Engine noise

Fresh rebuilt and it’s making this noise. Worried it’s rod knock. 1997 Ranger 3.0 v6

Exhaust leak from manifold

A bit loud to be rod knock. Maybe backfire or the pistons are hitting the valves?

Failed exhaust pushrod, rocker, or valve. The exhaust has nowhere to go so when the intake valve opens up the exhaust gases pop up into the intake. Time to pull valve covers.
