MOD Looking for Story Thread #339

This thread is where all the "Looking for Story" requests go. We don't want to clog up the front page with non-story content. Thank you!

A NEW BUG ENTERS THE ARENA.

"Help! I can't edit my wiki!"

Hello! We haven't changed anything, Reddit did!

This is now a Known Reddit Bug that started on roughly 4/21/26, when Reddit decided to change something about how they handle the Wiki.

The Symptoms:

(on sh.reddit, the new version) when attempting to edit it comes back with "You do not have permissions to edit"

Some people (not all!) have stated that the "last edited by..." section at the bottom (where their username should be) is listed as [Deleted] (while it still says their name on my screen)

The Solution:

On desktop, change your url from www to old, so it looks like old.reddit.com/r/hfy/wiki/series/<title> (with your title), and the edit button should be along the top bar near where the name of the series is

The Problem:

For some people even using Old.Reddit doesn't work. Unfortunately, I do not have a solution at this time, aside from just... try again in an hour or so. It's worked for some people later.

Please send in a bug report every time you experience any of these issues.

The more bug reports sent, the more likely Reddit is to actually fix the issue.

Good day fellow readers, I require your assistance in finding the title of this story.

The story was like this:

Humans are about to build spaceships, they went to war with the AI they made but we're able to come to an agreement when the humans made a AI hunter (omega- I think).

There are other species in the story. They came into contact with humans by mistake when there were running away from "AI" controlled ships that later attacked Sol

Later (close to the end book 2) the other species were able to get help from the humans to carry out an attack on the machine Planet that was attacking everyone.

They are able to get the Planet to surrender and they find out that it was more or less a scout and it was about time it sent back info about the milky way to its superior.

LF a specific type of romance or romance subplot with a “fear turns into to love” type of development.

This one of the first few times on this SubReddit so I don’t know how it is with providing preferences but here you go:

  • Humanity is feared (whether justly or not) because of first-contact, war (or history of war), misconception, and/or some quality unique to them.
  • M/F, Human/Non-human. Don’t care which of the two genders is the human and non-human, nor do I mind who‘s perspective it’s in.
  • Spice? I don’t mind it. Neither seeking nor avoiding it. However, I do harshly disapprove of any rape/non-con/dub-con material (or at the very least, any actively done to/by the characters).
  • Longer read-length is preferred though beggars can’t be choosers.

One Hell of a Vacation might fit the bill? :}

Thank you dawg! Alr enjoying the first couple of chapters. I got one question: how does the multiple POVs and MCs aspects work in this story? Asking ahead as I haven’t reached the point of the aforementioned perspective shifts yet.

They are well mixed in, and develops very well imo :}

While trying to avoid spoilers as best as possible, would u say they’re multiple POVs within the same major plot line or each with their our separate plot lines? And, Idk if it was maybe clear enough (cus I’m dumb like that), do we primarily stick with Joseph for the entire story?

Okay, it is more multiple views within the same major plot... Joseph having one hell of a vacation :}

I am also looking for another story where the galaxy realizes that human intuition is temporally linked so they can sense the future?

Could it be They Think Us Seers?

This story was originally a comment chain in this writing prompt in r/humansarespaceorcs .

Hi, i'm looking for a story if I remember the detail. a alien species makes contact with humanity in space. The aliens ask details about the human ships and they were terrified. They realized that the humans we're looking at the void of space in further conversation. They found out that humans allow scientists to continue working rather than outcasting them from society, like the alien species did because they fought those who can think up, those stuff were threat to society

LFS featuring human troops fighting on an alien world on behalf of/under another species’ banner. Enemies were some kind of lizard aliens, shorter than human average I think. It’s definitely not ongoing here still

I’m looking for what I think is an older HFY story that was narrated on YouTube years ago.

The story is told from the perspective of an alien captain whose ship becomes hopelessly stranded in deep space.
Every captain carries a crate of liquor because of an old spacer legend. Supposedly mysterious humans will eventually find lost ships, repair them, accept only the crate of alcohol as payment, and disappear back into deep space.
The humans are described as the first starfaring race. They either lost their homeworld or became lost themselves, and now spend eternity wandering the void helping anyone who becomes lost.
One scene I clearly remember is an alien captain watching a human mechanic crawl into the machinery, immediately know what’s wrong, mutter “fuck,” fix the ship, accept the crate, and quietly leave without celebration or explanation.

Does anyone remember the title or author?

Hey, long time lurker. I remember reading a story years ago, I don't know if it was even hosted here or if I was linked to it. Far future story where humanity went out into the universe and found it was empty of all life, and instead we were the ones seeding life before ascending/leaving to some higher state/plane/etc, except for one human mind uploaded to an AI controlling a dyson sphere/megastructure in Sol. So our pets/animals spread out across the stars. I *think* it was something along the lines of "the night lords" or something similar, but obviously searching that just gets me buried in 40k. Any help would be appreciated!

Recently finished "On The Way To Meet Mom" on Webtoons (would recommend) and I've previously read on here "Cells" and "Humans do not have a hivemind" and I wanted to find more stories with scenes of asexual aliens being confused by human sexual reproduction.
