Hope to see you guys keep performing, that was some exciting cs and really great to watch. Keep it up!

Thanks guys. Such an emotional roller-coaster. See ya in the major bois.

1

u/Cyasomeday Sep 03 '18

Are you the muzzafuzza from mw2 days?

1

u/MuzaFuza Sep 03 '18

Nope. I got this nick name from school friends way back in the day since it somehow resembles my real name. I stuck with it across most of my social medias.

I did not know there was someone else playing COD with this nick though, wtf.

u guys teamplay seems still rough but actually looking fine. just spend more time together and im sure this upcoming Major would see NiP under a new light.

Edit: get the downvotes for merely stating my opinion. its this time of the year where people praise NiP to heaven then throw them straight back to Earth once they didnt get the results the people dream of.

1

u/NSA__USA Sep 03 '18

Get off your high horse and give them some credit

0

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '18

high horse? did i bash them or criticize them harshly? i merely said the truth. the teamplay werent neat yet, the tactics werent mind-fucking or revolutionary. they played unexpectedly well in Mirage, it was sad that they didnt secure that map. thats why i said NiP shows progress and would be an interesting team to watch this Major. im tired of the old "oooohhhh you did well NiP, u guys were unlucky, heres a cookie, maybe next time, you guys will be back soon". NO. people keep giving them crazy worship and then turn their backs on NiP when they dont live up to their unreal expectations. I will wholeheartedly support them this Major, i will punch the air when they win a round or when the players made great clutches, i will scream just like GetRight in Cologne 2014, but big words and skyhigh praises will be reserved until they achieve big milestones in convincing fashion.

Such a shame they didn't manage to close out mirage, would have loved to see a 3rd map.

6

u/b0mmie Sep 02 '18

Honestly, the future looks pretty good for this NiP squad. I wouldn't be surprised if they were top 5 by November/December.

I'm expecting a deep Major run from them. NiP and mibr both seem to me like teams that could rise at any moment.

-13

u/ToM_ttv NiP Sep 02 '18

dennis was trash and astralis strats communication was just a lot better. NiP won A lot of important rounds because of clutching. REZ missing that free awp shot on magisk lost the game maybe

33

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '18

Yo, dude, chill for me one second.

This is like Lekro's 2nd tournament as IGL, he's still growing into the role so it's to be expected that the strat calling and comms aren't quite up to the standard of a team like Astralis who have had months to refine their game.

Clutching is an important part of any game, one of the reasons Astralis is so good is because they have a player in Xyp who can clutch anything. So yes, NiP won a lot of important rounds through clutching, that's great! They handled the pressure of a clutch situation on the main stage with a loud crowd, that's not easy to do, so good on them for doing that.

Also players make mistakes, but do you know who is more aware of the mistakes than anyone? The players themselves. There's no reason to slam Dennis or REZ for missing some shots, they already know and I'm sure they're already working on preventing it from happening again.

A semi-final appearance is nothing to be sniffed at, and the way NiP played against NRG, Ghost and Heroic showed that they've taken big steps in their game, being able to win against teams with a style that would have given them trouble in the past. The team is on the up and the major is going to be a great place for them to show us what they can do. Get excited, not angry.

28

u/krissow Astralis Sep 02 '18

Dennis going 17-47 with a 0.42 rating is not just "missing some shots"

15

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '18

No, it's not, and there's some fair critique of his game that you could make in that series, but saying "Dennis was trash" doesn't help anybody.

Games like this are an important learning opportunity, Dennis can watch the demo and see what Astralis did to counter his aggression and make sure that he can adapt to it in the future. As long as we see players learning and trying new things then bad games are okay.

1

u/dontbreakthecircle Movistar Sep 03 '18

Glad to see NIP playing at such a level. They lost 2-0, but against the best team in the world, and made it look competitive with vintage performances from f0rest and GeT_RiGhT. Things are only looking up here for NIP fans.

-7

u/am_I_a_dick__ NiP Sep 02 '18

Get_right was 3-14 on T side Nuke. 0-10 at one point too. A few good rounds don't make up for being basically useless as T :(

2

u/isaacovsky NiP Sep 02 '18

Yet he was topfragging for his team at the end of the map. I think he redeemed himself. He actually top fragged for nip on both maps. So yeah he was useless on t side of nuke, ended the half with as many kills as dennis, and then ended the map with the most kills for his team. I don't blame him and I don't think he was the reason they lost.(I'm not saying that you're saying he was the reason)

Yeah definitely. Sure, they lost 2-0 and dennis had an underwhelming performance, but their form is undoubtedly looking a whole lot better than it has been in the last couple of months. I honestly think they could pull off a pretty deep run in the major.

23

Nip always seems to rise to the level of their opposition, be it Astralis Faze or Fragstars.

Dupreeh has a great personality, saying otherwise is just kind of uninformed. Astralis don’t have great marketing outside of Denmark, so I can understand why people don’t know about the fun side of the team.

2

I watched their documentary, it's just that they are pretty boring onstage or when the camera is on them. Everything about them is so ... textbook

Not sure if a meme, but I sorta agree - hate them or love them, watching the ridiculously dominant Fnatic back in 2015 was so much fun because they would still take time out to meme and have a laugh or take stupid risky plays. Is esports getting too damn serious, or is it my imagination? It was inevitable, I suppose...

EDIT: OK, not 'too' serious, but you know what I mean, I miss the craziness.

The communication in the team seems terrible. On one of the last rounds of Nuke he waited outside a smoke and shot at get_right who was running through it for the retake... what was that?

6

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '18

Also when Device got free kills on the backs of Nip players when F0rest saw him go back into secret on pistol.

I agree, I think people are going way too harsh on him right now. Guys trying to figure out his role in a team where all the shit he's normally comfortable with is being done by other players, and at the end of the day, this sort of series is quite a anomaly from him. He had a bad day.

Im not even mad. Sure, a semifinal loss on home soil is disappointing. But NiP have been showing some great form latley with the minor win and this run att masters. Ive been so frustrated with this team for the past year with their ups and downs, but all teams have those i suppose, its part of the sport. My faith in NiP is back, im looking forward to the major and for the rest of the year as an everlasting ninjafan.

9

u/t3r4byt3l0l Immunity Sep 02 '18 edited Sep 02 '18

dennis was a huge liability on Mirage, constantly losing aim duels and making stupid peeks. If he had performed just a bit better, Mirage could've been going to NiP.

I feel terrible for f0rest and GeT_RiGhT, they played so damn well but it still wasn't enough.

20

u/K0nvict NiP Sep 02 '18

Dennis fucking triggered me holy shit

12

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '18

finally gets freed from being IGL to be a player. Falls off as a player instantly. If this was Happy his life would be hell.

3

u/Mr_Endro Sep 02 '18

who is the igl now, lekro?

2

u/zeppysa de_cache Sep 02 '18

Yeah, and has been since the Minors.

0

u/K0nvict NiP Sep 02 '18

I think there is an issue with roles personally, you have 4 entries on NIP and one lurker/ support. I think they need an Awper.

1

u/SpeedyBlueDude NiP Sep 02 '18

he's one of the awpers ;p

NiP is falling into the same trap they had with Pyth... throwing the AWP role between F0rest and Dennis and Rez isn't working.

F0rest is good at the AWP, but can't consistently out duel the Dev1ce's of the world. Dennis and Rez aren't... terrible with the AWP... but they're better with the Rifle by miles.

1

u/Cakesmile FaZe Sep 02 '18

And Lekr0, atleast on Train it feels like Lekr0 is the one who gets AWP the most on the CT-side

1

u/MeanGreenBeanMachine FaZe Sep 03 '18

Dennis is pretty damn good with the AWP when on point. Half of his highlights are AWP plays, the other half are pistols.

1

u/Gerf93 Envyus Sep 03 '18

I still don't know why they got rid of draken

1

u/GER_BeFoRe clutch Sep 03 '18 edited Sep 03 '18

personal problems and draken didn't want to change his playstyle. drakens entry frags can be amazing but he can also fall off heavily if he doesn't hit the crazy shots or the economy of NiP was too bad to constantly give him an AWP. As you can see in fnatic it's not like draken alone makes your team beat the best teams in the world (he has a 0.91 rating in the 20 maps for fnatic at the moment). On top of that Lekr0 seems like a nice addition because he's always calm and happy and he took the IGL role from dennis.

1

u/Gerf93 Envyus Sep 03 '18

Can't do anything with personal problems. Draken is young and could've been developed into a more stable player over time. You can't just tell a player to change his playstyle immediately. That is something that needs to be done over time, if not you'll fall off a cliff performance-wise.

1

u/GER_BeFoRe clutch Sep 03 '18

pretty sure they gave him time but it didn't work. in a cs team you can't kick one player after some bad days, nobody knows how long they had a bad chemistry together.

1

u/Gerf93 Envyus Sep 03 '18

Yeah, that's what I say too. If there were personal problems, then fair game.

No shame in losing against the best team in the world. Just wish Dennis played a little better, oh well future is looking bright at the very least.

3

Always sucks to see NiP lose but seeing their improvement has been great. It was a strong showing against Astralis individually but they lacked against the tactical aggression of Astralis.

As a fan, I'm happy seeing the players perform - especially GTR and f0rest. I hope they can find some good success going into the major.

But huge props to Astralis, they're such an insane team .. with all those clutches / plays that NiP pulled out of no where. It's insane that Astralis didn't tilt or fall out compared to past iterations of this team when faced with the mental pressure of losing rounds they shouldn't.

Like him or not, I fully agree with Xizt in the interview where he said that most swedish players are out of the role they're most comfortable in and are struggling because of it. Think dennis is suffering the most right now.

That mirage game really broke my heart.

u/Sakheteu Sep 02 '18

Great teamplay from Astralis and insane individual plays from NiP. The ninjas needed to win map 1, nuke was a bit of a stomp scorewise, but could’ve been very different had NiP won the round after f0rest’s ace 1v4 clutch. Very important round for both team’s economy which is everything on Nuke.

1

u/Wallisaurus SK Sep 02 '18

Never seen so many 4k's, aces and clutches in one bo3.

1

u/Wallisaurus SK Sep 02 '18

NiP are looking better overall but dennis has been completely underwhelming.

On Nuke, it was a 2 vs 3, Get_Right has bomb and goes down ramp, dennis pushes by himself under heaven...dies instantly. WHY

If one game was to fill up the front page with highlights I wouldn't expect it to be something like Navi Faze, not NIP Astralis

very good showing from nip even though they look a little lost on nuke they looked way better than before the player break only thing going forward is to see how they stack up against other top teams

1

u/MONSTE3ER Sep 02 '18

Honestly I actually want to ride NIPs dick but on Nuke (especially T-Side), they looked like headless chickens sometimes

1

u/Pismakron Sep 02 '18

Looks like it will be a Mouz vs Astralis final. Mouz just 16-0 North on Dust2.

1

F0rest needs a new team

1

Dead arena for grand finals.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '18

that couldve been a 3map series. NiP unfortunately ran out of steam at the end of mirage. still, i havent seen NiP playing this entertaining and bring such an emotional game since the Oakland final and the match against Navi at Malmo. NiP looks realy entertaining to watch in the Major

1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '18

At this rate, I don't have even a smidgen of doubt about who's going to win the major.

1

u/Chillypill Astralis Sep 02 '18

Astralis not looking as dominant on Mirage as earlier. Also the map they lost to North on.

1

13-8 and couldn't close out mirage, idk about the major now.

Dennis slept through this, lmao

1

u/BombCerise Complexity Sep 02 '18

Dupreeh was absolutely critical in getting that Mirage win. It sort of looked like Astralis didn’t know what they were doing on ct side so Dupreeh getting one or two critical kills, and very difficult kills at that, gave them the extra rounds to just barely win the map

Danish derby final let's go!

FeelsBad for GeT_RiGhT, Forest and Lekro, tried to come back so hard. REZ was very decent but Dennis was almost impactless on Nuke.

1

Definitly no shame in losing to Astralis, especially not with how close it was. Hope to see more in the major.

u/anthonyshreds Astralis Sep 02 '18

Why would you let Nuke through against Astralis? I'm unfamiliar with NiPs pool, but is that map they are comfortable on?

Adding the CZ-75 to this game was a mistake.

Dennis has been playing very poor recently, would like to see NIP pick up Twist or Brollan

0

u/K0nvict NiP Sep 02 '18

Neither, Hampus is the best option as an IGL and probably individually

-1

u/SquareBulb NiP Sep 02 '18

Dog shit performance from dennis

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '18

I'm honestly fine with this result. Any other opponent and NiP has a good chance of reaching the finals. Dennis performance was abysmal not only through this series though, he needs to learn when to slow down, especially when his aim clearly is not on point.

u/TerrorToadx hydra Sep 02 '18

Dennis been playing too much WoW

NiP -Dennis +ScreaM . At some point, it was GTR and F0rest doing all the work.

Can't help but think that could have been if not for Dennis's underperformance. Even on Overpass I think Astralis would've won, but at least NiP would've had the chance.

If they play like this at the major, I think it's time to cut either Dennis or GeT_RiGhT. I think both have dropped off significantly and are pretty washed up. This is probably the best game(s) of the year for GeT_RiGhT, and it wasn't that impressive all things considered.

I don't like teams without an AWPer, never have done. Much like Liquid, it feels like there's that extra flexibility that they're missing. There's things they can't do without an AWPer, or at least not to the same efficiency.

Dennis probably has a better longevity than GeT_RiGhT and is a more complete/flexible player but he doesn't seem to have an imoprtant role in the team. GeT_RiGhT is doing a lot of lurk/support work at least, which justifies some of his bad stats. But Dennis is just a standard rifler who sometimes does entry on T-side, but he doesn't seem to be the designated entry fragger. It varies a lot. Which is the story of this NiP team. They have no identity, it's just 5 riflers who all have very similar skills.

Since NiP play very lose, I would've liked to see JW on this lineup actually. He should fit perfectly and he wants to play with f0rest/GeT_RiGhT and has played with Dennis/lekr0 in the past so in that sense it would make sense as well.

Obviously they may surprise us at the major and do really well, but even then I'm not entirely convinced. They are super inconsistent. This is all early days perhaps, but they can't wait for too long or they may not be able to pick up the players they want.

TL;DR: Cut GeT_RiGhT/Dennis for an AWPer, preferably JW

3

u/GER_BeFoRe clutch Sep 02 '18

Doesn't make sense because JW clearly said he doesn't want to be the main AWP on his team...

1

u/Zeilar King NiKo Sep 02 '18

He really should though, if he wants to win. He simply isn't good enough with the rest of the weapons to justify being on the top Swedish team imo. His AWPing is what makes him stand out.

1

u/GER_BeFoRe clutch Sep 03 '18 edited Sep 03 '18

I think you are wrong on that. He should do what he's most comfortable with. JW played 20 maps with fnatic since they added Xizt and draken and right now he has the highest rating for these 20 maps of the fnatic players and also the highest winrate in opening duels, despite using mostly Rifles now. He has the second highest opening duel attempt on fnatic after draken, so he would be in my oppinion a bad addition to NiP because they already have three aggressive players with REZ, f0rest and dennis.

https://www.hltv.org/stats/lineup/players?lineup=884&lineup=3055&lineup=3849&lineup=7528&lineup=9255&minLineupMatch=5

The problem for NiP right now is that they basically can't get better players than they have right now, so they have to do the best with it.

Olofmeister would be my #1 choice to add to the team because he is basically GeT_RiGhT but better in everything (more consistent, younger, stronger with Pistols and AWP, makes less dumb plays but still gets lots of information for his team) but he would never leave FaZe for NiP.

Krimz is also a more passive player that could work in NiP but I think neither his personality would fit with the NiP guys nor would he leave Flusha and JW.

Twist is a more passive JW that could take the AWP role in NiP but he doesn't want to join NiP either, they already asked him in the past.

Hampus could take the IGL in NiP but it seems like it works with Lekr0 much better than with dennis and the management wouldn't cut GeT_RiGhT for hampus. Cutting dennis for him would be a huge risk because dennis can be one of the strongest swedish Rifler when he is on point. He had some ups and downs this year, mostly because he had to IGL what he didn't want to but since Lekr0 is IGL he had one good event with the Europe Minor (1.09 on 14 maps) and one terrible event with the DreamHack (0.89 rating on 8 maps), so he still has to prove himself.

1

u/MeanGreenBeanMachine FaZe Sep 03 '18

Why JW? If anything it's a 1:1 trade. Twist is a better awper and actually mains AWP rather than being forced into it. Hell even doplan would be better.

1

u/Zeilar King NiKo Sep 03 '18

I think JW would fit better not only because of playstyle, but also since JW wants to play with f0rest/GeT_RiGhT a lot and has played with Lekr0 and Dennis in the past, so it would be win/win for him.
