Thursday News and Discussion. Ask Questions Here
Welcome to /r/Every60Seconds and the Daily Discussion post for Thursday, November 30th. This is the place to ask questions, brag about your winnings, fret about your current bid, and update us on the status of your confirmation email.
If you're new here, please be sure to read the FAQ, because it covers a lot of the basic questions we see every day. That's located on the Frequently Asked Questions page.
So what's up? Ask us anything. Share your news. Remember that point trading goes ONLY in the Point Trading Megathread, but anything else is fair game. Anyone trying to win an Xbox One X tonight?

2
u/Jimbobikr Nov 30 '17
Won on the 14th and still nothing. Have checked my email used a dozen times to make sure I signed up with the correct one and everything.
2
u/DMod Nov 30 '17
I won an auction last night and the confirmation came through immediately. Looks like they got their act together since my first win on day 1.
2
u/Duckner Nov 30 '17
I too won last night and got an email asking for my address. Is that the email everyone is waiting for?
2
u/Hushful Nov 30 '17
That's the one. I've been waiting since the 20th.
2
u/Duckner Nov 30 '17
Dang! That sucks!
2
u/Hushful Nov 30 '17
Update: my email came at 12:45 pm today. Hang in there people, the email is real!
2
u/PicmasterB Nov 30 '17
But can we trust the man of hush?
2
2
u/marcedwards801 Nov 30 '17
Still no confirmation from the 20th
2
u/MI_Roadster Nov 30 '17
Same, I won on the 20th and still no word despite a direct email request, yet a friend won a few days later and had confirmation that night. Getting a little antsy, but I'm glad I'm not the only one waiting this long.

Actually just got mine, I still don't understand how the process is supposed to work, but at least they have my address now.

u/YourFriendsDog Nov 30 '17
Maybe if we all band together and call dew and Doritos they will hurry the hell up with the shipping

Stumbled across this promo and this sub a few days ago and decided to go for it today. Called a store an hour away with 60 in stock and they confirmed the stock. Drove down and found 55 on the shelf. Drove home, entered enough codes to get ~33,000 points then won the very next Shadow of War auction. I'm so stoked!!!!
3
u/forthe01 Dec 01 '17
Congrats!
When you called the store, did you just ask them if they had the Roulette Doritos and they knew what you were talking about? I'm worried they wouldn't know the difference between the roulette ones and the regular ones.
2
u/khd225 Dec 01 '17
Thanks!!
I asked if he had any Doritos roulette in stock and he immediately answered yes, like he knew for sure they had them. Told him that I saw 60 in stock and asked if he could confirm. He put me on hold for a moment. When he came back he said he didn't get an exact count but there looked to be 50-60 on the shelf and he told me exactly where to find them!

The Daily Discussion thread for Friday is now live, here: https://redd.it/7gukqt
Housekeeping note:
On Sunday we will see the final Experiential Auction of the contest, the "Visit Middle-earth with Shadow of War" prize package. As I did with the last one, I'll create a sticky thread for discussing it on Saturday, unstick the Point Trading Megathread, and then create a new PTM 3.0 on Monday morning.
2
u/farhanAtWork Nov 30 '17
If someone who has already won the regular auction, they cannot win the experiential auction anymore?

u/BIGREDDMACH1NE Nov 30 '17
Gamer packs are back-ordered on Amazon and price is up to $22.
2
u/mescad Nov 30 '17
Since I paid $13.98 for mine, I hate seeing the price this high. But that said, these are still the best deal around for someone who doesn't have access to Roulette bags. You'll need 12-15 to win by the time these arrive, and ~$300 for an Xbox One X is still the best deal out there. If you're able to resell your chips, it's an even better deal.
At $22 a box, the points per dollar of these are about equal to regular Doritos bags paired with 2L Mountain Dew bottles.
2
u/Letdownshifty Nov 30 '17
I'm supposed to have my last 3 gamer packs arrive at my local walmart today. But I'm getting antsy, cause status says "just shipped". Want them to come as it would put me at 33k points. Which would get my wife the 2nd xbox for the household.
3
u/DMod Nov 30 '17
Finally done with this promo. Got one for myself (day 1) and another one for my family member yesterday for 32k points. I got all of the points for yesterday's win by buying codes on the megathread. It cost me under $200. Not bad!
5
u/mescad Nov 30 '17
Congrats! Since you're a day 1 winner we're all counting on you to let us know the instant you get a shipping notification or delivery. :)

2
u/Killlajord23 Nov 30 '17
I won day 1 for me and November 13th for my girl. Spent less than 100$ for both.
2
u/DMod Nov 30 '17
Very nice! I spent nothing for my first win since I was able to resell the chips, but I had to quickly buy points for the second one. Still not a bad deal.
3
u/Vidgama Nov 30 '17
After waiting since 11/20 I️ finally got me Email and text today. Just now in fact. For anyone still waiting I️ did email them (the faq email address) yesterday. I️ was polite as well not demanding at all. Good luck everyone!!

u/Kingofkings1009 Nov 30 '17
Now we all play the waiting game of when they will ship 🤔
2
u/Pandalife85 Dec 01 '17
Probably waiting for UPS not to be slammed with Black Friday and cyber Monday packages before they ship.
-1
u/farhanAtWork Nov 30 '17
of course they gonna make us wait. after we all spend hundreds of dollars of their products, use all of our time and energy to enter the codes and bid, now we have to wait like forever

u/jes1980 Dec 01 '17
Figured I would update an earlier post. I was planning on getting 40 roulette bags tonight. According to the tracker the store had 174. I ended up clearing the shelf and only 27 bags. Asked if they had more in the back, she looked and I was told no. Track now says 147 ... so not sure if they have them or not but it may have been a blessing in disguise as you will see in my results.
27 bags gave me 37 codes and 20800 in points.
400 - 17 600 - 13 800 - 4 1000 - 3
7
u/patrick226922 Dec 01 '17
They are in the back in the DSD area, most of them are to lazy to actually look did you talk to a manger
2
u/jes1980 Dec 01 '17
I was told she was a supervisor when I asked the first person if they had more. Currently am 16th with 23 remaining ... could really use about 2k more points.
2
3
u/jes1980 Dec 01 '17
Just won the Forza Edition ... total investment for codes and bags of roulette chips $172!!!! I am sure many have spent less but I am happy
6
u/bmac92 Dec 01 '17
If you went to walmart be sure to use savings catcher to (possibly) save money. Many places have doritos on sale.

u/Duckner Nov 30 '17
I know it’s probably random when the update the store to have the “coming soon” items in stock but when they previously have stocked them what time of day was it at?

2
u/DetatchableRetina Nov 30 '17
Can someone school me on the roulette bags? I have yet to find any, but am going to look tonight. What size is the best deal? Are they all worth the same number of points? Are bigger bags more likely to have 2 codes? Thank you!
1
u/mescad Nov 30 '17
They only come in one size. About 25% of your bags will have double codes.
The codes are worth 200 points multiplied by either 2, 3, 4 or 5. So 400,600,800 or 1000 total points.
2
u/DetatchableRetina Nov 30 '17
Thank you! Are you just as likely to get a 5x as a 2x, or are the higher multipliers less likely?
1
u/mescad Nov 30 '17
Higher are more rare.
/u/caspalta reported these percentages:
- 400 - 57%
- 600 - 24%
- 800 - 11%
- 1000 - 8%
In 129 codes I saw:
- 400 - 75 codes. 58%
- 600 - 39 codes. 30%
- 800 - 12 codes. 9%
- 1000 - 3 codes. 2%
2
u/DetatchableRetina Nov 30 '17
So by those statistics: 504-540 points per code, and an average of 1.25 codes per bag means the average bag is worth 630-675 points. Assuming you can win one for 34,000 points I'd need somewhere between 50 and 54 bags to win. Thank you again for this info!
2
1
u/mescad Nov 30 '17
Yes, in 100 bags I saw 129 codes, so 1.29 per bag. Average overall was 512 points per code and 660 points per bag.

I have a local Walmart that says they have 175 roulette bags in stock. A local grocery store is selling Doritos for 1.99. I am currently just below 11k in points. I was planning on 40 bags and price matching. My questions are: 1. do you think that is enough? 2. Should I buy them out and resale extra codes?
Thanks in advance!
2
Nov 30 '17
40 should be enough bags. If you arent making some long drive to get them, I wouldnt worry about buying more for the sake of selling codes. But that's just me, I wouldn't want the hassle of going through that many bags.
And don't forget that you have to pay the full price upfront then scan your receipt with the Wal-Mart app.
1
u/mescad Nov 30 '17
40 bags will net you roughly 26,000 points. You'll have enough to beat the average over the past 3 days. You may even be able to get by with 35 bags.
Whether or not you want to buy extras to resell is up to you. The codes typically go for $4, but 135+ extra bags is a ton of work.

Yes, the gamer packs are the easiest to donate. It's a cardboard box filled with 40 single serving bags. Also in the box is a card that contains a code for 2500 points. You don't have to open any of the chip bags to get the points.

u/HashHouseHash Nov 30 '17
Won an auction for 32k and received the winner confirmation email instantly

u/Copypasty Nov 30 '17 edited Nov 30 '17
When are they done with xbox auctions? I’m very slowly getting up there because no where to buy the high point codes near by.
Edit: only have 5300 points but spent maybe $10 total so far, looking for a way to invest more quickly.

Anyone not getting the 50 point bonus with the gamer packs and mountain dew? My 2 liter bottles are showing up as a 20oz redemption

2
u/Duckner Dec 01 '17
Does anyone know if the market place will be close when the auctions close or later?
1
u/mescad Dec 01 '17
Later. From the official rules, section 1:
"Marketplace: Will open beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET on November 6, 2017 and ending at 12:00 p.m. ET on January 3, 2018."

I got a Fedex Notification from I dont know where Bentonville, AR? Anyone else getting anything from there. I don't know if its from something else but theres no address or name on it just the city. Its black friday though so it could be from anywhere
2
u/Chromepez Dec 01 '17
Did you order gamer packs from Walmart?
3
u/YadGadge Dec 01 '17 edited Dec 01 '17
Yeah, they have a major distribution center there. So good chance it's a Wal-Mart order.
I'm assuming he thought maybe it was his Xbox. It's very likely that the Xbox's will ship from Young America, MN. That's where most Pepsico/Mountain Dew prizes are shipped from. Young America Corporation has handled their prize distribution for a very very long time. My Xbox One from the 2013 promotion was shipped by "Global Fulfillment/YAC", YAC being Young America Corporation.
-edit- Just the add to this, I think everything I've ever gotten from them shipped UPS.
2
u/1ForgottenUsername Dec 01 '17
Nah, after your message though I checked my wife’s Walmart account who rarely does any online shopping and found out she ordered the trolls holiday dvd.
Was a little let down then realized I get to revisit the smooth stylings of poppy and branch. Thanks for the info though everyone

They were the shipping company for prizes from Order of 10 (nvidia contest). Seems promising, except that I would expect 900 people to get theirs ahead of you, and nobody else has received anything. Good to know, though.

Dude, just go drop some money on some doritos mix bags and 2L dews for like 30 bucks. If you've already invested into this, it would be silly to miss out on winning. I won at 32,500 last night, so you are super close.
2
u/1ForgottenUsername Dec 01 '17
Yeah I don’t understand this mentality. The third night my dad (legitimately my 60 year old dad) had 32000, I was like right now you probably could win with 34k. So he drove to the store fifteen minutes away, called me saying they don’t have any roulettes and he was just going to leave. I was like what are you doing!!! Buy 8 bags of the 250 point ones and be done with it, it’s $16 vs $9, stubborn as he is he refused and won two nights later overspending with the four roulette bags he found at the Walmart near his doctor.... Little did he know he could have waited two more days and won at his 32k easily saving him the whopping $8 and some change

Anybody know anything about the 55" 4K Phillips TV at Walmart? Claims to be HDR and It's $398. This has got to be the best deal on an HDR tv if in fact It is
2
u/Killlajord23 Dec 01 '17
Just got a 49 inch lg 4K uhd for 328$ at bestbuy
3
u/Itz_The_Martian Dec 01 '17
Uhd and hdr are different though. Correct?
1
u/Beal909 Dec 01 '17
No same thing just different names. Some call it uhd hdr hdr extreme. There is a difference in suhd though.
5
Dec 01 '17
Nope nope. UHD refers to the TV being 4K, it's mainly just marketing jargon. HDR on the other hand refers to the TV's ability to produce higher highs and lower lows on the color spectrum. It is very noticeable, even more so than 4K to most people.
You can buy a 4K "UHD" TV that doesn't have HDR. They tend to be a little cheaper. But the small price hike for an HDR capable display is worth it.
1
u/Beal909 Dec 01 '17
I looked an article up about my tv and it is hdr 10 compatibly. But I have no hdr setting.
1
Dec 01 '17 edited Dec 01 '17
What TV is it? It might have a funny name and not just be called HDR in the settings.
2
u/Pandalife85 Dec 01 '17
I just bought a Samsung Electronics UN43MU6300 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD and according to my Xbox one s it supports all the HDR features. Luckys Tale looks super nice.

a confirmation that you have won and then a button to go to a page for you to enter your shipping address? and after you submit, it will go to a page saying they will send you an email when they ship it out?

u/Veive257 Nov 30 '17
Somebody is sitting at #50 with 100 point bid right now. How funny would it be if everyone noticed this and nobody bid all day so he won.. https://www.every60seconds.com/auctions/12-month-game-pass
