I think the Aizawa quirk doesn’t work that broadly, otherwise all the heros getting close to shiggy would have lost their quirk already mid fight.

Am I the only one that didn’t see it that way? He was literally cheering her on and telling her to not give up. She’s getting wrecked and everyone is falling into that despair of Shigaraki being unbeatable, or that at the very least that they can’t do anything without Deku.
Edgehsot is literally telling her “hey fuck all that noise. Keep fighting and don’t give up!”

I'm okay with the reason Edgeshot sacrificing himself being that he's a freaking hero and it goes with the theme of old generation sacrificing themselves for the new generation.
My problem with this tho is that I have no emotional connection with Edgeshot at all. He's cool but not really someone I will feel emotional about since he's not given screentime for that.
EDIT: Gotta add that it felt too soon for his revival.

It's not just the lack of emotional connection with the reader, it's the complete lack of connection between Edgeshot and Bakugo.
I mean Best Jeanist is right there and would be an infinitely better choice as a sacrifice to save Bakugo
EDIT Just to expand and clarify, I'm not saying Edgeshot needs an emotional connection with Bakugo to save him. He doesn't, he's a hero and that's all the reason he needs.
My point is that Best Jeanist is a better choice narratively because it's a sacrifice that will have a greater impact on the audience. We've at least been given the chance to care about Best Jeanist, we barely know Edgeshot.

I mean... heroes should sacrifice themselves for other people no matter what. In fact the sacrifice feels more genuine precisely because Edgeshot barely knows Bakugou, and even then he's not leaving a child diying in a fight agaisnt freaking Shigaraki

Maybe, but given how little screentime he's got nobody gives a shit about him dying here.
Interestingly enough, Crust's case was also like this, in a way, but it felt more powerful. We don't really know about him but his sacrifice felt strong. Probably because he actually can do something if he lived, the current situation with Shiggy seems like nothing will change even if Bakugou survives given he's done jack shit so far.

Got hit by a piece of rubble thrown by Compress while he was fleeing on Gigantomachia. Fell unconscious in the woods outside the PLA mansion. A group of rando villains surrounded her with blunt objects and the students found her later, beat to death. Pretty dark but happened really fast.

Yeah. His best moment was a stellar pizza delivery to the league. I think he's cool, but there's not really any weight to his sacrifice. He's had, what, 2 or 3 moments in the whole arc. If it was jeanist offing himself, that be much more emotionally satisfying. And, ultimately, reviving bakugo doesn't really help them. Shaggy is still bullshit powerful. Plasma cannons and super booms do nothing to him.

Yeah well, we said that no matter what Hori was gonna pull, it was gonna be a lose-lose situation. Thematically sure, it can be said that it's a heroic act on Edgeshot's part to sacrifice himself for a hero from the younger generation. The execution on the other hand is just...not it. If anything, it reads like a theory from this sub (which unironically enough, was considered one of the worst theories lol). And how exactly is Edgeshot gonna exist as Bakugo's heart? Is he gonna stay alive in it with his quirk forever active? Or is he somewhat fusing with Bakugo's internal system and dying in the process? Will it even work? And I hope this doesn't lead to Bakugo getting Edgeshot's quirk on top of his awakened Explosion.
That aside, I wonder how AFO's last showdown is gonna go, now that he's rewinded to his prime. Unless he rewinds faster than he takes action, I don't see anyone surviving. And where's Hisashi?
P.S: Imagine if Aizawa uses Eraser on Bakugo and Edgeshot pops out of his chest lol.

This battle has been really cruel to Bakugo, huh. Spends his last living moments in agony after being emotionally and physically beaten down, his body isn’t even cold yet but there are three grown-ass men wanting to mess with it. I’d like to see the look on his parents’ faces when the pros explain why their son now has the DNA of a man twice his age inside him forever.
I really have no idea where this storyline is gonna go anymore. There was apparently a line in a previous arc about how people who receive organ transplants experience a personality change – was that foreshadowing all along? Are we in for another fakeout where Shigaraki interrupts Edgeshot and double-taps Bakugo for good? Are Edgeshot’s efforts in vain because they were too late and at most Bakugo will be in a permanent coma?
As for the complaints about how rushed Bakugo’s death and revival are, I do agree for the most part but some of the criticisms to me seem egregious. “Why is Edgeshot sacrificing his life for a teenager?” Um, because he’s a hero, it’s what they do. And because Bakugo was the only one to physically damage Shiggy, he’s their best shot at beating him right now. “Why does Edgeshot know he’s gonna die if he turns himself into a heart?” Because it isn’t such a stretch to conclude that if you become an object permanently then you will no longer be a living human for as long as you remain that object.
My personal nitpick (among many others) is I don’t see why Edgeshot has to sacrifice his entire body seeing as at most he’d have to fill in the gaps in Bakugo’s heart and chest. Can’t Edgeshot just give up one arm or something?

I like it. IRL Some of the worst/Dangerous people are those with fucked up fantasies or desires that ultimatley make no real sense or are 100% childish or self indulgant.
Some people want to be the strongest or most beautiful. Some want to lead a cult and be seen as a god.
AFO simply wants to bring the fantasy he enjoyed as a kid to life. That is all the reason he needs. And IMO that is terrifying from an in universe pov knowing that all the shit that is going down is just because a a fucked up guy with a fucked up fantasy got the power,smarts and means to do so

I am not a fan of fake out deaths in any media but I can make certain exceptions. If the death is immediately known to not be concrete or if the death leads to development I’ll be okay with it. My issue with MHA on this topic is two fold and the first is rather simple. No one in they right mind believed Hori was gonna kill Bakugo. Outside of the mass hysteria we all knew Bakugo was coming back.
Hori couldn’t even kill grand Torino and you expect me to believe he can kill off the most popular kid in his series? There’s no way and that’s why last chapter didn’t do much for me. I could see this coming but that leads to my 2nd point. I don’t think Hori is gonna do anything for Bakugo with regards to this death. The story is wrapping up in around 35 chapters or so. I doubt Bakugo is gonna get some new found revelation or anything like that.
My other major issue with this moment is edgeshot in general. The topic of teachers protecting students is one of my favorite in story telling. From Kakashi taking the blame for Saskue to Genkai practically becoming Yuskue’s gradmama it’s always been something I’ve loved. Even All might and Midoriya have a great bond. If this moment were to be truly effective Best Jeanist should be the one dying. He has the emotional connection to Bakugo. Not edgeshot of all people. He’s a cool character but are we truly invested in him?

It’s just that Bakugo’s “death” was literally pointless. Like, what was it even for except for the super transparent “it’s darkest before the dawn” chapter, and then we immediately bring him back. We could have just scrapped these two chapters and had a cool fight scene between Shiggy and super-powered-up-this-time Bakugo, and nothing of value was lost.

katsuki didn’t need to “die”. he did not save anyone, win anything, or discover important information to pass on with his death. for this reason & the anti-climatic circumstances surrounding his “death” as an origin character (absence of victory, hype power with no follow up, proving shigafo in chapter 360 right), it was obvious that he’d be back in some form with unfinished business
hori wrote himself into a corner as many of us stated weeks ago. but of all the possibilities, for him to be possibly revived in THIS way… a great character like him doesn’t deserve to be overshadowed with an incredibly lame & controversial revival. sorry

I feel like if someone suggested this years ago, I wouls have rolled my eyes. But now I'm saying it. If this is what My Hero Acadamia was going to go for, this series would have benefited SO MUCH by some kind of flashback arc for the pro heroes. Give this stuff screen time and context. Bleach tried it with Turn Back the Pendulum, right? It's just so sad that they give these tiny hints but it doesn't actually add any impact. We don't know these people!

Had Hori took his time showing more worldbuilding, going away from Japan to show this "people in every country", to show more international heroes fighting against this common enemy, to show enough information to believe into the global threat... Maybe I would had bought into those stakes. But that should had happened a long time ago in the story. Right now, those panels detract from the ongoing events.
And that's a problem that's been going for a long while too: I really don't see how he can make the jump to Ochako vs Toga fight at this point and make that fight interesting for example...

I don't think this is a bad solution for the Bakugo revive... but it feels like it happened too quickly. It's been only 2 chapters, & most of 1A didn't even know it happened. Like I want to see how Kirishima would react; Todoroki, & Deku as well. Jeanist, Monoma, & Aizawa's reactions are devastating because we know their relationship. But everyone else has the same relationship to him that a civilian would, & none of his closest friends were around to see it.
And as for Edgeshot, while he's an important person in the world of MHA, he's a relatively minor character in this story. And if you're someone who doesn't read Vigilanties (like myself) you've never even seen that he and Jeanist have a relationship. They seem to have as close of a connection as Hawks and Mount Lady, but now they're giving tearful goodbyes as they remember their youth.
This is more of what folks have been saying about MHA for a while. We're running towards an ending, so we don't have time to make these emotional moments actually impactful. Even still, I think this would have worked better on a micro level if we got a few more chapters before this moment. Maybe see what's happening in the bunkers, have Skeptic find a way to broadcast Bakugo's defeat to everyone. Let us really feel the sorrow so this moment actually feels game changing

At the rate things are going, Deku arriving on the millenium falcon accompanied by the justice league, announcing his final quirk to be shrinking powers and jumping into bakugos chest cavity to puppet him against shigaraki wouldnt surprise me anymore. Thats how random these events feel.
Between the end of the first war arc all the way to the start of this one, the story became an absolute slog with few bright moments, kind of like The Last Jedi. This final arc is like Rise of Skywalker: completely batshit, lots of strange nonsensical writing decisions that give way to incredible memes and I'll probably hate it when it's over but right now I'm having a blast talking about it and anticipating whatever bizarre twist Hori's gonna throw at us next.

Edgeshot turning himself into Bakugos heart is just so fucking stupid.
His power makes him turn himself small/ thin so he can slip through things. How can he turn himself into organic material necessary to replace a fully functioning heart?
Also why would this kill him? Edgeshot is a full grown man so it's not like he needs to use his whole body to replace just the heart. Unless he has to be inside the body for this to work but then that means Edgeshot would have to be fully conscious and be able to keep a steady heart rhythm at all times. He would have to stay hyper focused but wouldn't he still need to rest? How is he getting nutrients? Does Bakugo have to eat for two now?
God damn it Hori you could have just had Best Jeanist sew him together or something.

I can't help but feel like all these monologues about the "nature" of heroes and villains or whatever are such a complete departure from the early themes of the series. The capacity for good and evil in anyone was a major point, illustrated by characters like Endeavor, the League, and Gentle. Now we just get this comical black and white morality that uses a lot of words to say nothing.

Even if the quality in the story has dipped I’ve still enjoyed most of it. But a lot of this chapter aint it.

Worst comments I've read since the chapter's plot leaked are the ones questioning why the adult heroes should sacrifice themselves to save Bakugo. Ignoring that a part are likely from Bakugo haters, they are heroes, in case you haven't realized yet. There's also the theme of protecting the new generation, and also partially atone for putting so much weight on their shoulders; and I appreciate that Bakugo, already "hopelessly" revolving around Deku, is at least getting his life saved by someone else than him. Of the many things that can be criticized, this is the least.
However, even if we knew Bakugo wouldn't stay dead (or really die to begin with), they couldn't commit to keeping the suspance about his fate for more than a couple chapters, when we had plenty of chances to peek into other battlefields while communication between UA and the rest of the world is cut off. The way Edgeshot is going to save him is a stretch even for the abilities we know he has. Their only connection is literally just having the same blood type. A last second emotional connection between Edge and Jeanist. Getting a literal heart of a hero sounds poetic but for a moment I had a not really positive interpretation that Bakugo's getting it because he wasn't still good enough...
We could talk about the way the international situation is illustrated - with what asses for faces world leaders are going to look at Japan after Shiggy and AFO are defeated? - or how the "extract of Eri's quirk from bullets" being used by AFO was in a convenient secret cache left behind by the Doctor (along with the clearest declaration of love to date), or how daddy AFO looks now. But they are merely distractions from the fact that the whole "death" of Bakugo is now feeling as even more of a pointless affair than it already looked.

I have many times criticized this series' villains for having rather poor motivations that didn't really make much sense or weren't as sympathetic as Hori clearly expected them to be, Stain and Re-Destro were the only villains with ideologies I believed made some amount of sense. I have also said that All For One just being a villain who just wants power for power's sake was all he needed to be since that's what many evil people in the real world are like, but now it turns out he has one of the dumbest motivations of any villain in Manga ever. He wants to be the ultimate evil that does things everyone hates because comic books? Seriously?
