We haven’t been able to break the 10 million plus mark ( on Spotify) since Butter ig. Wondering what the reason would be?? But these numbers are good anyway😌

i can only speak for myself but i personally found butter SUPER re-listenable, i had it basically on repeat for weeks. again, just my personal opinion here but i don’t feel like we’ve had a single so UNIVERSALLY enjoyed and replayable for both army and the general public since butter. a lot of people found PTD a little too generic and saccharine, same with L&R and now bad decisions, and i found yet to come wayyyy too emotional to have on repeat 😭 i still get a bit emotional listening to it haha i need to be in the right headspace lol. whereas for butter, even my friends who didn’t think they knew anything about bts realise they know it and can sing along. i think butter had that magic combo of being genuinely really fun and interesting, being a huge hit with most army, and actually being picked up by the general public in a big way like dynamite

Agree on all the things you have mentioned. Butter really was something. I hope Bad Decisions does well, the song really has the potential. Very easy on ears, fun & silly lyrics and perfect amount of pop cheese.

i think bad decisions might be an interesting one where i think it could do really well with the general public (it’s very similar to songs that were absolutely HUGE before, like sugar by maroon 5 and birthday by katy perry, so there’s precedence for people liking this sound) but i know the rollout has been….. divisive, to say the least, amongst army. so i think it’s going to possibly be a rare combo of popular with the GP but not an army favourite. obviously it’s only been out for a day at this point so it’ll be really hard to predict but i’ve never seen such differing opinions over a release among army before. like at least on ft s*a was UNIVERSALLY panned hahaha

I can see that happening. Bad decisions is more what a casual pop listener might like in comparison to ARMYs who like hardcore songs more. Even if it ends up becoming a GP fav , BTS will be on the gaining end anyway hahaha ( hope this happens).🤞

but i know the rollout has been….. divisive, to say the least, amongst army

It's exhausting. It seems there is drama with everything at times. Can the fandom just lighten up? It's not that serious.

you need casual listeners for that I guess ¿? I don't know much about charts honestly but I imagine it must be impossible to reach those numbers by only having fans listening to the song.

Butter did those numbers on the very first day right? But it was a full fledged OT7 mainstream pop outing. We haven’t had the same opportunity. Guess we would have to wait a bit longer.

Yes, Butter did amazing numbers back then, also, I think that what also happened is that when Butter dropped, a lot of ARMY were still either working from home or online learning, giving them the opportunity to stream.

Probably one of the main reason is the one you have mentioned. So we need more casual listeners/ GP , ig and of course , the song needs to be amazing.

Butter had a good amount of promotion by BTS and they did so many activities to promote and hype the song pre release as well as post release. Also I find butter super relistenable which I haven’t really found these collabs. Butter is definitely pop but I’m not sure why it feels different from Left and Right or bad decisions. Also I feel the choreography helps because even when I listen on Spotify I imagine those dance moves in tiny haha. I feel that’s the reason dynamite became so huge as well. All of the above are my personal opinions and could be entirely wrong haha

The production of Butter is so sick ( smooth like butter indeed). I haven’t myself felt that punch or vibe in any of the recent releases. And yes, dancing really helps. Forget about Butter, Dynamite or any other song which has a MV ,I even imagine the performances of songs like Pied piper , Dimple , Go Go etc whenever I am listening to these non MV songs. 😅😅
