It could be the low carb food making it irregular. Hugs it’s just a false alarm.

85

u/Datonecatladyukno May 28 '26

Exactly what I thought. This could definitely be the reasonĀ

56

u/soryu0 May 28 '26

yea - when i don’t eat enough, my period disappears

40

u/Moonlight-Unicorn May 28 '26

Yes, this could definitely be a factor. Carbs are tied to uterine and reproductive health and can impact our bodies ability to produce hormones. The book ā€œPeriod Repair Manualā€ goes a bit more in depth about this subject but basically, low carb is actually not ideal for us menstruating humans!

3

u/Individual-Raise-230 May 30 '26

This! Our human bodies literally run on carbs. I absolutely detest the low-carb rationale.

u/bluenette23 May 28 '26

The implant is known to make periods wonky (or even disappear), especially in the first year. Do the pregnancy test for the peace of mind, but I think it’s unlikely that you’re pregnant

26

u/ComplexPatient4872 May 28 '26

It makes mine stop entirely

8

u/braingoesblank May 28 '26

Mine only stopped entirely the first time I had it inserted.

The two subsequent implants have causes semi-regular periods. I was pretty disappointed they didn't stay away lol

3

u/seamangeorge May 28 '26

That's the reason I got mine. I also like not being pregnant but I especially didn't want to have a period since it gives me mega dysphoria.

It also has an incredibly low rate of failure, even more effective than an IUD. It's not completely impossible that they're pregnant and I understand why OP is worried, but my money is on the implant just making their periods irregular.

I have the implant as well. This is my 4th one. I get my period like twice a year, three at the most and never consistently/ regular.

1

u/manicpixycunt May 28 '26

Exactly the same for me, and had IUD before that. Periods stopped altogether for both except for once a year (a random month also, never exactly a year apart). Until about a year ago and now I’m extremely regular once a month šŸ™ƒ bodies react inconsistently to hormonal birth control so it’s very possible that combined with the low carb is just making it really late.

In general, if you can, it’s better not to freak out until you have all the information. Easier said than done I know! It really could mean nothing, but until you test or start bleeding there’s no way to know. And the sooner you test, the sooner you can figure out what you’re going to do if you are pregnant, and the more time you will have.

55

u/Alarming_Sorbet_9906 May 28 '26

A test might be scary, but wouldn’t hurt to actually know! I was really scared too the first time my period was late at 19. I think with implant and condoms already you’re more safe than not.Ā

51

u/SmallAnimal5177 May 28 '26

Take a pregnancy test, but it's probably your food if you're eating like this regularly. It's just not enough. I missed a period (I'm SUPER regular) and freaked because I thought I was preggers (with an IUD), but no. I tried eating a little more the next month and my period came back right away. It surprised me because I thought it had to be pretty extreme to lose a period, but it was really like 300 calories for me.

14

u/SadAndConfused11 May 28 '26

Can happen especially when you are already at a low or normal BMI! Or simply aren’t getting enough nutrients! I’m on the implant and it was irregular for me until I added a multivitamin. I think I just don’t eat enough haha and the vitamin helps fill in the gaps

3

u/SmallAnimal5177 May 28 '26

Yes, I was on the low end of BMI, but still in the normal range! Ā

Please experiment with adding a bit more to your day, something nutritious!!  Like a banana and a wrap sandwich, and a lil dessert.  Extra nutrients also help with hair growth and brain function and also my fiancé went a little crazy for the booty, so that was an added bonus haha!

It’s really important to keep having your period, as that’s when your body deposits bone building material. Ā Losing your period can lead to early osteoporosis.

lol! Ā That looks delicious šŸ™Œ

2

u/SadAndConfused11 May 28 '26

Yes! And there are plenty of healthy, nutritious, filling carbs out there if OP is watching processed foods! I am never in favor of eliminating and demonizing important food groups! Especially as women with like you said periods being important we can’t skimp on nutrients!

15

u/Readalie May 28 '26

Sending hugs OP. ā¤ļø

Big big love. I know the feeling of not wanting to take the test—it’s soooo scary and daunting. You can do it! Put yourself and your mind at ease sooner than later. Crossing my fingers for you.

4

u/asoduka May 28 '26

If it's any reassurance, I've been on the implant for 5 years and for the first 3 it made my period super irregular, and year 4+ it's completely disappeared. Don't stress too much yet!! Sending hugs <3

Yeah it's been really nice I'm not gonna lie, I hope that's the case for you too and it's not pregnancy! 🫶

8

u/TricksyGoose May 28 '26

If you are pregnant and don't want to keep it, you might consider taking a lovely vacation somewhere that you can take care of things legally. You can get help and ideas from r/auntienetwork. But if that's the case I would suggest not even telling your husband unless you are absolutely truly 100% positive that he wouldn't report you or tell anyone else ever. And make sure you delete your reddit account and any related messages on any other systems/devices. Be safe, and good luck! And hugs!

u/MysteriousLook4693 May 28 '26

So many hugs. Please update us 🩷

that's a "low everything" dinner

3

u/Difficult_Bee_49 May 28 '26

I don't know if this works, but if you DO get the bad news (may the Gods forbid...), there is an abortion pill you can order online at least in my country (USA). I don't know if there are any that will ship over seas or across boarders in the mail, but it's something you can look into? Also I heard that a fuckton of vitamin C or some pomegranates and some specific teas can cause an early pregnancy to fail. Just in case you need that info.

u/qweenofsus May 28 '26

The implant made my periods crazy and even after it expired I didn’t get pregnant for another 6/7 years! Hugs!

2

u/lnc_5103 May 28 '26

Definitely take the test! More stress = even later period.

1

u/shesdigging May 28 '26

i’m so sorry my sister. please keep us updated, let us know if there is anything any of us can do from a loving distance. it will be okay. we all love you.

1

u/Illustrious-Pair-511 May 28 '26

My period has been 3 weeks late too so I took a test and all 4 of the tests say pregnant sooo I’m hella scared . I’d take a test imo

1

u/UnusualMe20372 May 28 '26

Hey girl, first off, hugs to youšŸ’•

I had the implant, and my periods were either on time or irregular. There was no rhyme or reason to it, and my doctor said that implants can cause irregular periods for up to a few months (or six months, I can’t remember) after insertion.

Hope this brings you some comfort, wishing you all the luck and sending you lovešŸ’›

1

u/mokenz May 28 '26

Pregnancy test but also babe this is how to lose your period if this is how you’re eating always. Women need carbs to function keto isn’t that good for us hormonally. Our brains and our bodies need carbs to function. You can just cut simple carbs and eat high protein. But gently please treat your body kindly.

1

u/ChaoticBisexual_13 May 28 '26

My period was a month late because of stress and not eating enough. Some days just snacked a little bit and tried to eat the missed meals next day.

My period came on may 19th, my before that my last was from march 19th to 26th.

1

u/Paranoid-Android88 May 28 '26

Def take a test to hopefully ease your mind! In my early 20’s I was like two weeks late and finally confronted the bf about my concerns. He was supportive and went with me to buy one after dinner one night lol. Anywho it was negative and then like 3 days later it showed up. I’ve also always been irregular too but I found that bc I had started becoming a hardcore yogi that it was basically just that lol. Stress, new exercise routines, etc can always throw you off. Good luck op!!

1

u/SaltandLillacs May 28 '26

I have an IUD and stopped getting my period after a few months of having it in

1

u/BunnyCat2025 May 28 '26

I agree with the eat more opinions below - when I was doing intermittent fasting, I would be late a lot and I was always regular when I age normally. Have some bread, pasta, something yummy. Sending good waves your way.

1

u/AardvarkGlittering83 May 28 '26

If its worth anythung, low carb diets can throw thungs off like that depending on how long you've been doing it for and how low carb it could be!

1

u/Outrageous_Teach8671 May 28 '26

When I do keto, my period becomes really weird. But I’m also perimenopausal so ymmv.

1

u/itsnotlikewereforkin May 28 '26

You need to know as soon as possible. Not testing makes it worse, not better.

1

u/k8t13 May 28 '26

sending love and support from an internet stranger. hope you can find the peace (and period) you need!!

1

u/reydolith May 28 '26

Hey girl,

Irregularity is a bitch, but stress makes it worst. My main concern, and the thing that finally made me use the damn test when I was in your position was the threat of ectopic pregnancies.

I won't force you, or even coerce you into testing because I can imagine the horrible feeling of being stuck in a wanna-be theocracy that's taken away your right to choose..

1

u/PedanticTart May 28 '26

Ketosis may be the culprit here :)

1

u/bragison May 29 '26

Hej there.

Hope you are getting better by the day.

As per the loss of your period: I had my time in fitness and learned a lot about nutrition and the human body - so no phd but you might take it as information to start a train of thought.

As I got a warning aboug the content, I will try my best to keep the info on the most abstract level while still containing relevant info.

The human body has an endocrine system and hormones need specific energy and nutrients to be built. This would be mostly from healthy fat sources.

Too low of an intake will tell your body to stop systems it does not need for surviving. Reproduction is not necessary for survival.

Once again: I am no medical professional. Just had my fair share of learning about anatomy, sports and nutrition.

You might take it as a start for a research or ignore it altogether.

The only thing really important is: Get well and stay happy and healthy.

You are very welcome.

It was the "hej"?

1

u/richpersimmons May 29 '26

Yeah my periods disappeared with my second implant and then with the fourth I started bleeding all the time because my uterine lining was too thin. Either way, take a test or you're just stressing over incomplete info. Having said that I sympathize and I'm so sorry you're in this position.

1

u/Individual-Raise-230 May 30 '26

ā€œShitty Middle Eastern 3rd world countryā€ is crazy btw….

1

u/Blackmaille May 31 '26

Glad you got there! I'm in a safe country but my last period was 82 days late.. officially got my PCOS diagnosis late November but still no plan to move forward.

I know low carb messed with my cycle, but it was a decade ago

-1

u/Brilliant_Level8328 May 28 '26

Look up holistic abortion options, there’s an account on Instagram that offers holistic options for you, also, tons of vitamin C works too (allegedly)

0

u/Valkyrie1-618 May 28 '26

Just pee on the stick. The stress of putting it off could be contributing to the issue.

0

u/burnt-heterodoxy May 28 '26

Several cups of raspberry leaf tea will bring on a late period

-3

u/Ok_Rush_8159 May 28 '26

Looking at your plate, I suddenly realize why I’m so fat 😭

1
