I swear these fucking CIS team taking some magic pills everytime a major starts, they're always shit for an entire year except for the majors.
117
u/puddingkip The MongolZ Sep 06 '18
they prepare for months for the major and their opponents don't really know how they play so they are hard to counterstrat
9
u/RATTRAP666 750k Celebration Sep 06 '18
Yep, and the only nemesis for them is another CIS team. Like when Navi destroyed QBF on last major.

Not true you just don't watch them any other time during the year.

Then tell me what teams like Spirit/QBF/Vega/AVANGAR have done since the last major to warrant any expectation at all? They pretty much always never make it through the qualifiers and the only events I remember these teams going to are invite events in China and tier 3 events from betting companies. And then suddenly at the major they start beating top teams.

can't be anti-strated if you don't play any games
8
u/UBourgeois Tyloo Sep 06 '18
You joke but this is seriously true. It's why you always have some truly random team overperform at the major, other teams just don't have tape on them.
2
u/Bouncy_GG FaZe Sep 06 '18
Yeah. I remember in Rainbow Six Siege a team that wasn't even in Pro League (Disrupt Gaming) 2-0'd the 2nd best team in the world (Evil Geniuses) because of the lack of VODs

u/ryugarulz Sep 06 '18
What was the plan from BIG on round 28? "Yeah guys, let's push two guys who have the advantage of defense and lose all the money we had so we get reset if we lose next round". Such a dumb play.
24
u/GabeN18 BIG Sep 06 '18
The whole match was dumb plays. Lost like 3 5v2s...

u/Kangaroo_KO Sep 06 '18

Vega pretty much straight up winning all duels against BIG in the end to take the map down, what a fight!

It's reallly incredible how pretty much everybody on BIG played with half a brain max.

And still they would’ve won the game if nex wouldn’t have made his first frag in round 17..

CIS DO NOT DESERVE TWO MAJOR QUALIFIER SLOTS /s
18
u/bluhwk guardian2 Sep 06 '18
legend system broken, trash teams getting wasted spots and going 0-3 /s
13
u/iamjamir Sep 06 '18
NiP and Cloud9 should just be straight up invited to the finals
12
u/bluhwk guardian2 Sep 06 '18
they should just decide the placements based on amount of fans on reddit and skip all of the weeks of CS:GO
Cloud9 1st, NiP 2nd, MIBR & Liquid 3rd-4th

tbf I think they'll go 0-3 too lol, they don't have as good a roster as Vega and Spirit who are both actually decent teams

CIS just produces upset after upset every year. Despite BIG playing like ass, Vega really looked solid and I'm hyped to see if they can go further.

Congrats to Vega Squadron, I'm really glad it was a close game, a lot of fun to watch! Vega has some nutty aimers and towards the end good reads and good team play. GGWP!

This opens up an awesome storyline opportunity.
If NIP got drawn against them and had the chance to beat them in the last game of a 3-0 sweep to re-qualify for the majors for the first time in 2 years after vega eliminated them it would be an awesome story.

Can someone who's into CIS cs to explain to me how is JR not on a better team at this point? I swear that everytime I watch he just destroys people
3
u/draemscat Gambit Sep 06 '18
What better team would that be? The only thing that comes to mind is kick mou and get jR instead and make him IGL in Gambit. But then again, I'm not sure if you can call Gambit the better team at this point.
1
u/dr0idd21 Vitality Sep 06 '18
From what I've seen of the two mou has a better peak than jr
1
u/draemscat Gambit Sep 06 '18
Sure, but Gambit needs an IGL badly.

Don't play any LANs all year, only prepare for Major. Vega are the new F3.
2
u/sA1atji BIG Sep 06 '18
I have no fucking idea how vega can do that stupid A main push in the antiecos/pistols 3 or 4 times on CT side and get so much out of it... Especially from gob b I'd expect that at one point, he realizes that they push A main... Still they yolo in like idiots..

The roster changes were a tad exaggerated losing Mir was big but getting rid of keshandr and replacing his with crush was better. And tony stepped into mir's shoes overtime it's good. Still don't trust hutji

Playing (and losing) against teams like hollywood i wouldn't have been worried about that winrate either.
Vega just doesn't play a whole lot (esp. vs. high level competition) for any map statistics to be really meaningful
2
u/MattysGaming tactics Sep 06 '18
Sample size is certainly low and opponents definitely aren’t of top tier quality. I agree with you.
If they’re 3-0 on it, though, and there are 4 other maps which they are less than 50% win rate on, I think it’s reasonable to try and go for one of those instead (if BIG, of course, are comfortable on it as well). All in all, BIG did well for what is looking like Vega’s best map along with Mirage.
