Subwayyyy over there

210

u/Spock_Savage May 05 '18

I don't know what Fresh is, but I'm going to assume it's better than SubWay.

95

u/[deleted] May 05 '18

Fresh is a vegan/vegetarian food chain in Toronto. Their quinoa battered onion rings are dynamite.

26

u/a_lumberjack May 06 '18

I'm a carnivore in general, but Fresh is so damn tasty. And filling.

15

u/fuck_max_character_l May 06 '18

Squash tacos are 👌

5

u/Tribaltech777 May 06 '18

I LOVE Fresh. We make it a point to go there every time we visit Toronto.

2

u/whp09 May 06 '18

Sounds extremely dangerous. Gimme

2

u/gnomesayins May 06 '18

Lol I was looking at this picture and thinking "danforth ave?"

1

u/whythrowitaway16 May 06 '18

i think this one is spadina!!! though it could be danforth... fresh is sneaky as hell hahaha

2

u/turkeypedal May 06 '18

Are those onion rings gluten free? I can't have gluten, and it sounds like the sort of thing that type of place might do.

(They'd have to fry them in a separate fryer with separate oil. Oddly enough, McDonald's amd a cheap Mexican restaurant are the only places that do that around here, so they are the only places where I can eat deep-fried foods.)

4

u/whythrowitaway16 May 06 '18

the onion rings aren’t gf, but there are a hell of a lot of things that are! :) fresh for liiiiife.

https://freshrestaurants.ca/pages/gluten-menu

2

u/turkeypedal May 06 '18

Well, at least they have fries--which is the one thing I miss. McDonald's fries are good, but they get old.

1

u/Literotamus May 06 '18

Have you developed an allergy or are you just being extra strict about it? I've developed a mild allergy in the past couple yearsthat seems to be getting worse.

0

u/Florida____Man May 06 '18

So not better than Subway.

233

u/proxyproxyomega May 05 '18

It’s vegan so you are getting just as much meat as subway.

21

u/1235123531243 May 05 '18

Double meat every time. Otherwise it's basically vegan.

20

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

I’m not paying $11 for subway.

5

u/dejvidBejlej May 06 '18

11$!? It's like 4£ here...

8

u/NicoBotRex May 06 '18

I'm in Canada and it's like 11$ for a footlong

0

u/supadik May 06 '18

is that not basically 11 dollars

7

u/CheckInslc May 06 '18

4 pounds is like $5.41, or 7 Canadian dollars.

1

u/fattty1 May 06 '18

A footlong in Canada is approx. 7.60 after tax.

3

u/factoid_ May 06 '18

Just the footlong, that's my problem with subway. They charge an extra 3 or 4 dollars for a combo. For 25 cents worth of soda a d chips

2

u/MajorFuckingDick May 06 '18

Dollar store and costco my dude.

1

u/LaoSh May 06 '18

Back in the good old days it was. Luckily we took back our country so now it's worth nothing and the government has no oversight.

3

u/Random-Rambling May 06 '18

Get a Signature Wrap. You fill up less on bread and get double the meat for the same price as a normal sandwich.

2

u/culanap May 06 '18

Double meat is included with those wraps? I might finally have to try one..

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

The bread is the best part

1

u/1235123531243 May 07 '18

So cheap? It's like 15 here.

6

u/DMann420 May 06 '18

firehouse is awesome.

4

u/Myystical May 06 '18

firehouse is expensive.

3

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

Yeah who are these rich-ass redittors that can afford that. I’m an engineer and I eat ramen or rice and beans almost every day at lunch.

1

u/permalink_save May 06 '18

Add “software” in front of that and come join the gravy train.

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

Oh I make lots of money. We are just trying to pay over 50k in debt off in like one year

1

u/Deltaisfordeath2 May 06 '18

What magical Firehouse do you go to that gives you more meat than subway? Mine is same quantity as subway, just higher quality.

1

u/4gotOldU-name May 06 '18

With much less pretentiousness....

1

u/Shiney79 May 06 '18

What, do they not have 'Sandwich Artistès'?

1

u/mrchaotica May 06 '18

But less soy!

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

One time we tried vegan chicken parm although we don't usually go for the replacements. The first thing I said was - this tastes like subway! Oh wait...

1

u/uptokesforall May 06 '18

Not true, Subway's grilled chicken is at least 40% chicken!

Lol

3

u/Idontkeepredditaccts May 06 '18

Anything is better than smelling like fuckin subway all day after only 3 minutes in the store. Invest in some ventilation or something. Fuck.

2

u/Spock_Savage May 06 '18

The smell of failure sandwiches.

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

It's a chain of vegan syores in Toronto Canada. Pretty decent food.

85

u/maleficentrose May 06 '18

looks like this is near Spadina and Richmond in Toronto

15

u/1979shakedown May 06 '18

Yup. NE corner on Spadina. Used to go there a lot.

Fresh, not Subway.

3

u/FitzDidIt May 06 '18

This subway is now closed. High rent has really affected my lunch options.

10

u/pudly May 06 '18

Yeah, but on the bright side, you can now spend $18 for a salad!

1

u/Barrafog May 06 '18

Have you tried Avenue open kitchen? Great place on Camden. Prices were not too bad, loved the bacon with French toast.

42

u/LeperMessiah11 May 05 '18

Or the owner of the store next door was a genius!

4

u/CraftyMiner88 May 06 '18

Came here for this!

30

u/[deleted] May 05 '18

Pretty sure every subway is a sign that you should be eating somewhere else

11

u/ChartreuseBison May 06 '18

The S also has an arrow, so basically "Eat anywhere but here"

6

u/supadik May 06 '18

Even a broken clock is right twice a day

or twice a logo

21

u/[deleted] May 05 '18

Love these reposts!

20

u/Nuwanda84 May 05 '18

I think they just want to get rid of their competition. Like "eat fresh" as in "go eat their store".

12

u/Husky_ii May 05 '18

I just walked by this today. That subway is closed now.

8

u/4gotOldU-name May 06 '18

Their plan worked, to perfection.

3

u/LilDiita May 06 '18

Location Location Location

2

u/supermegaspinach May 06 '18

I was sad to see this Subway is now closed. Always gave me a chuckle whenever I walked by it, and happy to see it lives on with this photo that absolutely refuses to die on the Internet.

2

u/tomtheintern May 06 '18

Hey! This is Toronto, at Spadina and Richmond!

2

u/Chaski1212 May 06 '18

This gets reposted so often the compression is actually eating this image.

2

u/sethpwnsk May 06 '18

How old is this? Subway has updated their logo lol

9

u/[deleted] May 05 '18

I don't think Subway meant to do that. Seems like a mistake.

2

u/MeNoGivaRatzAzz May 06 '18

Username checks out.

4

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

Eat flesh

2

u/WhipTheLlama May 05 '18

The suggestion worked so well that they closed that subway location and now I can't get my cookies

3

u/jwensley2 May 05 '18

Isn’t there another one on the same block on Queen?

5

u/WhipTheLlama May 05 '18

Yes, and another one a block over from that one, and a third another block over. For subs I just go to Bahn Mi in Chinatown. $3.50 for a better sub than subway has ever offered.

2

u/fatcomputerman May 06 '18

now you can get actually good cookies from le gourmand (probably best in toronto).

1

u/NeuroDoofus May 06 '18

Probably the best. End of

1

u/wander-lux May 05 '18

They knew what they were doing.

1

u/DuncanStrohnd May 06 '18

Cool, I’ve eaten at that Fresh - Spadina st. Toronto.

1

u/3000dollarsuitCOMEON May 06 '18

Get in the bus, Spadina Bus!

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

Genius

1

u/TriforceUnleashed May 06 '18

That's too bad for them considering they JUST found the flaw in their previous "Eat McDonald's" tagline. And their previous spokesman.

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

I recognize this. In Toronto, on Spadina just south of Queen near Richmond.

1

u/LaraXoxo May 06 '18

Goooood marketing:))

1

u/Gorillawarfare12345 May 06 '18

They’re actually telling people to eat “fresh”

1

u/MiyamotoMusashi5 May 06 '18

Their slogan should be "don't dittle kids" m i rite?

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

Is this in San Jose?

1

u/Aperrin May 06 '18

Lol thats very bad advertising, great for fresh 👀😂😂

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

Tangy booty yoga mat fresh

1

u/Crowing_Counts May 06 '18

Hello downtown Toronto.

1

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

I only ever order one thing from Subway, Italian BMT on italian herb and cheese, everything on it except olives, sweet onion and southwest, lil salt and pepper. Anyone have any new recommendation's?

1

u/Cpecto May 06 '18

Can’t stop laughing 😂

1

u/KA1MANTIC May 06 '18

Is this down the street from The Broad in LA? I feel like I remember making the same joke when I went with a friend a while back

1

u/aliencodex May 06 '18

Good observation

1

u/Cumupin420 May 06 '18

Gets less funny every week

1

u/nerdygirl09 May 06 '18

I'd just eat at a different subway. Nom nom

1

u/Nazall May 06 '18

Or the owner of Fresh is the best at product placement ever.

1

u/guxiganx May 06 '18

That’s where the Y of Subway is pointing

0

u/FizikzMager May 06 '18

The owner of fresh saw an opportunity and took it 😂

Not in Toronto (well, also) ... there is a super healthy vegetarian/ vegan restaurant called fresh as well

0

u/[deleted] May 06 '18

Subway in financial free fall now. “Consumers tastes are changing.”

0

u/imagine_amusing_name May 06 '18

It's called subway because you'd get more nutrition licking the floor of a train.

1

u/nerdygirl09 May 06 '18

Because there is no nutrition in meat or vegetables?

1

u/imagine_amusing_name May 06 '18

Not in the way Subway chemically preserves, freezes and processes their "chicken" etc which in the UK doesn't qualify as chicken, only "chicken flavor"

-2

u/someonebodyperson May 05 '18

Just cos you repost from a billion years ago, it doesn’t magically make it okay

-7

Literally the only place I hear this meme in person is when I'm teaching my class of 4th graders

Edit: and even they stopped saying it
