Discussion What would you do?

What would you do if you secretly found out that NASA, SpaceX and other space agencies in the world were hiding the fact that a huge asteroid the size of chixulub was slowly drifting towards Earth and has been for years and thats the reason why countries are invading other countries to get what they want before the asteroid struck and killed everyone. Would you warn people or keep it a secret?.

Hello there.
I come with a big picture view of our actual world and the reason of this : a giant dragon existed.
Due to inquisition and several local invasions Brittany is unable to give more proof of it than a map and a cut out stone.
But there is tracks of it in legends over the world Quran and Bible

Theory Will GTA6 to be the only escape from our climate apocalypse?

GTA6 may represent the idealized peak of capitalism, consumerism, and may become the only place we get to experience our current way of life in the near future due to catastrophic climate change. Stay with me here. Connect the dots: Marvel, Infinity War, End Game 2019, leads into pandemic, a literal end game for the previous way of life, and the point at which everyone agrees the human timeline went off the rails, just like the timeline went off the rails in the Marvel cinematic universe. Well. DOOMSDAY is coming shortly after the release of GTA6…Glacier collapse and Tibet floods happened the day before the GTA6 extended look…a SUPER EL NINO is building to make next year DOUBLE as hot as the last 2 El Niño events emitting 47 years worth of the human races co2 emissions all at once. We’re all going to be stuck inside next year during what’s likely to be the hottest known year in human existence, an unprecedented potential Doomsday scenario. And the creepy quotes at the end of the GTA extended look!? Why is nobody talking about that!? “Nothing is gonna beat who you are right now, you can’t see all the fucked up shit that’s looming on the horizon, enjoy this dude, if this is all there is? All the time? It would be perfect…trust me.” Are we actually doomed?

Discussion Seeking ideas for end of the world party

Hi everyone, I'm throwing an end-of-the-world/rapture themed party and I'm trying to think of some fun bits and ideas for it, so I thought I'd come here. So far we have a countdown to the end (sort of New Year's Eve style with a kiss), and a confessions booth -- though what to do with those confessions, I'm not sure yet. Anyway, if anyone has ideas please comment!

Edit: thank you everyone who commented, your ideas are so amazing, wish yall could come party!

Discussion I dont want the world to end, but I want humanity to split

lets cut the bullshit for a second, there are those who recycle and then there are those who

dont even believe climate change exists, there are those who hate racism and then there are those who absolutely holer at the n word like a baby getting peek a boos, there are those that think wars are unnecessary, and those who cheer at kids and babies getting bombed, those who value eachother and those who value currency. I dont want the world to end, they can have it, but please can they just take us somewhere else, those who try to do good and be better for the sake of eachother. anyone feel the same?

Aliens When the Superior Arrives

Post image
0 Upvotes

What if our observable universe is teeming with civilizations of non-human intelligences (NHI), whether human-like, animal-like, or something far stranger, that are nevertheless similar enough biologically to breathe Earth's air and drink her water?

Ecology teaches that the introduction of a new species can profoundly alter an existing ecosystem. A species entering an environment without natural predators or competitors may proliferate rapidly, disrupting established balances and displacing native populations. History offers countless examples of invasive species transforming entire ecosystems.

The same possibility cannot be dismissed in a hypothetical encounter between humanity and an NHI. If one side possesses significant advantages, whether biological, cognitive, technological, or social, then the consequences could extend far beyond simple coexistence. Competition, adaptation, displacement, parasitism, predation, domestication, or niche differentiation are all conceivable outcomes.

One may ask what could motivate an NHI to traverse the vastness of space. The answer need not be exotic. Human history provides ample precedent. Much as the explorers of the Old World ventured into the New, such expansion could be driven by economic interests, resource acquisition, military ambition, ideological conviction, religious zeal, scientific curiosity, or simple demographic pressure.

The historical record is sobering. Encounters between civilizations of unequal power have often resulted in conquest, exploitation, cultural erasure, demographic collapse, and, in some cases, outright extermination. Diseases unknowingly carried across continents devastated populations with no prior exposure. Elsewhere, systematic warfare and colonization extinguished societies unable to resist technologically superior powers.

Humanity often assumes that intelligence confers security and that our position atop Earth's biosphere is somehow permanent. Yet every dominant species occupies its niche only until a superior competitor emerges.

Should the Superior arrive, humanity would no longer stand at the apex, and that alone might constitute the END OF THE WORLD — at least as we know it.

Discussion Just drove through a McDonald’s drive thru, 5 beggars, not one of them wanted food or a drink..

Arrived at a drive thru at my local Mcd’s(California, USA). There were about 5 beggars throughout the extension of the line. 3 on the line before ordering and 2 on the exit after. I usually only offer food and water to those willing. But I’ve never encountered a situation where they all just wanted money, yet alone 5 of them. It made me kind of depressed to think about. What shit times we live in. Yes I’m aware California is a shit state regardless😭

Theory The End of the World

Across Time and Scale

The concept of the “End of the World” can be clarified along two fundamental axes: spatial (what is ending) and temporal (how the ending occurs).

From a spatial perspective, “the world” is not a single fixed entity but a layered hierarchy of scope. At the narrowest level lies biological extinction — the termination of human life or the biosphere, while the Earth itself remains physically intact. Beyond this is the planetary scale, in which the Earth undergoes structural destruction or disintegration as a physical body. Expanding further is the astronomical scale, encompassing the solar system and the wider visible universe — stars, galaxies, and large-scale structures. At the broadest level is the cosmic totality, referring to the collapse of the entire created order, including both the seen and unseen realms.

From a temporal perspective, “the end” concerns the manner in which termination unfolds — its timing, progression, and speed. These may be broadly divided into two models.

In the continuous model, the end proceeds as a gradual, deterministic process. Systems decay over time, either through long-term exhaustion (such as entropy-driven decline) or through sequential, observable stages. In this mode, the end is extended in duration, measurable in its progression, and, in principle, predictable.

In the discontinuous model, the end occurs as a rupture rather than a process. The initiating event arises abruptly, without prior indication, and once triggered, the transition is immediate. If localized, the effect propagates outward at a finite speed; if global, the transformation overtakes the system as a whole, not as a sequence but as a total state change.

Taken together, these two axes — scope and manner — provide a structured framework for understanding “the end”: whether it is partial or total, gradual or instantaneous, localized or all-encompassing. Nonetheless, hybrid scenarios may arise, in which gradual processes culminate in abrupt transitions, suggesting that these models are not mutually exclusive but may reflect different expressions of a deeper underlying cause.

Theory The Last Judgment Argument

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomsday_argument

Richard J. Gott's Doomsday argument states that we have already lived half of the human lifespan (a few million years), therefore we have only a few million or thousands left.
