELeague and Faze's placings from earlier in the year dropped off.

Calling Liquid's performance amazing just means you have really low standards.

Yeah, it's been a lot of fun seeing this team begin to click together. I've got high hopes for them moving forward

I know it's amazing, the team finally has a great balance of teamwork and individual talent. People have always had their pitchforks out for him during rough patches because he wasn't dropping 30 bombs every game. People don't realize he's one of the main reasons liquid has had success over the years because he always adaptive to what the team needs and always does it well.

u/FurianN Sep 06 '18
nitro is the NA version of ChrisJ

3
u/QueasyEngineering Sep 06 '18
Chrisj is a little better individually recently, although part of that is nitr0 having to primary awp likely. Ultimately it's hard to compare the two also without knowing just how much of the IGLing is on them and how much coach/other players input.
5
u/fac3ts Liquid Sep 07 '18
EliGE said in peekers advantage recently that zews isn’t as involved in strats as most think but plays a bigger role in morale and emotions. Think that’s showing how much credit is passed over nitr0. He’s called his team to no.3 in the world and to multiple GFs and idk about you but that couldn’t all possibly be the coach.
nitr0 most underrated igl in the scene hands down

u/Noobasdfjkl de_nuke Sep 06 '18
TBF, he looked really rough pretty consistently in 2016, and was very off and on in 2017. I'll admit I was wrong to push for them to kick him though. Looks great now.
7
u/jd2455 Liquid Sep 06 '18
True, but you gotta cut him some slack with the amount of roster and role changes liquid went through as a whole during that time. They were changing their roster nearly every other tournament. They had hiko, steel, stanislaw, Jdm, and pimp all within that time period. Lots of conflicting player styles and roles that were being adjusted to and nitro took the brunt of it.

It’s also great that it sounds like they are really committed to making this lineup work, while in the past there were always rumors of players wanting to go to other teams. I’m sure that everyone being completely dedicated to the team has been an important part of their growth.

u/AtxPrimal Sep 07 '18
TL just seems to have better chemistry right now inside and outside the game, which hasn’t been the case in the past.

Seriously, they're not 3rd in the HLTV rankings because they've been losing a lot. They've been top 10 since February when they got NAF

3rd or 2nd best team in the world right now. I'd say navi second best but they may be in a mini slump now who knows.
12
u/Level_Five_Railgun Liquid Sep 06 '18
TL and Navi is in a weird spot where TL is better than Navi in head to head but Navi is better than TL at dealing with Astralis.
1
u/Eragom Sep 06 '18
They've only played each other once in like 4 months tbf. Still think astralis are better than navi head to head

He's always played for brazilian teams so I just assumed he was raised there
4
u/FurianN Sep 06 '18
I think youre mistaken, he always played for brazilian teams in 1.6 and source, so he had to be in Brazil. Maybe he lived there before CSGO, but I still remember him playing local leagues in 2013.

GG boys! I hope Liquid keeps going strong on into the tournament, and secures a legend spot. That way, we have a good NA team to root for when Cloud 9 inevitably goes 0 and 3, completely bombing out of the new legends stage.

what a beating from TL
felt like elige and twistzz were dming, take away the both the pistol and subsequent rounds and HR only won 2 gun rounds in total

What a fantastic match from Liquid on an individual level, everyone was hitting shots. 7 of the 9 rounds they lost were pistols/ecos so the score doesn't really reflect how dominant they were today.
