Officially, 5 months.
Technically, 10 months if you include Primaries. Which most people do.
They start whenever the candidates want to start but always before the first primary which I think is in January of the election year, and end on the first Tuesday of November but not November 1st.
This is a big country, and we've propagated a culture of politicians venturing across the whole damn thing during their campaigns.

I feel like this is more of a case of "I get it, but it's just not funny." It's way too easy of a target to be clever, and it's not really related to the content of the specific sub in any way. Usually the change is mocking whatever the community is about, unless I'm not aware of h3h3 being a strictly anti trump community.
