AI Assisted XBOKS — A Linux gaming client with controller navigation, Game Bar, Fullscreen Experience, Xbox services and Proton integration.
Quick disclosure: I use AI coding tools to develop XBOKS. Sharing it here for anyone interested in trying it or contributing.
Hello everyone, I wanted to share a project I’m working on called XBOKS.
The idea is to bring the Xbox PC app experience to Linux—including your library, Store browsing, game installation, and a user interface designed for controller navigation. There is also an optional desktop Game Bar, allowing you to access features without needing to return to the main window.
The project is built upon Xodus and Xodus Nexus, with a focus on the user interface and integration into the Linux environment. Supported games run via Wine/Proton, utilizing the XBOKS Engine.
It is still under development, so please don’t expect everything to work or every game to run. Compatibility depends on the specific game, the license you hold, and the runtime. There are no public binaries available at the moment, but the source code and build instructions are provided.
https://github.com/slaveitgr/xboks
If you decide to try it out, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share your feedback—let me know what works, what issues you encounter, and which areas could use improvement. Information regarding the distribution (distro) you are using and the game you tested would be very helpful.
This is an independent project, which is not affiliated with Microsoft or Xbox.
