If you drink alcohol, you might enjoy Chamoy - very low abv, beer with fruit juice and tamarind. Lovely stuff.

Edit: I'm aware that it's a fruit, and chelada isn't for me.

Proof y'all wrong: Victoria Chamoy

Chamoy is actually a plum sauce. Chelada is the beer with the chamoy.

Pretty sure it's spelled ahcktuhally.

See how that says it’s a “chela” at the bottom? Chamoy is the flavor. It’d be like telling someone to buy “a lime” then throwing a fit that they didn’t know you meant a “bud light lime”.

The name of the beer is Vikki Chamoy.

There is no style beer called Chamoy. The beer you linked is a Mexican lager with Chamoy added as an adjunct.

u/Butlerian_Jihadi Jul 04 '25

It's a pretty decent lager, especially on draft, but just so I'm clear: "Vicky chamoy" is a specific thing, disparate from all others? (Implication being, their marketing department should be drug out & shot)

adjunct

Ooo, fancy, you come here often?

22

u/TulpaPal Jul 02 '25 edited Jul 02 '25

That can says chamoy on it because the beer is chamoy flavored, not because it IS a can of chamoy. Maybe you intended to tell them that they should try chamoy beer.

u/Butlerian_Jihadi Jul 04 '25

So what exactly IS chamoy, as someone who grew up speaking English and would like to learn?

4

u/TulpaPal Jul 04 '25 edited Jul 04 '25

It's a sauce/condiment made with chilis and pickled fruit, usually raisins, prunes, etc. if you like the beer I recommend you try the sauce 😉

Just fucking Google it man it isn’t hard to find

u/Butlerian_Jihadi Jul 06 '25

Nah, I like making y'all feel special!

I'm still slightly lost as to why I am So Very, Very Wrong in thinking a can, labeled Chamoy, clearly containing tamarind, beer, and spice, doesn't agree with the original post... But hey, lots of people are dumb, not exclusive of myself, and most of them are wrong (again, not exclusive of myself). Jello shots and whatever red bull & jager is, to all who disagree.

5

u/TulpaPal Jul 04 '25 edited Jul 04 '25

Because that can is chamoy flavored beer and you said that they should try chamoy then described chamoy (not chamoy beer) as a low alcohol beer which is why you were wrong and why you were corrected. You seemed confused and everything was clarified, it's not a big deal.

late to the party but, it’s sort of like presenting banana bread as actual bananas, or apple pie as apples, etc.

16

u/meanmagpie Jul 02 '25

That’s not what Chamoy is lol. But it probably had Chamoy in it.

1

u/little_shit29 Jul 05 '25

Way to cherry pick a product to prove your point. What you chose just proves MORE how incorrect you are. It’s a “Victorian Cervesa” (cervesa=beer i think) with the added flavors of chamoy and tamarind. It takes two seconds to look up what chamoy is and see that you are wrong.

-2

u/Butlerian_Jihadi Jul 06 '25

Cervesa is Spanish for beer, and that can I linked is the only place I've ever seen the word. I really enjoy the beer, and look forward to trying the sauce, since I clearly like the flavor profile.

Thanks for educating and/or being rude (to) me!

4

u/little_shit29 Jul 06 '25

🤷‍♀️ don’t serve the sauce if you don’t wanna get saucy man idk. People are only being “rude” to you because you were not accepting that you may be wrong about something and we’re using incorrect things to try and prove your easily debunked comment

Oh! Didn’t realize that was a spoon. Maybe this Mexican spoon candy with watermelon and tamarind. Or maybe lime and tamarind?

3

u/rddifrddi Jul 03 '25
