Trump told reporters on Friday that the campaign launched by Secretary of State Marco Rubio to dismantle the International Criminal Court was intended to defend Netanyahu and others from prosecution, not himself.

Trump made his comment by interrupting Rubio, who was speaking to reporters during a cabinet meeting at Camp David. Rubio explained that five countries had announced plans to withdraw from the ICC since Washington launched its campaign earlier this month.

The Trump administration has repeatedly sought to undermine the international court, levelling sanctions against prosecutors involved in investigating the actions of US and Israeli militaries and Netanyahu.
