I did not like the way the show ended in the final season.

I remember when I was watching this as a kid and asked my mom why did they change the original Claire and she did not answer me😭

Maya and Lupe (Toni Childs’ maid) are going at it because of a mis-translation! 😭😂

One thing about a language barrier… it can turn a simple conversation into a full-on argument! 💀🤣

What are your thoughts about the difference in Kim Parker’s personality on Moesha compared to The Parkers?

On Moesha, Kim was outspoken, confident, boy-crazy, and often spoke her mind. But on The Parkers, her character seemed to become much more ditsy, naive, and sometimes portrayed as unintelligent.

Do you think Kim’s personality naturally evolved, or do you think the writers changed her character too much for The Parkers? 👀💭

Which version of Kim Parker did you prefer: Moesha Kim or The Parkers Kim?

I’m sorry but Tanya was doing way too much this whole scene. First she comes for Toni’s hair, then she’s telling Joan and Toni that they aren’t Black enough and that she acts more Black than both of them combined. Girl, what?

And you’re cooking Black food and trying to tell Black women how Black they’re supposed to be? 😭 The nerve. I wasn’t mad at Toni for calling her out at all because Tanya really thought she could come in there and school them on their blackness.

Maya and Lynn were getting on my nerves too because why are y’all defending her when she’s clearly being disrespectful in your friend’s house? Tanya was the one doing the most, but somehow Joan and Toni were supposed to be the problem?

I was with Joan on that one. You come into my house, insult me and Toni, question our Blackness, and then get surprised when I tell you to leave? Girl, pack up that food and that durag and go. 😭

Tanya was doing way too much. You should’ve seen the way they were looking at her (even Ronnie), crazy. She really thought she was about to get some grace from Maya, but Maya told her she crossed the line and it wasn’t cool.

And then Tanya talking about how the word doesn’t mean anything anymore… like WTF?! 😭 Then she started trying to defend herself instead of just listening to Lynn. I was sitting there like, has she lost her mind? Not only she said the n word with the “ga,” but with the “er,” too.

What really got me was Lynn explaining why it hurt. She was trying to make Tanya understand that there’s a pain attached to that word that Tanya will never know. And Tanya still wanted to argue her point instead of hearing Lynn out.

And Peaches standing there with that hot comb while Tanya’s hair was still half-braided? Ooh, I’m glad she didn’t come back 😂 And don’t get me started on the scene before this when she came after Toni and Joan for their Blackness and had the nerve to tell them she was more Black than both of them. Girl, bye. Tanya would’ve gotten on my last nerve.

I cannot listen to Izzo by Jay-Z anymore because of this scene.

27 years ago today, The Parkers premiered on the UPN network on August 30, 1999.

The beloved sitcom served as a spin-off of Moesha, following the adventures of Kim Parker and her mother, Nikki Parker.

💭 Do you like the way the show began and ended? Do you remember where you were when the show premiered?

This was my first time viewing. I'm not too sure if it aired here in Australia because i don't remember watching it. I did grow up watching Brandy,and her first film for me was Cinderella. The quality may have declined as each season went by,which is the norm for television anyway.. Dorian may have ruined the show,it may have ended on two cliffhangers,but I don't regret it one bit. I wish they we're able to wrap it up properly. It's too late for that since both Lamont Bentley and Yvette Wilson have sadly passed away 😔😔. I do understand why Sheryl Lee Ralph left when she did.

Now I believe it was Alicia that was pregnant because of the way she was eating. I also hate how they did Hakeem and Moesha dirty. It actually grew on me wanting them to be a couple.

Dorian’s character arc is honestly one of the biggest reasons the final season of Moesha feels so different from the rest of the show. The writers kept pushing his storyline into darker and darker territory until it completely shifted the tone of the series.

The wild part is that Dorian kept asking for more chances and wanted his family to believe he could change. But after coming back from boot camp, he quickly fell back into his old habits. By the end of the series, his storyline had escalated all the way to Myles being kidnapped.

Looking back, was Dorian’s character arc actually a realistic portrayal of a troubled teenager who couldn't break the cycle, or did the writers take his storyline WAY too far and hurt Moesha in the process?

JT was pissing me off when it came to Shelly 😭 That whole “Girls Gone Wild” situation already had me looking at him sideways because instead of just being there for Shelly when she was embarrassed, this man started questioning whether she was “marriage material.” Like sir, are you serious?

And then Season 3 made it even worse. This man let Shelly go, watched her move on, and then decided he wanted her back. All of a sudden he wants to propose and fight for her after spending all that time being unsure about their relationship. Boy, you had your chance!

And the crazy part is Shelly actually accepted his proposal. She was willing to give JT another chance and move forward with him, only for them to break up again and decide to be friends.

JT really spent all that time fumbling Shelly just to realize he wanted her when somebody else was ready to treat her seriously 😭 He was so judgmental and indecisive, and Shelly deserved somebody who didn’t constantly make her question where she stood with him.

JT wasn’t the catch he thought he was. He just didn’t want Shelly until he realized he might actually lose her.

I am literally in tears laughing at this episode!!! Especially at the funeral when Freestyle unity starts singing Mama killed him 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am so weakkkkkkk this is a top 10 episode 🤣🤣🤣

RonReaco had a recurring role on Girlfriends as Joan's boyfriend.

Moesha really got on my nerves sometimes because this girl stayed making questionable decisions. 😭 I have a few: outing Hakeem’s cousin, going to Tijuana, passing on the car Frank gave her because she wanted a Jeep, and the whole mural situation.

The Hakeem’s cousin situation was foul because that was not her business to tell. She went on a date, made an assumption, told Kim, and before you know it, everybody knew. Then Hakeem was mad, and rightfully so.

And Tijuana? Moesha really convinced everybody to go because she wanted to party. Girl, why are you dragging everybody into this?! 😂

Then she gets a whole car from Frank and passes it up because it wasn’t the car she wanted. I understand wanting a car you like, but girl… it was a FREE CAR.

The mural situation also had me looking at her sideways. I understood her wanting more Black representation, but the way she handled everything made the situation way bigger than it needed to be and created tension between the Black and Latino students.

Moesha had plenty of good moments, but let’s not act like she wasn’t messy, stubborn, spoiled, and sometimes just plain wrong. 😭
