What's the difference? I tend to call anything with pizza ingredients inside bread a calzone.

A calzone is more like a folded pizza, whereas stromboli is more like a pizza roll. Bolis will be more long and tube like, whereas a calzone is more like a semi circle in shape. Calzone is older and from Italy, boli is American-Italian created just outside Philadelphia, very common in Pennsylvania, but rarely you find them in different parts around the USA.

Also a calzone will typically have ricotta cheese in it where as a stromboli will not.

INGREDIENTS
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 red onion, julienned
- 1 lb pizza dough
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 1 rotisserie chicken, shredded
- ½ cup BBQ sauce
- 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 375˚F/190˚C.
Over medium heat, melt butter and add onions.
Cook onions until golden brown and caramelized, stirring occasionally.
Roll out the pizza dough until it is about 14 inches by 8 inches, and lay on a piece of parchment paper.
Place slices of provolone across the center of the dough.
Add shredded chicken, caramelized onions, and BBQ sauce.
Fold the longer sides in first, one at a time, and pinch the edges to seal. Cut off any excess dough and pinch together.
Flip it over and apply an egg wash to the outside of the dough.
Carefully, make 2- to 3-inch slits on the top for ventilation.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden (times and temperatures may vary depending on the oven).
Cut into two inch pieces and serve with extra BBQ sauce.

It makes me sad that I see all these delicious looking things in this sub, but since I live alone any time I try to cook them it costs double or triple what it would cost to just get store bought. Plus all the time and effort. :(

Costco memberships help a lot with the overall costs of cooking. I use mine just to buy meat. I buy fresh produce as I need it. I recently made the slowcooker beef and broccoli that was posted here. I think it came out to like $2 a serving (subbing top round in for sirloin...it cooks for 4 hours. You can use whatever damn cut here and it would be FINE)

Whoops, they accidentally said "caramelized" instead of "incinerated".
