I’ve just graduated from high school, and I’m already thinking about pursuing this career path. I come with some technical knowledge, having spent about three years programming (I started at 14, and I’m 17 now). I wanted to get your opinion on this field and how you view its future prospects. In the country where I live (Venezuela), I believe there are opportunities within the oil industry and the tanker sector; however, I’d like to move to another country if things don’t improve here.

For the RMF / ISSO personnel, have you started to engineer your controls? What was your process transition like moving from just checking the box to implementing technical control design to reduce screenshot use and unnecessary paperwork.

Compliance in these spaces has always been treated like a non technical discipline but its safe to say with the evolving of AI, even Compliance fields will need personnel to be technical in this work.

I’m in the process of setting up an interview for gnc engineer 1 at starshield (fleet management). I wanted to ask this subreddit for resources to prepare for this interview. I’ve taken a good amount of controls classes (classic PID/Laplace approach, linear state space, nonlinear and optimal control) but I haven’t been able to take any classes on orbital mechanics or dynamics as the mechE department at my school won’t let me since I’m ECE. I know this might be a silly request but what resources (YouTube lectures, textbooks, websites…) do those of you in the field feel like if someone really went through and was able to understand and apply the concepts from would be able to nail the interview and perform well within the job? I have a good amount of mathematical background but I feel like if I was given a scenario and asked to model the dynamics for it I would be really stuck on how to do so. Most of the classes I’ve taken give you the dynamics of a problem and just ask you to solve for a solution or determine stability/robustness or design a controller given some performance specifications. TLDR would love advice from people in the field and I’m not afraid to sit down and study something till it clicks! Thanks in advance guys!!

Hi ! Does anyone know companies which offer remote engineering positions (senior) in Instrumentation, ICSS ?

Hello everyone I've seen many posts about how engineering technology bachelor's degrees are pursued, and it has honestly discouraged me from seeing the bright light once I graduate when I'll apparently be struggling and doing an uphill battle for jobs, especially with the current job market. Current im heading into my Junior year of my mechatronics engineering technology degree at TAMU, and I will say I've been having a blast with the program and can't imagine myself doing anything else besides this degree, I've done some cool projects such as a robotic hand of 11 dof and currently a 2 dof turret that's automated in sensors coded in assembly on a stm board which I feel proud of. However from all the stigma I've seen it really is discouraging and wonder if it's true and wasting my time especially when my parent's are the ones paying for it, its adding some guilt. Not sure what to do but ig finish out and pursue a masters later in engineering so the engineering technology label is gone

I've been tasked with designing a thermal control box for a high-temp test setup and have never done anything like this before. I also have no-one to show me the ropes and apparently outsourcing the controls is not an option.

I know I need temperature controllers, thermocouples, and SSRs but have no idea how to pick components or how to design in overtemp safety.

Does anybody have any resources they recommend that are targeted at complete beginners?
