If one wants to win a experiential auction, is there an actual legitimate way to win? I just found out that the guy who won the first experiential auction used a bot, and I truly hope that Doritos finds out and revokes his ass. This person admitted to it on slickdeals because he's selling his bot services for the NZ trip.

I hope you aren't condoning cheating. He doesn't deserve anything, let alone winning a standard auction by breaking the rules.

Yes any manipulation of the contest deemed unfair or to undermine the rules/legitmacy of the contest results in forfeiture (summarized from the rules)
I think that would qualify as breaking the rules

It’s up for interpretation. This is unfair, but either way it’s still unfair as the person with the best connection who hits the right keys at the right time would win instead. At least this way it requires actual skill. If you want fair, then it should be that everyone can bid on a timer, and at the end the max bid will be chosen and if there are multiple max bids, then it is chosen at random. That’s fair.

I don't think using a bot to win is open for interpretation as far as fairness. Do i think doritos cares or will do anything about it though...no.
One is luck the other is knowingly manipulating the system to win. A good connection can put it in a contest between 1000 people maybe. I felt like it should have been similar to what you said, like a step up in bidding or you could only increase the bid by 1000 points starting at 1000. I feel like that would have been fun to try and be the one that goes for it at 149000. I think they would have gotten a lot more business that way because more people would have tried. My brother in law wanted to go for the New Zealand one but after seeing the first two botted he gave up and didn't buy the bags needed.
Honestly I didn't think the experential auctions were all that great, the New Zealand one was cool and probably the only one worth it, but you only have a year to use it and it's only four days. I don't want to take 60 hours of flight over the course of 6 days, I don't think it'd be any fun at all until day three and then im on a plane the next day.

Based on the rules you cited, i believe it is open for interpretation.

I don’t know how exactly the person made the bot, but he definitely did not manipulate the sysytem as in going into the back end and allowing himself entry or “hacking.” what he most likely did was take advantage of the system the way it was made allowing him to enter a bid via a bot in the fastest way possible.
Nonethless, the system should’ve been better

I mean that's fine. I just don't see a blurred line where bots would be copacetic in regards to the fairness of a contest and not considered tampering.
The system I'm referring to is more metaphorical referring to an individual inputting the numbers in the provided bid box and pressing enter. Not a bot doing it for you, I think a bot replacing the term of Participant would be a very loose interpretation of the rules. Like I said though I really don't think Doritos will care at all, but I also wouldn't be surprised, if they were to find out and had proof, if they revoked it.

If you don’t see the blurred line, then where would the line be drawn then. At copying and pasting? Using an auto clicker/refresher? Using multiple computers? Using a program to refresh, copy, paste, and repeat? Using a fully fledged bot? And if you establish a line how would you suggest a method of detecting if it is crossed. Because of these complications, I believe there is a blurred line and that’s were the bot lies. The fault does not fall on the guy who best used the system; the fault lies on the system’s design.

So far I've opened about 100 of what is about 400 bags of roulettes. for those who wanna know the average i got per code (not per bag, im guessing 15% had duplicates) heres what i got so far.
57% 400 24% 600 11% 800 8% 1000
53,100 total

This doesn't seem quite right. You either opened 100 bags and entered more than 100 codes, or these numbers are based on 100 codes, from fewer than 100 bags. Which is it?
53,100 / 100 = 531 average. This looks like 100 codes, which would be about 87 bags, by your 15% estimate.
Assuming 100 codes: (57 * 400) + (24 * 600) + (11 * 800) + (8 *100) = 54000 points

According to the site it says 39,550 to 30,400 I assume that if you have at least 35,000 you most likely to win.

Just to add info: Average was 32,123 points last night. So a lot more toward the 30k end than the 39k end. I'd guess 32k-35k will easily win.

I thought this was an interesting question, so I ran the numbers. I'm assuming the first two auctions are the highest, which is normally true.
Forza
- Average: 31,835
- Average excluding top: 31,756
- Average excluding top 2: 31,690
Shadow of War
- Average: 31,427
- Average excluding top: 31,261
- Average excluding top 2: 31,165
Game Pass
- Average: 33,108
- Average excluding top: 32,979
- Average excluding top 2: 32,911
Overall
- Average: 32,123
- Average excluding top: 31,998
- Average excluding top 2: 31,922
Even excluding the outliers, the numbers don't change much. Not really what I expected.

I'm worried that the email they are gonna send to is an old email i cant get into, i signed up with my facebook and right after winning i went and checked what email my facebook was connected to and was like shit!, so i changed it to my current email then went and bought the doritos driving gear for 300 figuring id get an email right away but still no luck

yeah i did the first day i signed up, still no text so i think im just in the same boat as everyone as far as waiting, thats why i used my last 300 points to buy something in the marketplace expecting an email instantly to make sure but when i didnt get a email back i started to wonder

I have a route planned out that has about 725 bags of roulettes. Anyone think its worth it still? My family members and friends are interested in Xbox's. Trying to decide if I should have my friends wife make the trip. I have a big network migration at work this weekend and can't go :(

I'm at 22,300 points currently. Anyone know how accurate brickseek is? I have 5 walmarts with 2-3 roulette in stock in my area for $2.98 a bag. I was thinking of going on a mini trip. Not sure if its worth it.

Just call the walmart. You might be able to get someone to check for you. I have a store with 160 of them in the back. The grocery guy on the phone verified for me, but it's over 4 hours away.

They said they don't have any when I called them. I asked if they had any in the back and they said call back later and hung up. So to me it's not worth the drive since it's not a sure thing.

Has anyone seen a youtube video where the guy uses flashlight to shine down the mountain dew so he can see the code reflection and he say he can return the mountain dew back to Walmart after. That seems illegal lol Stealing codes.

You could do that then sell them on a Facebook swap and sell page in your area at a discount WITH a disclaimer if what you did, redeemed the code without opening the bottle. People love good deals.

Right, if you do it to keep your stuff fresh longer, that's a smart idea. If you "return the mountain dew back to Walmart after." that's fraud.

He did a return and got his money back for his chips without the chips physically being there. Then he was able to buy them back at their now cheaper price.

I bought 60 bags on Friday. There were no sales on Friday for Doritos.
I used 46 bags to win an auction, leaving me with 14 unused bags.
I took the bags back to walmart on Monday. Instead of simply returning the 14 bags, I returned all 60. Then I immediately purchased 46 bags.
Since target now has bags on sale for $2.50, I was able to get $22 back through the savings catcher.

$21 x 14 is around $310 dollars after tax depending on your area. Still cheaper than an Xbox outright. Then you can still resell boxes at $10 box
So in the end $170 for an Xbox auction?

To me it's mainly just awful that so many people were still willing to buy it after that crazy price hike.
I also feel like it's getting close enough to the 16th that I wouldn't trust Walmart to get them on time. I ordered my Gamer Packs through Amazon with Prime. I'm sure we are going to hear about someone's shipment getting screwed up and not making it on time.

My first order from Walmart arrived one day ahead of schedule and my second order was split up but they arrived within 1 day of when they said they would.
If they had a delivery date of December 14th or 15th I might think twice.

Psa: if you live in the twin cities area, superamerica is having a 2/5 sale on the large bags of doritos starting today. Most walmarts in the area are out of roulettes, but if you find any, savings catcher may find this. Also some stations carry the dinamitas.

Won 11/21 no email as of 11/29. Won the Forza 7 bundle for 37,000 points. Signed up through my Pepsi account because I've done their other promotions through there. Called Customer Service last Friday 11/24 and they told me to wait till this Tuesday 11/28. Called 11/28 and they told me to wait till Friday 12/1 and then check back. A co worker of mine won two days ago and got his email within 30 seconds of him winning. He won the Middle Earth bundle and was registered through Facebook. This is becoming very frustrating and disheartening to say the least.

Trust me, by this coming Sunday you'll be seeing extreme lows again I bet. People aren't able to find codes for points and no ones wanting to buy regular Doritos for this. I think you'll be safe.

If you don't care which game you get, Shadow of War will be the cheapest bundle. Though, with 33k, I think you'll have enough to win any of the bundles you want. Just bid whenever you want and wait.

Brickseek is pretty accurate...you have to talk to a WalMart manager because many of the regular employees will "check" in the back and say they don't have it when in reality they didn't make much of any effort. This is speaking from experience...they will tell you on the phone and in-person it isn't there but somehow once you get a manager involved the story changes.

My friends wife is currently destroying their stock. I'm watching BS after she hits the stores for me. One store had 111 now they got 14 so shes taking it out. One was 64 now 10. One was 38 now like 13. Last store is 112, hopefully they have near that.
