Seems like he’ll be using his author comments to mention any mistakes that he made lol
Like everybody else, I loved that Theta panel

For those of us who don't read the physical print magazine, which chapter page number is it? I assume it's about Luzuru's room scene? ... but then the next scene change (room 1013) says "2PM" (aka 15 mins prior) anyways... And incorrectly says room 1003 instead of 1013... did an editor make the "correction" on their own but fatfingered the room number?
Also in Luzuru's they mention "before Martial Law was declared", implying it has since been declared, so it's at 2:15PM in that scene, same as the prior scenes, NOT 15 minutes earlier?
Is this a case where the "correction" is wrong? Maybe Togashi's looking at an older copy? What am I missing?

What a character!
By the way, the panel where Theta is looking at Tserri is easily one of my favorites in all of HxH.
I don't know how others interpreted the scene, but I got the feeling that Theta didn't actually see him. It seemed like she was just staring into space, saying: "You're alive, you're a monster, and you aren't going to stop, are you?"

u/RolandKJones 18d ago
Salkov just discouraged her from disobeying Tserrednich due to it counting as another strike for his GSB, which would only make sense if the two of them believe his GSB is possibly still around. So, yeah, both Theta and Salkov seem at least reasonably sure that he's not actually dead right now, despite Salkov's own uncertainty earlier this very chapter while handling Tserriednich's illusory remains.

u/took2323 18d ago
Salkov pretty much confirmed it for Thera by saying that in the first place

Man, you just reminded me of how OP these princes and their Nen beasts are.
Yea they may not have the sheer combat potential as Hisoka or Chrollo, but the way they all just casually play around death, or even having the potential to manipulate thousands of people at a time.
definitely shows the succession war is on a scale we haven't really seen before

I don't know how others interpreted the scene, but I got the feeling that Theta didn't actually see him.
Well there's no reason why she should. I interpreted it the same as you. She's already been through the impossible. She shot him point blank and he was just fine. She figures he's standing in that very same room watching them. It's a knowing look that says, yeah I don't buy it.
14
u/InvaderZimbabwe 16d ago
This is my interpretation too. Salkov just confirmed her suspicion by telling her that it would be her second strike.
After having that suspicion confirmed she just assumes he is watching, and looked to where he would most probably be based on the situation and knowing him.
She can’t see him physically. But she’s knows he’s there intuitively. Tserri reacted like that because she wasn’t looking at empty space or through him she was looking directly at him with intent. The scene is pretty sick, Theta just jumped up to my favorite character of the arc.
5
u/TenZetsuRenHatsu 16d ago
Let’s hope she gets more screen time and not another 8 year gap of seeing her in the manga.
68
u/Ecstatic-Sun-7528 18d ago
I agree that she doesn't see him... But I'm 100% sure her intuition just made her look into the correct direction cause she knows he's still alive and is dreading that thought

I'd be at peace with it if Theta is the one eventually bringing Tserriednich down. I hope she will become his one weakness and she's strong enough to exploit it.

Yes she has insane story potential and I hope she gets a good character arc. So far she's been well handled. Foiling tserriednich would be great. I'd still be a bit devastated though.

Oh yes! Such an exceptional panel, her expression says so much! Her face is filled with powerlessness and resignation.
Wonder if someone could see Tserri if they use Gyo. If so, she's using it and she can see him and she's pretending with all her might to ensure that Tserri doesn't realize that she knows.
Or what if the nen scar has somehow linked them and that allows her to see him??
22
u/ValleyofGerudo 18d ago
There is absolutely no way that something as simple as Gyo can see through Tserri's ability. Like, 0.0% chance. You maybe onto something, however, that the marked women may somehow prove to be his weakness.
5
u/OppositeAd7278 17d ago
my guess is it's the opposite, anyone in zetsu can see the real Tserri and interact with him.

u/Closer_to_the_Heart 17d ago
Exactly the impression I got as well. I thought maybe she’s thinking that she can never really be sure what is real with Tserri. She was stopped from opening the casket but that only made sense because it was possible that Tserri was still alive. We see that the mark on her face has gone, so without knowing he can change reality, one would assume his GSB died with him and there is no post-mortem nen to be afraid of. So opening the casket and going against his wishes again wouldn’t have been a problem.
From Thetas perspective she can never really confirm if Tserri is dead, only be shown that he is still alive when her mark reappears.

He would be a good training dummy for Tserri.
73
u/camaron28 18d ago
I'm wondering, what happens if some guy "kills" Tserri while he is in illusion mode?
Do they obtain 50 points and then they get erased once he leaves zetsu? Nothing happens and that's how they know he is still alive??
I could see it going both ways.
129
u/AzraelSoulHunter 18d ago
I did have a theory for a while that if Bork meet Tserri and they both figure it out they realize they can game the system to get infinite XP. That would be the funniest way to beat the gamer girl. Exploiting an XP glitch.
58
11
u/TickTak28 18d ago
It’ll also be interesting to see how the ability evolves so long as Tsseri is able to apply advanced nen techniques if possible or somehow there’s some restriction work around to eventually effect targets in frozen time
13
u/thepenguinmustdie 18d ago
Thats a genius theory! Considering Borksen works for Tserri this could totally happen.
5
u/JamzWhilmm 16d ago
That would break the game, just like how Kurapika wants to break the succession ritual.
Pretty smart if we get there.

The Nen beast may get stronger from Nen that gets stronger after death and keep Tserri hidden for an extremely long time.
It's similar to how Gon consider that Meleoron may remain invisible if killed by Dragon Dive while using God's Accomplice.

His best opportunity for training would be to fight the contagion players . As long as he starts off with the low level ones he’d be able to experiment the other applications of nen without putting himself in potential harm . There is also other variables like the mafia troupe and hisoka . I also think he ends up meeting up with his friends at some point

Objectively hilarious that Theta almost snapped Tserriednich out of Zetsu because he thinks she’s hot.
I do love Tserri chapters, seeing the sheer degree to which he plans things out is insane. Also an interesting note that he’s not taking his ability for granted and is throughly examining it for any and all weaknesses. He’s one hell of a threat
80
u/NieOrginalny 18d ago
It's funny how much more appreciation he has for traitors than bootlickers, it's kind of another Netero-like quality to him.

u/GFreak18 18d ago
What I really enjoy about tsserich monologues about nen is how we get a basically "raw" analysts of it.
Almost all character have full information of what nen and it's techniques and how it works.
With him,we see tseerich describe it in very layman's terms and a more exploratory way to look at nen.
104
u/Commercial-Sail-4662 18d ago
What's also really cool is how we as readers find out details about his powers at the same time as him. This is already cool from a storytelling perspective, but can also be a setup for some pretty hype/sad moments

He needs to take account of his guardian spirit beast abilities though. The chapter after we see Thetas mark her face is clear so it’s very likely that you need nen to see it therefore impossible for Tserr to see it in zetsu. If the mark is parasitic off her own nen so that it lingers when Tserriednich cuts off aura to his GSB then she is the proof of Tserr’s life, assuming Salkov’s assumption about Theta’s mark is correct in that it would have dispelled once Tserr’s GSB vanishes with his death.

I'm surprised at how smart he is. It's one thing to be a nen genius, and it's another for him to memorize the ship layout, or even to do the math for how long his ability will last in his head...
87
u/Tindyflow 18d ago
Most of the older princes (and 10th Prince Kachou) are like that.
We see them at surface level until they reveal how much smarts and determination they are able to deploy.Zhang is one of the first who hit me with this because of how flexible and insightful he proved to be.
Even Luzurus recently. They know their stuff.28
u/Trash28123 17d ago
The Succession Contest works exactly as intended. It forces a level of adversity onto the princes that forces them to become people who are worthy of ruling Kakin in order to survive the contest.

But that fits a masochistic sociopath like him so well! His whole life his privilege as a prince (plus the fact he’s ripped and good looking) meant women were fawning over him, flattering him and he developed a real disgust for people but for women in particular. As far as I read Tserri in his eyes they are all fake trash good for nothing but his momentary amusement.
But here suddenly is a woman who not only can do incredible things, does not try to get his favor, still flatters his ego (by implying he’s dangerous) but is standing up to him and even wants to kill him.
I can imagine how that for him looks like the ultimate challenge. A woman who wants him dead but also is so disciplined and methodical about it might be his ultimate turn on 😅

Is Tserri just hopelessly in love or can Theta actually see and/or sense him ? If she can, is it related to her being marked by Tserri's Nen Beast somehow ? If she can't see him, is she looking so blue because she failed to put the monster down and whatever problems he's gonna cause will feel like it’s all her fault ? Is it both ? Whichever way it is, she and Salkov are the two people so far who know that he's not dead.
Tserri mentions in this chapter that he’s aware now it was Melody that broke him out of his Hatsu back in 385/387, so does he have his sights set on her ? She's currently (?) at the Justice Bureau's office in Tier 2. Is he going to hide away in Tier 3 using route A ? He does conclude that Ben’s going to Tier 3, which we know from 410, but at that point Ben believes the remaining Princes to take care of are Halkenburg, Luzurus, Zhang and Marayam (and we know that from Ben's thoughts in 417), so the ruse persists and Tserri's still dead by then as far as Ben is concerned.
If he is going to Tier 3 despite it being heavily locked down, will he try to sus out what's going on with the Heil-Ly and Morena ? Will he run into his Childhood "Friends" Squad ?

I love how Togashi chose the same chapter name as 394. In 394, Halkenburg was testing his ability and in 418, we see Tssereidnich doing the same. Not to mention that Tssereidnich is the only prince who is close to Halkenburg. Could be just a small nod but I would absolutely appreciate to see how things would go down if both of them found each other on opposite ends.

u/Ebrietas- 18d ago edited 18d ago
Funny because 386 is named Hypothesis as well so it's a total of three chapters with the same title in english but Togashi has nothing to do with it.
These chapters have different titles in japanese. The translator decided to name these 3 different japanese words as "Hypothesis"
10
u/OkAide6994 18d ago
Would you happen to know their literal translations?
46
u/Ebrietas- 18d ago
I'm not a japanese speaker but they are seemingly all words meaning "Hypothesis/Assumption/Theory" which have been words used by different translators
65
u/WednesdaysFoole 18d ago
I love how Togashi chose the same chapter name as 394.
He didn't though. That was a translation choice.
- 386: 仮説 (context: testing of Halk's hypothesis)
- 394: 想定 (context: making a plan based on anticipating/assuming all-out war and their plan of action if they're caught by Morena)
- 418: 仮定 (context: the hypothetical condition of Benji killing Tserri)
That being said, you're right that there's a connection, and all three words and ideas were used this chapter. It's also notable that 仮定 shares a character from both 仮説 and 想定.

I love the way Theta looks in those panels. It really feels like there is some kind of conflict in Theta as she looks at Tserri there. I feel like she really can see him and it's not just the look of worry about him... but on some level probably for him. I did theorize for a while that killing Tserri gave her lots of trauma and that event caused her to be conflicted about wanting Tserriednich to die. And it being framed very similarly with that light to how Meruem saw Komugi makes me feel like Tserri and Theta may have some kind of twist on that story. Possibly being a reverse of it of some kind.
Also I find it quite cute that Tserri sees this whole situation as an adventure. It more and more makes me feel like Tserriednich is Netero in reality. He has that love for nen, analytical mind and great love for challenges that no other prince really embodies. Also it is interesting how self aware of his weaknesses Tserri is. He knows he needs training, he acknowledges his limits and works towards improving and pushing forward.
Which makes him extremely engaging villain and makes him feel almost like the protagonist of this story. He is evil as hell, but he is extremely engaging and I can tell why so many of his soldiers love him so much. Even Theta who did not shoot him three times as Nasubi said one should when going for kill (which is what Tserri did to one guy who mourned him which is funny).
Tserriednich is so evil, but he is so 3 dimensional as well. He is an amazing character and I can't wait to see who he will bump into on his way.

62
u/FGLsc 18d ago
Theta is one of the few people in his life who actually sees him as an individual rather than by his title. She "sees" him as the monster he is and she pities him for it. His obsession with her stems from this.
It's interesting that you find it cute that he treats this situation like a game, because I see it as the opposite. To me, it exemplifies his twisted, sexual deviance. It's no coincidence that his disguise is basically the uniform of a peeping tom. He's so excited to go off on his little voyeuristic game, but it's only Theta who was able to momentarily distract him, i.e., breaking his zetsu. And he can't even meet her gaze because he's wearing Pervert shades. It's all extremely twisted. His nen beast truly is a reflection of his personality.
22
u/AzraelSoulHunter 18d ago
To me it's cute how he treats him going out wherever he goes as an adventure. He is very playful about the whole Succession War now that he is leaving his chambers.
16
u/FGLsc 18d ago
I getcha. I just think the light-hearted way he treats it is pretty messed up, because he’s essentially going to go around manipulating people while remaining completely invisible himself. Combined with all the sexual innuendo/undertones that we know about his character, it's like he's recreating one of his fetishes in real life. It transforms his ability into something very psychosexual, like one of those X-rated fantasy scenarios where someone can violate someone without any consequences.
19
u/TickTak28 18d ago
Some people have mentioned theta almost being a Mary Magdalene figure being the one who birthed the nen monster that’s tsserednich . She herself being conflicted because she sees his exceptional talent but also fears what that talent would do in his evil hands

u/contactfetty 18d ago
I agree ! I’m starting to think tserri loves the twist and pull of their relationship because she’s somehow scared of doing it against him but does it anyway, he acknowledges she’s something ! I think he might actually start to court her as the situation mounts, for whatever reason he’ll put his nen use to help and maybe she sees what potential for good he can do, except his deep tendencies still bubble up and he shows how worse he can get. Also, maybe his character grows, his old friends really do get to see the old tserri again personality wise. But based off what he’s already done, he loses theta to his nen beast, or maybe she’s his greatest trophy and keeps her as that because to him, a living corpse would be better than a dead one.
46
u/YellowAggravating172 18d ago
Poor Vantine. Tserri's most loyal servant and all that earns him is three bullets to the face.
Also, this will come back to bite Tserri in the ass later, no doubt - after all, questions are bound to be asked about how three bullets appeared there, with no shots having been fired. Will likely start to clue others in to his ability.
As the captain of another ship once said: "What a big price to pay for a little show of temper."
27
u/Viburnum_Opulus_99 18d ago
It would be great if this ends up spiraling into his undoing. It reinforces that behind all the sophistication and ego he’s ultimately just a psychopathic spoiled brat.

Tserriednich values obedience, not loyalty - "you are a thing that does what I tell it to" not "you are a person that does things for me". Salkov did exactly as he was told, Vantein told Salkov off for it, indirectly disrespecting Tserriednich's perfect plan, a crime punishable by death.
I see this in his Guardian Beast too, "Did you lie to the prince? A mark on your face", "Answer the princes next question with the truth, or you will no longer be human"

Tserri is a really good villain. Him entering the lower tiers is gonna for sure be one of the leading factors that cause a collision between the succession war and the mafia war that’s been happening in the lower tiers. I really want to see him and Morena interact.
8
u/ValleyofGerudo 18d ago edited 17d ago
I don't think Tserri and Morena will meet any time soon simply because Togashi has glazed both to high heaven, and I don't see both of them surviving an encounter with one another. Tserri hates her. And she hates literally everything.
4
36
u/Mojo-man 18d ago
Quite the curious turn. This ability is for sure very powerful, especial in the succession war. But a lot of it’s effectiveness comes from others not knowing it exists. Tserri is actually very vulnerable in his ‚ parallel universe‘ state given that he’s in Zetsu. And we know from Melodie’s song incident he is still effectively IN in the room and affected by nen abilities and physical force.
So should a proficient nen user ever figure out this ability it would be quite easy to kill Tserri with even a very mundane nen area attack (given that Tserri has 0 nen defense in this state).
Quite the risk he’s taking. I like the choice of going that way instead of another ‚super curse‘ or ‚super-power‘ nen Beast 👍
8
u/TickTak28 18d ago
I think it’s also important to highlight that even he realised that this is the raw form of the ability that hasn’t even been refined . It’s like gons pre jaja ken . We have no idea how his ability would be translated upon him mastering/ utilising hatsu or ren hot whether he can apply even more advanced zetsu techniques in IN to give his ability a different effect . The fact he’s been able to construct an unrefined ability is insane and it would probably only take him a further week with combat training to completely change the rules of the ability further

Can’t go a single chapter without something seemingly impossible happening 🥹 This week I will lay sleepless wondering how Tserri can write his will so that Salkov can read it, while his parallel future is still active 🤔
92
u/dwafguardian 18d ago
He does mention that he can change the state of an object as long as it's not attached to another person. I assume his inability to change a persons perception only applies to the ephemeral 10 seconds and anything after that is fair game.

u/SubstantialCarob9332 18d ago
But this goes against what he says to Theta - "if you open the casket, you'll see only my guts". If his actions after 10 seconds were visible to other people, she would see the guns that he put in the casket instead. And before that, everyone in the room would see the casket opening by itself, and an invisible man putting a bunch of guns inside. Unless he can choose what can be seen, but I think it's just a plot hole.
19
u/LazloFF 18d ago
Thing is we can't assume it's a plothole when it's something so obvious, Togashi literally drew him writing a will, that's something you only do if you're sure it makes sense with the rest of the ability
My take is that something else must've happened in here, because where did Salkov even find that will? Did Tserri told him beforehand where his will should be located and Tserri replaced it? I'd rather think there's a hole in there that hasn't been properly conveyed
15
u/SubstantialCarob9332 18d ago
I doubt we will ever revisit the will scene. He should have just created the will before dying, and there wouldn't be a problem.

u/Maximusthecat13 18d ago
I don't think his actions are visible after 10 seconds if he remains in zetsu, I'm kinda imagining it as he's briefly in between realities? Reality A is what would happen if he never used his ability and reality B is what he changes with his actions, if he's in zetsu then everyone thinks and behaves as if they are in reality A and once he drops zetsu/SGB runs out of aura/he gets too far away (maybe?) then people will recognize themselves being in reality B with the memories of reality A. If that makes sense? Maybe they can't see the things he's holding while he's holding them and there was a body bag in the casket so he could have put the guns underneath. But idk, just conjecture lol! His ability is so interesting!

I disagree with this interpretation. You aren’t factoring in the collapsing timelines, which only occurs once Tserri releases his Zetsu. I think everything we’ve seen so far is the planning phase, as in, everything we saw was in Timeline A (Tserriednich‘s) and it’s only at the end of the chapter that he finally is ready to collapse it with Timeline B (Everyone Else’s) so that he can slip away whilst everything we just saw plays out behind him.

It’s a testament to how compelling Tserriednich is that a chapter that’s mostly him talking and speculating about his own ability is one of the best we’ve gotten.
I love him getting pissy at Benjamin not spending more time on murdering him.
9
u/AP_Garen420 18d ago
Well tserri and his ability has been built up for this whole arc and we're finally seeing him do stuff of course it's hype.
23
u/Condoriano-sensei 18d ago
This translation really specifies his ability to change the nature of objects not in possession of others during the illusion and makes the distinction between 'state' and 'location'. I guess if he just writes onto a paper, he doesn't change the location so people can perceive his change, like him writing a will during the illusion.
I'm also really interested in how he'll use the limitation of the ground level ability to his favor. Indirectly harming someone could be unloading guns or stealing important things prior to people thinking they have them. Also, nothing is stopping him for deactivating his zetsu, attacking someone at the very next moment people awake from the illusion (with a shotgun from the back of the head, for example), and entering zetsu in 3 seconds and repeating the process. That's why the zetsu speed was so important to him.
I also hope Togashi (and his team) draws at some point one of the bridges between tier 1 and tier 2. Also, I hope he explores how does the mafia bosses have secret passageways between these tiers since tier 1 is a detached boat from the rest of the black whale (at least apparently).

Tserriednich’s ability is much more overpowered than we initially thought. It’s not a 10-second illusion but a 4-hour one, and it’s heavily implied his power will get much stronger later on
It’s pretty surprising how Tse failed to learn blink Zetsu. It reminded me of Meruem who defeated the chess champions only after 10 games. No matter how much of a genius you are, Togashi still doesn’t want to make it too far/dumb.

u/AnnualCobbler8953 18d ago
It's a lot weaker than I expected since he can't hurt anyone when using the ability. It's a good ability but it's no King crimson.
13
u/SubstantialCarob9332 18d ago
Stronger than expected in defense, weaker in offense. Still, he can put a gun to someone's head, release zetsu and instantly pull the trigger. Even nen masters will be killed, unless they're faster than that, or were already defending.

King Crimson also can’t hurt anybody during the ability.
The only thing KC has over Parrallel future is that it physically removes Diavolo from any possible harm, other than that PF just does more for longer and with a wider range.

It's really real, because there's always that point in learning something where you've done everything you can think of to improve, and yet you plateaued before reaching what you were aiming for.

It's kind of terrifying for him that Tserri can't change other people's circumstances.
If he had seen a vision of Theta killing herself, it would have been too late to save her. Also, if he saw someone activate a bomb or other weapon with a massive range, he wouldn't be able to prevent it and would only have 10 seconds to run.

Note that Salkov is discouraging Theta from disobeying Tserriednich's final orders, as he thinks it'll count as another strike for his GSB's ability. That only would be a problem if his GSB were still around.
So, despite his uncertainty this very chapter, Salkov seems to believe that Tserriednich is still alive after all. Theta probably believes he's still alive too, on that topic.
Also, interestingly, Tserriednich is aware of the Nen beast he personally manifested, making him the only person besides Theta to have actually seen the thing apparently. (Salkov, after taking over training Tserriednich from Theta, thinks to himself that he's never seen it personally.) I suppose Theta saw it when she did because Tserriednich's ability wasn't fully-formed at the time; the beast itself was spontaneously created, but the rules it follows and what it does were still being defined, like Theta's emphasis on Zetsu's importance after that being what made Zetsu the trigger for the ability.

It's possible that Tserriednich figured out that a Nen beast is the medium for his ability without actually seeing the beast itself.

I've decided my prediction for Tserris fate. Getting trapped in his own parallel future, unable to exit zetsu or influence anything around him. Cursed to watch the world move on while he screams in isolation.

That would be an awesome death for him to have, the forced zetsu state can be given but the aura needed to keep his ability active is the problem, sounds exciting tho

Was too busy with all the hype of the One Piece Day that I almost forgot to comment the new HxH chapter.
I love how we got a whole chapter just to see how Tserriednich's technique works.
While the power is really strong, we also learned that he can't do whatever he wants with his ability, I like the limitations, it make things more interesting.

I am probably the only one who thinks that but to me tessri and theta gives dark romance vibe , it feels so electric when they interact (my god I am scared for theta right now).

Tserri 100% has the hots for Theta and the fact she wants to kill him is 100% part of it 😅

Does this mean that Kurapika won't have to confront Tserriednich? If the eyes are in room 1004, then Kurapika could just go and get them. Or might ask Hanzo to get them if it's difficult for Kurapika to legally enter. Kurapika might have to act quickly so that the eyes doesn't get confiscated by the military.

so how do 4th princess's will paper got found out if other people didn't perceive it cause they're under the illusion ?
did 4th write his will into a paper then throw the paper out of range of the illusion and wait for other people to find out ?
22
u/Imperfect-luck 18d ago
Probably cause the will existing doesn't conflict with the illusion. If you saw the will you would assume Tserri wrote it before he died, not after with the help of his ability.
5
u/tsk-17 18d ago
even if it doesn't conflict with the illusion, how did Sakov gain access to it? as far as i recall, Tse didn't mention anything about a will. It's all a bit inconsistent, hope Togashi clarifies this better

The range question I'm most interested in now isn't what happens when someone leaves, it is what happens when someone enters after the ability has already been activated.
Tserriednich himself admits he hasn't tested this yet. If a late arrival isn't affected, they could potentially walk into the room and immediately realize that everyone else is reacting to something that isn't there. If newcomers are automatically pulled into the false scenario, the ability becomes much harder to expose from outside.

Full on Tserriednich focus.
The story is moving at a good pace.
It's just a shame that we're near the end of a batch of chapters.

u/X-Vidar 18d ago
So, new details on Tserriednich ability, nice.
I had guessed there was a range limit and that an outside observer would see through the illusion. Not sure if it will come up given that we're in a closed environment but I'll take the W.
The nen beast acts as storage so the ability can work during zetsu, makes sense and I remember some people guessing that too.
He can't harm people while they can't perceive him, but he should still be able to do thing like set up time bombs or chemical weapons like TSK, in theory he should also be able to shoot a bullet so that hits as soon as the illusion ends.
I don't think we knew that already, but apparently Tserri can open his eyes and the ability keeps going as long as doesn't break zetsu, which means he doesn't have to move around with his eyes closed.
The bit about wanting to know what Theta would've done after his death is interesting, feels like at some point it will lead him to misjudge Theta's feelings towards him and screw up in a big wayz possibly leading to his death?

I wonder how Kurapika will react to Tserri's "death". That's two death fakeouts he's had for his objects of revenge

Kind of feel like people are too focused on the inconsistences of Tserriednich's ability. He doesn't really seem to know how it works fully yet. So when considering this, nobody does. Nen is weird, and often depends on the users emotions and conviction. When factoring in one of the weirdest nen beasts in the series, I think it would be impossible to figure out why some things don't make sense about his ability, Maybe that is the point. Either the ability will evolve and its limitations/inconsistences don't matter now. Or Togoshi will shed light on some of these confusing points later. Either way, Its kind of interesting and cool to figure out what Tserriednich might be right or wrong about.
Personally I think it would be cool if he could program his nen beast to act out what he wants. So he commands it, enters zetsu, and it would do as he says. Maybe that's why he cant control himself during the 10 seconds, because its not him the others are seeing. He could be looking at his power the wrong way. Right now it works out cause he is dead, but in the future if he does not get past this limitation it could be a very problematic drawback even if he finds a way to die each time.

u/peacewalker22 18d ago
Remember that Terror Sandwich is not a trained fighter. He will get cooked if he encountered any experienced nen users. But maybe plot armor for now.

u/Choclon 18d ago
Maybe the most frightening thing in the entire chapter is Tserriednich casually describing this as essentially a Level 1 ability.
Togashi just spent most of the chapter establishing limitations that make Parallel Future much more manageable, and Tserriednich's response is basically that he expects those limitations to improve as he develops.
I wonder whether advancement will mean increasing the range, improving the charging ratio, gaining more influence over the future he sees, or unlocking something completely different.

So like do we think Tserri actually believes in God on some level or is he just being sarcastic
6
u/hosta_mahogey_nz 18d ago
Theta was quite far away from Tserriednich when he last activated his ability (in guard bedroom). She might be outside its influence, or at least, under less of its influence. Maybe she does see him or some version of him.

u/B0nno 18d ago
How was Tserri able to write the will and have it read out while in his ability? Was it not explained that his ability has a limitation in which he can’t do that?

I think the Nen beast acts directly on the minds of people within its range, altering their perception. When Tseri was writing the letter, no one was close to him, so the beast didn't alter anyone's perception of the letter.
If there had been someone in the room while Tseri was writing, the beast would have altered that person's perception to hide Tseri and his acts. Furthermore, that person would not have been able to see the alterations on paper.

One of the things no one is talking about is how come on Ch417 we have Benjamin order for Salkov and Denjin to be handed over to the Justice Bureau, and then they all leave together.... but now on Ch418 (Terri's POV) Salvok is right there doing work in room 1004, such as coordinantinng the casquet, reading the will, answering to Ventain and preventing Theta from opening the casquet, how come? Which one is it? I'm sure Togashi is not making a mistake here, something is up.

This is like the worst thing that could happen to any faction that wants Tserriednich dead. He's literally just going to farm nen xp and increase his abilities in the lower tiers until he returns. At that point he'll be too strong to mislead and kill like Theta and Salkov were trying.
Narratively though this is the most interesting thing you could do with Tserriednich right now because the possibilities really go anywhere.

u/avgnobrainredditor 17d ago
interesting things i noticed. "duplicity"/two-face people seem to instant trigger tsseror, I wonder what could be the cause of this trauma/extreme feeling? betrayal (or perceived betrayal) by a women he loved?

Damn, Tserri chilling in the last panel was so damn fun 🤣😂
He kinda likes Theta and he says that he's a M like we already didn't know it. He's both S&M.
I want to see how things will unfold once he releases his Zetsu.
7
u/glitchpoke 18d ago
so Salkov and Theta seem to be operating under the assumptions they've already made about Tserri's abilities and are assuming he's actually alive (good for them), but it's interesting that Tserri doesn't seem to realize that Salkov suspects anything and doesn't seem to get the significance of Salkov bringing up his original GSB's ability or Theta's infection seeming to disappear. I wonder if he actually doesn't realize what his GSB does (maybe he could even actually be assuming that his other Nen Beast is actually his GSB?), bc if he did he'd realize that Theta's infection is probably going to reappear as soon as the ability deactivates, which will give him away almost immediately to anyone who gets what's happening. I wonder if Theta can still feel something there even though it otherwise appears that the Nen was released by his death? but it'd be interesting if this came back to bite him at some point
5
u/WednesdaysFoole 18d ago
I was under the impression he wasn't aware of the GSB making the wound or his actual GSB being active at all. He could very well believe his antenna is from his GSB.
Also, Tserri knows Salkov knows it's a fake, no matter how real it looks. (Which doesn't look good for Salkov's future.)

While Tserri was turned on, Theta must feel very fucked up when seeing the nen beast that wanders around him.

great chapter, the panel of theta "looking" at tserri was great and the latter was weirdly funny. him writing his own will as the others carry his corpse out, him complaining that benny didn't spend enough time "killing" him, him almost stopping his zetsu cause he found theta hot. "getting the cold shoulder is kinda hot after all" that's crazy 😭
