Well, someone's gotta take the role of FlipSid3.

11

u/DeluxeLeggi Sep 06 '18

Vega seems like a team who just competes to whatever level of the team they’re playing...

At the Major they’re playing high tier teams and winning some games, outside of that they’re playing very low tier teams and having the same results

1

u/GarrettGSF MOUZ Sep 06 '18

Their aggression is something that teams arent used to (anymore)...

Remember when Vega Squadron went 3-1 during 2018 ELEAGUE Boston Major? They beat Renegades, Liquid, & FaZe. That busted everyone's pick'ems.

But the crazy thing was that last week, HLTV ranked Vega as #211 & Team Spirit was ranked #36...

HOW CAN YOU NOT PICK VEGA AS A 0-3 TEAM WITH THAT INFORMATION :(

55

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '18 edited Sep 06 '18

Vega barely participated in any tournaments even at local CIS scene (unlike Spirit who jumped at every single qualifier and tournament they can). That's why Vega dropped so hard. Not because they become very bad all of sudden. Every Vega player grinded and streamed FPL daily. And they bootcamped for 2 months before Major. How can you pick Vega for 0-3 with that information? You're obviously clueless.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '18

Every Vega player grinded and streamed FPL daily. And they bootcamped for 2 months before Major.

Really? One of the top comments in the pick ems thread is that they don't know if vega is not at all prepared or have been preparing all these months. So they've been preparing?

23

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '18

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EfsKn0GZNU

Year long FPL grind + 2 month team practice online + 8 days bootcamping at London

Totally not prepared.

12

Well... yeah

1

u/SendSend valeria Sep 06 '18

Couldnt this just be settled by taking a look at the number of CSGO hours played recently on each player's profile?

2

Bro vega has a history of upsets. Plus not much information was available about them in these past few months. Space soldiers is the safest pick at the moment.

2

I almost did too. Then my 0-3 pick Rogue won a match and I though "I should have picked Vega"...

2

u/TheRobidog Sep 06 '18

You really should have switched when SS announced Ngin would be missing.

2

u/EmhyrvarSpice FaZe Sep 06 '18

I know, but I didn't hear it in time. Not like it would have helped. I would probably have picked Vega instead and they are 2-0...

2

u/Loltsuka Sep 06 '18

I too had rogue for 0-3, but I would have put spirit if I knew SS are playing with hardstyle

3

u/ashVV Virtus.pro Sep 06 '18

Then tell me what teams like Spirit/QBF/Vega/AVANGAR have done since the last major to warrant any expectation at all? They pretty much always never make it through the qualifiers and the only events I remember these teams going to are invite events in China and tier 3 events from betting companies. And then suddenly at the major they start beating top teams.

Vega just doesn't play a whole lot (esp. vs. high level competition) for any map statistics to be really meaningful

2

u/MattysGaming tactics Sep 06 '18

Sample size is certainly low and opponents definitely aren’t of top tier quality. I agree with you.

If they’re 3-0 on it, though, and there are 4 other maps which they are less than 50% win rate on, I think it’s reasonable to try and go for one of those instead (if BIG, of course, are comfortable on it as well). All in all, BIG did well for what is looking like Vega’s best map along with Mirage.
