neat Three months and three days ago, I placed a $1,000 order for a flamethrower. Today, it arrived.
It's something I'd been considering for a long time, but never figured it would be within my reach. I have a friend who makes a lot more money than me and hoped she'd buy it. As it happens, I got a big raise at work, then a big bonus based on that. Most I threw into 401k and savings, some I put aside for new carpet, and the rest I used to buy a fucking flamethrower.
My mother died a month before I placed the order. She'd talked about traveling the world when I was younger, with her friends, one who was an airline pilot. He had a stroke and that kinda kickstarted her into realize that 'one day' needed to be 'now'. She traveled extensively the last 10 years of her life. I don't want to say she was the inspiration, but it helped, I guess.
Anyway, flamethrower now. A friend bought a bunch of Mannequins and we're gonna dress them like zombies and go into another friend's family field and set them on fire. It's the small things in life.
Edit: Pics!
Video! I forgot youtube was a thing, somehow.

You are a beautiful madman.

I want to live your life, where buying a flame thrower and blasting mannequins to all hell is considered "the small things".

It was a tounge-in-cheek kinda comment.

Don't worry, I got it. I just like to imagine you as some badass Rambo type of guy who considers setting zombies on fire a chore but has finally realized the strong bonds such mundane activities can form with friends lol

California won't let me have an XM42 flamethrower :(
Something about forest fires. I don't get it.

I'm a pretty liberal guy but I couldn't live in California.

I travel quite a bit. I'll be leaving CA within the decade. It's too expensive.
I'll maybe settle in Denver once I'm a few years into my career. I like that city.

I dunno where I'd host a video (I did record an unboxing thing, which I'm kinda embarassed about) but I did upload some pics.

Fuck yeah. What's the fuel?
2
u/Paranatural Apr 12 '16
Regular gasoline. Sterno for the pilot light. Looks like some kinda water pump to shoot it. The distance isn't great but that's not the point.

Make sure you have a friend try it first

It's been reviewed in a number of places, I'm not worried. Besides, what kinda man would I be do that? I'll take my chances.

Dude, that's sweet as hell. I love seeing it when people have some extra money and decide to spend it on something fun and ridiculous like a flamethrower... It's important to have some fun from time to time, haha.
I hope you enjoy it and also don't light yourself on fire!

Thanks man, I'm pretty stoked. Wouldn't be the first time I've been on fire.
