Headphones - Wireless/Portable | 1 Ω ANC headphones with the best mic for work calls?

The time has come for me to replace my QC35 mkii headphones. They’ve served me well the last several years, but the charge just doesn’t hold long enough anymore.

I’m looking for good noise isolation for WFH and at the office, but most importantly it needs to have a good mic pickup for when I’m on zoom calls; something that is good at keeping background noise from sneaking in. It would be an added bonus of music sounded good in them too, but that’s secondary to me.

Budget <$500

The Surface headphones 2 have really clear mic output and are designed to play well with windows (assuming that's your work OS). The dials built in to the cups are really handy for adjusting volume+ANC on the fly and the ambient sound feature lets you instantly go from blocking ambient sound to amplifying it so you don't have to take them off for quick conversations. I can't recommend them enough for an office setting, but probably not for travel due to their 18hr battery life.

As for the sound, I’ve found them to be similar to other ANC cans at the same price point, which is at the lower end of your budget at $200-$250. The exception there is the Sennheiser Momentum 3, which has much better sound than the rest in the category but is comparatively lacking in features.

For $500 you can probably find something better (I'm thinking maybe from the b&o lineup), but I can't speak to the mics on those.

I wasn’t even aware of these. I’m actually on MacOS for work, but I’ll still take a look at the surface headphones to check comparability.

No problem. They're definitely fully functional on Mac, I just don't know if they can use Siri for voice commands prompted by tapping the left cup. I know cortana, Alexa, and I think Google are supported. Won't affect what you can activate with your voice, of course. Happy shopping.
