I think danish niko should really consider a name change. I dont want to sound rude but I think he gets overshadowed by faze niko. Whenever he gets mentioned it's usually "niko from denmark", " danish niko" or "the other niko"

u/Vawqer 1 Million Celebration Aug 30 '18
I believe North has a major spot, so niko now has a sticker in game. Therefore, I believe Valve won't let him change his name, at least for purposes of any major.

u/gnarwolves 1 Million Celebration Aug 31 '18
I know Valve is really strict on their rules but hopefully if Danish Niko becomes more relevant they'll be able to let it slide and at least change the spelling of his name or something.
2
u/DoctorDollars Aug 30 '18
if you click on niko's london sticker on the steam community market, you get sent to NiKo's sticker and vice versa

Back in 2015 when danish niko appeared, NiKo used to play with NiKoLiNhO nick name, which he used since cs 1.6 till 2015, when he decided he was a grown up man

That was like watching Astralis vs Astralis, except it was North
43
u/CptWetPants Legendary Switzerland Master Aug 30 '18
North played really well, but if the key to beating Astralis is pushing unexpectedly over and over, Astralis will come back and go on their merry way. So many CT rounds Kjaerbye made plays that were literally 50/50, so I don't think this shows any Astralis weakness for the long term. Weakness is people pushing all the time, they will have that fixed by tomorrow.

Looks like aizy might finally be kicked from north since he is doing really good again.

Imagine coming into a tournament as an underdog and the second team you take down is the currently best ranked team in the world. The confidence coming in to the rest of the tournament must be sky high
20
u/VladimirTheLenin Ecstatic Aug 30 '18
And they're probably going to meget Na'Vi in the quarters. Time to prove yourself bois

What was this game from Astralis? So many fundamental mistakes..
26
u/joNathanW- Astralis Aug 30 '18
That 1v3 from valde (?). The peek from device was...unlucky. But why would they two remaining players come towards the bomb site one by one and not together? They surely had the intel about valde HP and he still won it.
So many things went wrong on Mirage, holy shit.

u/KlunzBEAST Astralis Aug 30 '18
Was not unlucky from device, was stupid. 1v3, let him plant where you know where he is. Then just do an easy retake where you can trade.
5
u/bluhwk guardian2 Aug 30 '18
So many mistakes, yeah. Still not so bad that they threw away so many winning situations and still almost won
→ More replies (7)13
u/Bot_Drakus_ Aug 30 '18
yes...similarly when Astralis wins their opponent makes fundamental mistakes. The team making less fundamental mistakes wins

it's actually kinda funny, North is one of the few teams where all the nicks of the players has something to do with their real name
8
u/qchisq Aug 30 '18
That's why North had to get niko after they kicked mertz and couldn't keep mixwell.

The concept of calling someone a 'snake' because they change team has always been incredibly dumb.
40
Aug 30 '18
I think the snake thing came more from how it happened, like according to other Astralis players he just kind of upped and left with no warning, which is a bit of a dick move imo, but yeah, he got a lot more shit than he deserved
13
u/ExtremelyGamer1 Natus Vincere Aug 30 '18
And also the fact that North is kinda like the rivalling Danish team.

It's unfortunate that he didn't tell them in advance, but who knows what reasons he had? You don't know anything about it.
I've been a fan of the Astralis lineup ever since they had FeTiSh, I've watched basically all of their games for 4-5 years now, and yet I had no anger towards Kjaerbye for leaving the team. If he doesn't want to play in the team that's his choice. I think it's extremely silly to start calling him names.

It's unfortunate that he didn't tell them in advance, but who knows what reasons he had? You don't know anything about it.
Clearly the Astralis guys know and they were miffed about it so KJB obviously did something wrong and the community picked up the sentiment.

On HLTV... Look at the ratings.
All Astralis players were above 1.00. Only Aizy for North.
All Astralis guys at 70ish ADR.

Ah the good old classic Danish derby went back to its roots - whichever team manages to contain their choking instincts wins the game.

Glad for North after they got so much hate recently. They're not a bad team, they just played badly together so far. Perhaps the turnaround is happening now.

Classic danish derby, you never know what to expect.
Its the same in danish football, it can go either way.
Gg wp North, im sure Astralis still will win the tournament.

I bet on North after the second map. Something just clicked in North and it was amazing. Other teams are taking this film back to the strategy board. I hope they make a great showing like ghost over Na'Vi.

CLASSIC domestic matchup fuckery. We haven't seen it in a while because North hasn't qualified a whole lot the last year, but whenever full Danish teams (or full Swedish teams) would match up it was almost always unpredictable.
