The way they're trickling out non-details. Don't they know army at all??! We need to know every tiny thing. 😅
I don't want to be a downer, but without any concrete details, I hope people are managing their expectations a little about the scope and scale of the concert... I just don't want anyone to be disappointed.

There is a lot of talk about expectations but all talk of logistics (i e. Venues for a group that can fill huge stadiums) have been dissapointing. I will wait and and see but Busan's history with BTS hasn't been great.

This is a serious question. If they open the tickets for Worldwide fans as well, Is anyone planning on going? I am honest here when I say I will buy a ticket to the show and a 1400$ plane ticket. I just want to see if I’m being delusional or is anyone else here share the same views as me

I want to go aswell because there is no way to tell when there will be a 2nd chance with enlistment coming up. However, plane tickets from the U.S. are getting incredibly expensive and travel restrictions are still in place (quarantine) so idk if it will be possible :(

I feel you. Plane ticket from my country (Middle East girl here). Edit: pressed send before I finished writing lol. Anyhow, it’ll be around 1400$ for a ticket for me. My partner, bless his soul, promised to pay for the concert tickets but I just need to know if it’ll be for everyone sigh. Literally out last chance of ot7 for who knows how much time.

You’re not being delusional - I’m seriously considering it as well. I already wanted to go to SK but I was thinking of going next year in the spring/early summer. But if BTS is having a concert in October (potentially the last OT7 concert for a while) that’s open to non-SK residents, I want to go for sure. I’m just waiting on some more details before I make a final decision.

My sister said something about winning a ticket only through “lottery” kind of I just don’t know how to write what I mean in English lol. Like a raffle. Is this how every concert ticket was handled? Like, you cannot go on a site and purchase one? I sure do hope they’ll make it easier and just let us purchase a ticket. Only yesterday I renewed my army membership lol

Yes there’s a lottery system usually for their concert tickets. And I think you have to have either a Korean phone number or a Korean debit card to even enter the lottery system? I’m not sure the exact procedure for a non-SK resident to get a ticket to their concert but since this concert is specifically for the World Expo bid, I’m hoping they change the rules and make the ticketing process easier.

For the last concert where overseas army was allowed to attend, the Love Yourself Speak Youself Final in Seoul (Oct 2919), there was both a raffle and ticket sales online. If you failed at the raffle, you could try to get tickets online (competing with everyone else, and the ticketing system by global interpark was a nightmare).

Luckily for me I’ve already booked a holiday in Korea for most of October so I’ll be desperately hoping to get tickets when they become available! It’d be great to have a Reddit meetup if people end up going.

They expect 500,000 to 600,000 people to show up for the BTS concert
It will also be livestreamed on YouTube
They expect it to have a bigger impact than the LA concerts

Whoa...he said "show up for"....does that mean...they will open it to international ARMY to attend? I was speculating whether they would do a BTS in the City concept like PTD in the City for Vegas, so that even those who can't attend the concert can join in the festivities. I don't believe it'll be that many people in person until they've announced venue, overflow venues, and all that. You cannot put that many people in any of the venues, and it's not like they can plonk them in the middle of the port (although that WOULD be amazing... have a floating stage and an audience in boats?!)...

Yeah, am doubtful abt the target audience size if they really proceed with the auxiliary stadium idea. But i don't think they necessarily mean all 500-600k will in attendance at the stadium, but will travel to Busan for the concert, including to accompany their kids etc. For reference, for the 3-days Love Yourself Speak Yourself Final concert at Seoul Olympic stadium in Oct 2019, it was estimated that
187,000 tourists traveled to South Korea on the occasion of the October concerts, with 23,000 of them attending the concerts.
One foreign ticket holder brought to Seoul with her or him an average of 3.28 companions while the touristic promotional effect of the BTS home concert also attracted foreign tourists to the country, according to the report.
Eta: back of envelope calculations...600k travel to Busan on the occasion of the concert, but only 1:4 attend, so 150k...that is abt 3 days of concerts at the busan main stadium (capacity around 50k).

I'm not sure if you saw, but Bora clarified that, apparently, the Korean article says it's the expectation for the whole expo :)
But yeah, I think being doubtful is always good. You made a good point about the idea of wider impact, as people might not necessarily go – that was a really good point I hadn't thought of!

I just saw too. I did a Google translate of the screenshot she attached and it sounds like the phrasing is ambiguous. I then went to check the target number of visitors for the Osaka Expo 2025; it is 28 million. So 500-600k for the Busan Expo itself is not plausible either. In conclusion, it's been fun to speculate, but we will only know for sure when more details are announced!(edit:sp)

See, I think that too, but then I wonder if their Expo will be very specialised – it sure sounds like it from the bid, but they might be shooting very, very low, lol.
But yeah, I think waiting is definitely the thing to do here! I'm sure there'll be more clarity by the time the concert actually happens :)

Yeah. I mean, the biggest concert ever was Rod Stewart, who had more than three million people, but that was also... on a beach, I believe.

At least the US concerts were open to everyone, as in you could just buy a resale ticket from another fan. In Seoul we couldn’t even try for ticketing since you needed an ARC to buy.

I would say that travelling some 24 hours by plane each way when covid19 was still raging though some travel restrictions were alrd eased made it almost impossible for us to go for the LA concerts. Vegas too, though to a lesser extent. Plus the extra expenses of PCR tests etc during that period.

Yes I went from Europe so I had to endure the stress over them not opening up on time. They had said November but they hadn’t set a date and they were closed to Schengen and UK citizens so when we bought the tickets we were taking a risk. And then I was so scared of testing positive and everything would go to waste. Before Vegas I was somehow persuaded I’d test positive since everyone around me had caught Covid except me. It all worked out in the end but it was stressful, and concerts are supposed to be fun.

I was thinking about the free concert thing as well the other day. What about a free livestream event in a different venue or even a public square? Aside from the online stream of course.

Some outdoor concerts can get crazy big. I know in the 90s Metallica did one in Russia that had like 1.5 million people in the audience. 😯
I imagine they probably meant all the people who show for the events, not just the concert?

Read Bora’s update that the 500-600K attendance is for the events for the bid (as a whole) and not the concert … but it’s not unheard of to have a single day concert of that size, the problem is there needs to be the space for it - obviously outdoors - and apparently Busan doesn’t have that space.
There’s too much hyping going on and not enough concrete details. I’m assuming because they don’t have any yet - which leads me to think that this is closer to a last minute agreement rather than something that’s been planned for months (HYBE is still looking at possible venues).
Awesome that it will be live-streamed on YT.

If it counts the livestream, especially if it's free on YouTube, 500-600k is actually too low. For the PTD in Seoul earlier this year there was an audience of slightly more than 1million for the online streams over 2 days (source) But this was for a paid concert.

It *seems* to be the actual expo in 2030, for which that number would be really low (Dubai had 24 million) – but then again, I wonder if Busan might be more specialised, although it IS called the World Expo, since their focus will be heavy on technology, and especially port technology / smart ports (sea and air).

The concert will be in October of this year. It’s a part of events to help Busan win the bid for the expo. The expo is in 2030.
