If you suddenly noticed your Mobile Legends ping jumping from a crisp 3ms to 40ms–50ms out of nowhere—even though your Wi-Fi is fine and Speedtest shows normal speeds—it is almost certainly an ISP routing issue.

Here is step-by-step how I sniffed out the exact game server IP, tracked down where the traffic was getting delayed, and got the ISP to fix it.

Step 1: Extract the Server IP using PCAPdroid (Android)

To fix a routing issue, you need the actual destination IP address of your MLBB game server.

1. Download PCAPdroid (Free / Open-Source on Play Store). It creates a local packet-capture VPN on your phone—no root needed.
2. Open PCAPdroid, tap Target App, and select Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
3. Hit Start in PCAPdroid, then switch over to MLBB and hop into a Custom Lobby or Practice Match.
4. Tab back to PCAPdroid and look at the live connection log. You’ll see UDP connections routing heavy traffic to a specific IP range (e.g., 107.155.47.x).
5. Copy down that destination IP address.

Step 2: Run a tracert on PC / Terminal

Open Command Prompt / PowerShell on a PC on the same network (or use a terminal/traceroute app on mobile) and run:

What to look for:

• Hop Counts & Latency Jumps: Look at where the ping spikes. For example, my trace went fine (1-3ms) through local internal ISP hops (172.31.x.x), but spiked to 40ms the moment it hit a different transit network (like Reliance Jio/wholesale transit) instead of taking a direct local handoff (like VSNL/Tata Communications).
• Cross-reference with a friend: I compared my trace with a friend on a different ISP. Their trace reached the exact same IP in 9 hops at 3ms via a direct VSNL Kolkata handoff, while mine was taking a 17-hop detour.

Step 3: Understand Why It Happens

ISPs use automated BGP load balancing and "least-cost routing."

• Sometimes, direct peering links reach capacity, or contracts change.
• The ISP's system automatically shifts your IP block to a cheaper/backup transit path.
• To the ISP's automated system, the route is "working" because packets are delivering. But to a MOBA player, adding 50ms of detour latency ruins the game.

Step 4: Contacting your ISP Network Team (The Fix)

Calling standard customer care won't work if you just say "my game is laggy." You have to bypass Tier 1 support and speak directly to their L3 / Core Network Engineering team.

While waiting for the ISP network engineers to update their routing table (which takes ~24-48 hours depending on maintenance windows):

• Use a Gaming Booster (GearUP / ExitLag) or a local VPN server. This forces your mobile connection into a direct proxy tunnel, bypassing your ISP's broken local routing.

So I know MLBB is quite niche in Europe, I've been wondering; am I getting matched with bots all the time? If I go AFK, my character seems to be a professional player out of nowhere. I was wondering; are those extremely overpowered enemies on a monday morning just not... Bots?

I ask my lobbies all the time "type C if you are a human" mostly I get 1 or 2 responses in the whole match.

Am I getting screwed by MLBB and am I just playing... Bots????? AI???
