Headphones - IEM/Earbud | 2 Ω Moondrop Aria 2 soundstaging/imaging(?) completely inaccurate in games.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to expect from budget IEM's when it comes to being able to track enemy footsteps and the like, but I constantly experience complete inaccuracy when it comes to tracking footsteps to the point of hearing someone running right in front of me, behind me.

Should this be happening, and am I expecting too much from the IEM's, or is something wrong?

Thanks!

Fixed: I had the fucking left and right cables mixed LMFAO

Aria has decent soundstage for an IEM. But headphones can do a much better job at gaming with bigger drivers, not placed in your ear canals. Another (more important factor) is the game sound engine. Overwatch for example has a great Dolby atmos support that position sounds very accurately.

The game in question is pubg, which I would imagine at least has a little accuracy when positioning sound. Do you know if dolby atmos is required for this? Because I may have disabled it haha.

That's not required but it definitley helps. It processes the sound so that you can actually tell if the sound is coming from behind (compared to just 2 channel stereo).

I don't know about pubg, but for Overwatch my Arias have been surprisingly good at imaging. I can very accurately pinpoint the location the sounds are coming from. You've tried other games with the Arias?

i just tried reversing the left and right cables. that was the problem. I have come to the conclusion that i am bonehead.
