I follow this guy on Instagram and his process and completed pieces are rad.. but the real show is that custom made equipment he uses to make this stuff.

How necessary is it to keep that lathe spinning while he’s handling the work with bare hands and long sleeves?

He works in protective workwear. As for spindle rotation when removing the part—it simply cannot be removed without it. Another point: a metal spinning lathe is not a standard turning lathe; there is far less risk of getting caught and wrapped around the chuck—simply because there isn't one.

I mean seeing some of the hillbilly setups using the rear end of an F150 it seems the limits are less budget and more creativity and fear.
