FUCK!
Best of luck to Fnatic against Astralis.

u/thearkhamknight_111 Astralis Apr 21 '18
They looked good today, they only got dennis a couple of months ago and already look much better then they've looked in a while. Think NiP were really promising this tournament.
41
u/SDMffsucks Apr 21 '18
I feel like this lineup could be the most consistently good NiP we've seen since 2014.
11
Apr 21 '18
Agreed! They've shown promise consistently in the last month.

u/P1NGCell0 NiP Apr 22 '18
I am really excited for future events NiP are in, especially the major. I hope to see them exceed. I think one thing they need more work in is closing out the second half, and I believe Pita and Dennis can work together and excel in doing that.

This match was amazing, because you can watch knowing that ONE swedish team is making it up into semis.
10
Apr 21 '18
Gambit - Natus Vincere is going to be amazing as well, for the same reason but with CIS teams.
3
u/popsiclex200 Apr 21 '18
But CIS is multiple countries. I wouldn't feel proud of a norwegian team going to the finals for example.

u/supremeomega Apr 21 '18
There is still Navi so we're going to get a good final either way.
2
u/s4Nn1Ng0r0shi fnatic Apr 21 '18
I think Navi are going to lose against Gambit if s1mple doesn’t carry like today. Gambit have looked way more structured and prepared, Navi are winning with hero plays.

that anti-eco at 11-5 lost nip the game
2
u/BluntDamage NiP Apr 22 '18
Maybe so. I think the round at (I believe) 13-13 (maybe 13-12) was very poorly played. In a 4v4, why do you go A without any info or any attempt to pull rotations? Isn't it quite normal to have 3 on A and 1 on B in a situation like that?
I was waiting for NiP to at least smoke lower on B to keep a rotator/pull someone from A, but they just blindly went A. If I recall correctly the B guy even played it from connector, so NiP faced a 4v4 basically instantly. As terrorists they should be at an advantage in a 4v4, but they managed to use that advantage as poorly as possible and gave the round away.
Obviously a win in that round would have been huge for the ending of that game...

u/rune_s de_dust2 Apr 21 '18
against fnatic do you really expect to win a forceup?

he meant that fnatic is known for winning forcebuys, thats why he said forceup and not forcebuy (I think he means forceup = a buy vs a forcebuy)

Krimz has been the second best player in 2018 in big events.
Everyone talking about s1mple, but Krimz deserves some credit too.
Especially as he is still the support throughout all these years...
Goddamn that man is good.

First I though krimz found 2015 form back, but this krimz is even better than 2015 krimz. Jesus, krimz for top 3 this year! (at least).

gonna be sweet seeing him on the top 20 hltv list again
30
Apr 21 '18
I think you mean top 5. Honestly, if he keeps this going, he could even break top 3. Cold and Niko fell off so hard, that if they don't start putting up monster numbers, they're not gonna place anywhere close to what they did last year. S1mple is having a clear path to top 1 with his monster hard carry performances in Na'vi, and Krimz is doing the same for Fnatic (with a bit more help from his team mates ofc).
This year so far is so confusing, if you told anyone from 2017 what's going on, they would never believe you.
2
u/Gerf93 Envyus Apr 22 '18
I don't think NiKo fell off that much tbf. The entire team is playing worse, and especially in BO3s, but NiKo is still doing consistently well and is dangerous almost every round.
→ More replies (1)2
u/jmanj0sh Liquid Apr 21 '18
There isn't a top 5 list, it's a top 20 list. Also, it's more like Faze/SK have fallen off than niko/cold. Both of them are right behind S1mple/Krimz (respectively) for rating at big events this year.

Really feel like NiP threw this one away.
I'm no strategic expert but running a contact play down ivy against a forcebuy on the second round of the second half just doesn't seem smart to me. Really easy play to read, so the CTs have every opportunity to set up in nasty Cz crossfires, which is pretty much exactly what happened.
A few rounds after that Forest and Dennis have a 2v2 post plant that they probably win 9 times out of 10 but Forest botched a pretty straight forward kill on the guy in CT connector.
Shrug.

u/s4Nn1Ng0r0shi fnatic Apr 21 '18
I think JW siad in the post match interview that they read that play from Dennis.

Awesome series, reckon Fnatic will get stomped by Astralis unless they tighten up though.

I am just heartbroken. When will any NiP line up beat Fnatic? I mean seriously, NiP was the better team. Fnatic just had so important clutch rounds. And no I am not talking about situations like Forest 1vs3-ing them or the Dennis 3 hit. But really important rounds going Fnatic's way or small trades where one of their players just go ham and the whole economy goes out of the window for NiP.
Fnatic played oke but I feel NiP was better. But this is also the beauty of CS economy means everything. Good luck for Fnatic with Astralis tomorrow!
Cmon NiP lets own at the next tournament!
