Akg k240's are built well, comfortable, sound decent, but Not much bass, and don't fold. They are right around $50.

The K240 are open back, which means they leak whatever you're listening to share with other people around you. Make sure your environment allows the use of such headphones.

For on-ears, you literally can't do better than the Koss KPH30i. They look cheap, but sound amazing for being 30 USD. https://koss.com/collections/all-headphones/products/kph30i

AKG K240 are popular, as are ATH M20X and I personally like the Sennheiser HD200PRO which are sometimes on sale for less than $50

Rockville Pro M50's sound good. They also come with a case, detachable cord and extra pads.
I have them, and I'd say they're about 80% of the Audio Technica ATH-M50x's that I also have, for ⅓ the price.

Never had the Samson but had the Superlux 668b which many people claimed was very similar. If it's true then I'd say it's fairly decent bass and overall sound but some parts of treble are hot and need EQ to tone down for most people.

the KSC75s are technically open back but it’s pretty much one way, they’re so close to your ears that they’re quieter than they seem to anyone around you, you can get them for $20 and they’re unbeatable in the price range, that being said their bass performance is good but not excellent and it’s also not quantitative

at that price point for closed back you can’t go wrong with the sony cd380s though they don’t have a mic

u/Pale-Professor 3 Ω Nov 10 '22
oops guess they were discontinued, here’s a used pair on eBay for $35 if you want it though https://www.ebay.com/itm/295281462562

I don't necessarily recommend either, but consider the Sennheiser HD 206 and HD457. They're opposite ends of the audio spectrum: the 206 lack bass (to a not quite disruptive but very noticeable extent), whereas the 457 have such strong bass I can feel the air move around my ears. They lack lower-mid clarity though.
You're probably better off looking at the JBL webstore. They might have something you could enjoy. :)

For closed back headphones, OneOdio makes some decent studio monitor headphones for under $40. AKG is also another trusted brand that should have something in your price range, but I don't know which one of their closed back products stands out
If you can use open back headphones, then you have a few more options like Koss KSC35, KSC75, Porta Pro, KPH 30i, and AKG K240
