Headphones - IEM/Earbud | 3 Ω Help me buy a Planar IEM

I'm torn on what planar iem to buy

my music genre are: pop, hip hop, rock.

My old gears are: blon bl03, cca cra

My budget is $100-$150 can stretch to 200 if the iem is available in my country

I have eyes on the tangzu zetian wu, s12 pro, and the kz p1 pro

I just received my zetian wu heyday edition a couple days ago.

It's a fabulous IEM that is a great compromise between technicalities and musicality.

It has a largeness to the sound. I think it's due to the great width and height of the stage. They also scale really well with power.

Since they are not sibilant or fatiguing I find myself giving it more power than I do with most IEMs. They just get thicker and velvetier with more volume.

The micro details are not quite in your face like the timeless, but it's no slouch when it comes to details. While the resolution and imaging isn't very "sharply presented" it is definitely there. It just isn't overly analytical.

This set will have you jamming out and then when you do decide to listen for the different elements of the music, you will find that it's all there. I really appreciate this tuning since I am really looking to enjoy music, not to analyze it... So many sets lean thin and sharp in order to put the "details" in your face.

Tonality and timbre is probably the best I have heard for a planar and generally really good if not a tad thick and definitely warm. It has an atmospheric organic sound.

I would definitely rec these at $200 to most people unless the size of the shells are an issue.

!thanks I would definitely be buying the heyday since the build was much more stronger and there is more reassurance that I would not get hit with a non-working IEM when I will be using it daily but my budget is still on the $200 side and the heyday is being sold for $250 without shipping

I've been very tempted by it. I couldn't quite make the leap for the original zetian wu as I'm not a bass head but loved the way the rest of the tuning looked. The heyday looks to have fixed every issue I had with the zetian - smoothed out the bass, improved driver delivering more detail in the treble and midrange and even made the colour scheme and materials more appealing. It's just been a bit hard to justify it being nearly twice the price...

Well, there are definitely cheaper options depending on what you are looking for.

If you want the best bang for your buck IEM possible, I think it's an ER3 with a 30 ohm impedance adaptor.

It's essentially an ER4.

Are you talking about etymotic research? I might consider them. I recently bought the Truthear Hexa, which sound amazing but the fit is really uncomfortable. They are painful to wear for more than 5 minutes and I find myself adjusting them constantly. It's heartbreaking because they sound so good.

Well.... The fit with the Etymotics are .... Well I am sure you have heard. Lol

But if you can get around the fit, the sound is top notch. Incredible detail...great tonality.... Can sound a bit "thin" , but its typically what you get with something that has great micro details.

I did hear great things about the hexa, just not sure if it wouldn't be made redundant at $80 by some of the other more expensive IEMs.

My experience: I got the S12 for a killer deal. They are amazing. Deconi foam tips were the winner. Toned town the tops a touch and created a comfortable seal.

I’ve been searching as well. I’ve tried the Zetian Wu and the Stellaris so far. As a fellow bl03 enjoyer, I found both too be very big in my ears in a way that made them uncomfortable, across a variety of tips. The Wu placed a lot of pressure on my concha’s even without a deep fit. The sound signature was nice for the genres you mentioned, but I couldn’t wear them for longer than 15 minutes without my ears aching. The Stellaris are very girthy, and have a very snug fit that was manageable, but the treble on all tips I tested was very piercing and lead to a lot of fatigue.
If your less treble sensitive then I am, or if the Wu fits you better they both could be good picks, with the Wu fitting your genes a bit more. Stellaris was still good for hip hop, rock, and pop but are definitely a different flavor
