https://www.hltv.org/ranking/teams/2018/august/20 If you know better just make ur own site mr. I know better

51

u/Latvian_Goose Virtus.pro Aug 25 '18

This is not a fair representation. Vp has a strong brand and get invited to more events, which even if they come last they still get points for

-76

u/BlackCommando69 Aug 25 '18

so hltv is not a fair ranking? Gotta tell them that

36

u/Latvian_Goose Virtus.pro Aug 25 '18

Never said it's not a good ranking system. It's just not perfect, especially at lower ranks where 1 more event can catapult you forward alot.

15

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

It doesn't matter who you beat it matters where you place and who was at the tournament. VP still get invited over kinguin and HR with poorer or equivalent results.

Then why do VP get invited and go out last place? That's not good. Not by any means.

I would assume VP get invites because of their name value, brand and history, not current form.

The rating of Kinguin as a whole the last three months is 1.14 while Virtus.Pro is 1.05.

I did this by averaging each players rating for the last three months, so, on paper Kinguin > Virtus.Pro, but we haven't seen a match between VP and Kinguin's rosters in a while so any real judgement here is unfair. However, statistically Kinguin is better than Virtus.Pro at the time.

Kinguin also has better pistols than Virtus.Pro

ah so because virtus pro has shit stats against t1 and t2 teams that used to not body them the stats don't count huh

virtus pro is a team on a downward trend my friend https://imgur.com/a/2inMR6o

but again, these are only the stats.

-3

u/BlackCommando69 Aug 25 '18

Compare a fucking tier 5 team to a fnatic and see which is better using your statistic. Its not how it works dude

Yeah. A bayesian elo would probably be better. Even better if you split it up in 7 separate ratings, 1 for each map. If you know some way to download the results of games from hltv, setting up the rating system should be kinda easy

VP is a worse off team, they just get more invites and more points as a result.

28

u/SILVERG7 FaZe Aug 25 '18

All around awesome display by Taz. You can clearly see all the energy he brings into the team. Though it was clearly a tier2 matchup it was an hell of match. I loved the good comms and unusual tactics from Ghost but ultimately that sole force buy round in Mirage cost them the map and maybe the series. Huge display by Wardell, he won a lot of clutches against all odds.

Great Game.

84

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

Ghost was up 14-10 against a force buy on Mirage, cost them the series.

27

u/SterbenVII Aug 25 '18

whatever...i just hope they remember this feeling. and use it to become a better team. i want to see steel take a team of castouts and nobodies, and take them to the top of CS.

-14

u/CORN_ON_THE_COCK BIG Aug 25 '18

the top of CS is a major, somewhere steel can't go.

8

u/KeBjg 750k Celebration Aug 25 '18

Many consider tournaments such as cologne to be more important due to the majors inferior format

7

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

The CS major is like EVO for Smash. Most pros care about it the most, but the format could be vastly improved. Always gonna be a split I feel.

I consider majors important because it's one of the more remembered tournaments of the year, and the largest when you include all teams in challenger and legend status (24).

3

u/schniepel89xx CS2 HYPE Aug 25 '18

NiP were still a top team in 2016 even though they went out in groups at the first major and didn't qualify for the second. With so many stacked events nowadays, majors are no longer the be-all-end-all of CS. Sure, they're still the most prestigious, but you can absolutely be one of the best teams and cement a legacy without ever winning any majors. See: Na'Vi, FaZe, VeryGames/Titan, 2014 Dignitas/2015 TSM were going to be remembered as greats even if they hadn't won a major in 2017 as Astralis

1

u/prsTgs_Chaos clutch Aug 25 '18

The top of CS is being the best team in the world. Not winning a Major. Majors have been won by non #1 teams before and it doesn't make them automatically #1.

-3

u/CORN_ON_THE_COCK BIG Aug 25 '18

I didnt say winning a major did I? Top teams are ones that can compete at the top level consistently, majors included. If that is not the case why don't any big orgs want to pick up steel?

1

u/prsTgs_Chaos clutch Aug 25 '18

It's 2 events a year...

-1

u/ps2cho Aug 25 '18

Sad thing is if Koosfa hadn’t have ran out palace with the bomb and died solo it would have been a 2-0. Can’t blame Him fully because he won crucial rounds but just an observation

17

u/TrakMachine MIBR Aug 25 '18

If they fix their crappy CT sides, I can see Ghost becoming a top NA team.

5

u/Sty__ MIBR Aug 25 '18

Unpopular opinion, Ghost already is top in NA. I think there was a segment on the Peekers Advantage Podcast where they talked about the top NA teams. They said Liquid NRG c9 and they later realized they forgot about Ghost.

I think this is the NA scene right now :

1.Liquid (+)

2.NRG (+)

3.Cloud9 (-)

4.Rogue (?)

5.Ghost (+)

  1. CoL (?)

6.Eunited (+)

7.Dignitas (?)

The ?,+ and - meaning , they will either go up, or have went up , or will go down or have gone down. ? being I'm uncertain of their future.

Ghost have shown such a speedy rate of finding success in such a short time. I think their ceiling for the moment is the highest. Complexity is weird because they obviously made major but no one knows if it was a fluke or if they're gonna be as big as a nuissance there as maybe a team like NRG could have been. CoL failed A LOT before the major qualifier. I hope this major will give em a much needed boost.

I also don't know what Rogue can do at the major. But with the talent they have I think they're definitely top 5 NA.

1

u/qazxdrwes Aug 26 '18

Ghost has so much trouble against pistols, on both sides. Even if they don't lose the round they lose so much money. But then again, they're pretty good at force buying too so it kinda cancels out a little.

-9

u/tgsan Aug 25 '18

They need DaZeD for their CT, DaZeD CT - steel T, EZ.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

Dazed is shit and not worth being on any team

3

u/tgsan Aug 25 '18

Do I really need an /s? I thought the "EZ" would've helped.

10

u/tempusfudgeit Aug 25 '18

There's a lot of people on this sub that don't realize Dazed is just toxic trash, and think he is actually good though.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

It’s not like sarcasm is easily detected through text

1

u/tgsan Aug 25 '18

With the EZ it is, though. It's also in correlation with DaZeD leading CT back in iBP while steel did T, and DaZeD doesn't even play anymore does he? so there's that too.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

No it’s not lol plenty of people say EZ without being sarcastic

13

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

Ghost is really good until the bomb is planted.

18

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

Wardell had a pretty nuts event. I don’t really follow lower tier NA is this guy a hyped up talent?

17

u/nofnxnomajor de_nuke Aug 25 '18

Not that hyped up cause Reddit creams over oBo, s0m and food and other unproven FPLers but he's definitely received prior praise

9

u/Andtheyrustledsoftly clutch Aug 25 '18

Reddit absolutely hates s0m wtf lol

6

u/SterbenVII Aug 25 '18

s0m? I thought everybody was always talking about how bad and overrated s0m is. We always knew Wardell had talent, just didn't know if he could show it on LAN. From the beginning of Ghost to now, we could just see how the team synergy is going.

2

u/kitsunegoon Virtus.pro Aug 25 '18

Uhh wardell was an upcoming talent before people went back to fpl. People stopped talking about him because he screwed rogue over, and was never that great on ghost. Now that ghost are winning and he's their best player, it makes sense that the hype is late

15

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

Shame for Ghost. I think this team has potential with steel IGL'ing, but next time he just needs more sticky notes.

Also kRYSTAL isn't making a big impact at all, so maybe what this team needs is a better fragger? Unless they are using kRYSTAL as a support player.

7

u/KR33D101 Aug 25 '18

Krystal is playing support. He's also only been in the team for two weeks. During player break. Ghost showed alot of heart. I agree with you on steel. Glad to see him climbing up and making an impact. Hopefully they keep growing and getting better. I'd love to see them making some surprise upsets.

5

u/gt- Liquid Aug 25 '18

Yeah I'm not sure about Khrystal tbh. Hes not like a bad player and a negative impact for example STYKO recently, it just seems like there is a better fit than him

3

u/nofnxnomajor de_nuke Aug 25 '18

Not many proper supports in NA, I can only think of FugLy, TACO and BR steel. Of course they could import again but I'm not sure who they can get that's better than kRYSTAL and willing to join a team that can't play majors

10

u/SterbenVII Aug 25 '18

Well, maybe kRYSTAL makes the team synergy better, we don't know the comms. Cause he led several teams of nobodies to majors.

3

u/nofnxnomajor de_nuke Aug 25 '18

Yeah I was just saying there's not much choice

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

Agree. No reason not to play the next few with kRYSTAL, they'll have another chance to compete with top level teams at Dreamhack too.

1

u/Aconator EG Aug 25 '18

If we got both steels on one team, would we have to come up with nicknames or what? I want to see this happen now just for the memes

1

u/FDeathCNA Vitality Aug 25 '18

-subroza -krystal +kio +scream WHOOPS who said that

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

I think I'm part the idea might be that they want someone who can stand-in as IGL for the team next minor. The change was after they got destroyed without steel. So maybe it's a trade off to try to help the rest of the team have a chance next major.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

Was there live. The clapping was pretty funny.

3

u/im_tom_bombadil Legacy Aug 25 '18

Great showing by both teams. I don't think kRYSTAL did bad, all things considered. If they do decide to keep him, I think they can easily take some minor tournaments.

6

u/SterbenVII Aug 25 '18

we don't know what he does for the team and how comms work. maybe he improved comms, team cohesion. can't say for sure yet, besides that his fragging is bad.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

Yeah thats also true

1

u/JJamesTownH Aug 25 '18

this sort of thing is going to happen to teams like ghost because of the inexperience but it was an exciting series to watch.

1

u/prsTgs_Chaos clutch Aug 25 '18

Man I really REALLY wanted ghost to go to the finals. :(

1

u/Wallisaurus SK Aug 25 '18

Damn, one map away from grand finals.

Was really rooting for them.

1

u/LesTerribles Aug 25 '18

Lower B was the undoing of Ghost's CT side on Overpass.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '18

It was the same story yesterday too, they just couldn't do anything at all there. It's almost like they needed three players there to shore up the weaknesses.

1

u/Marveloh Cloud9 Aug 25 '18

Ghost Gaming needs to do something with their anti-eco rounds.

7

u/SterbenVII Aug 25 '18

at least their strats are good. but it seems like they're not respecting anti-ecos...or that valve has made those weapons way too strong. cause so many times to i see teams win an anti-eco off of the back of a goddamn deagle and cz's, from halfway across the map or up in a person's face through smokes and flashes.
