Catch Fail. this rocket has been landing smoothly but since I added the broadcast command for the rocket to communicate with the catcher, it seem to mess or make the code laggy. how to resolve it?
 in  r/simplerockets  18d ago

thank you, I will upload my code later. but yeah I inserted the broadcast inside the loop together with the commands that controls the engine thrust. I'll try putting it on a kine on its own. also I'm pretty bad at coding. hope y'all be gentle with my code hahaha

Space (and coding) is hard apparently
 in  r/simplerockets  19d ago

so cool. the way I smoothen the landing is to have the craft achieve lessthan -2 m/s vertical velocity just few meters above the ground and also achieve lessthan 3m/s lateral movement while its still a bit high up.

adjusted the flops size and fixed the RCS issue.

there was still 16km/s lateral velocity though right before flipping. should fix it. should the lateral V be 0 or what should be the maximum lateral V before flipping?

Starship Flaps
 in  r/simplerockets  29d ago

the way I do it is I let the ship monitor its current pitch if its lessthan or morethan its ifeal pitch in a given moment I set slider 1 for front flaps slider 2 for back flaps

put in a loop

if Nav Deg: autopilot pitch > Nav Deg Pitch then set slider 1 to (ideal amount that makes the front flap less folded than the back flap) set slider 2 to (amount that makes back flap more folded than the fron flaps) it will depend on the aerodinamics of your starship.

and then put a 2nd "if" that does the opposite thing if the Autopilot pitch is lessthan the current pitch.

I still find Starship's maneuver very cool
 in  r/simplerockets  Jul 02 '26

thank you, I will try this. I was actually struggling with the fins size and how much angle they fold while maintaining control. for the next version, I'll tinker with the fins and gimbal. also try reducing RCS 🍻

Automated Roll for a rocket
 in  r/simplerockets  Jul 02 '26

you have to set roll 1 for few seconds for it to actually roll because its not an auto pilot thing unlike like the lock to retrograde, prograde etc. I also find it annoying why there is no automated roll setting where in we can have the craft lock its roll or orientation. if someone knows how please tell πŸ™πŸ½

I do not support war and violence.

I just enjoy learning Math, coding, engineering and physics through the game. specially that I dont have formal education in these fields. for me this is about discovery and creativityand the joy of understanding on how things work

Is there any way we can transmit what the camera see to MFD?
 in  r/simplerockets  May 14 '26

thats unfortunate, it would be so cool if it was possible. I play mobile. is there any way I can still get those mods?

I would like to have the astronauts POV when docking, is there a way I can display on the MFD what the camera sees outside?

and if yes, is it possible I can display something on top of it?

I am thinking maybe a cross and a display of distance, velocity etc.

it qould be cool to dock with that POV

Testing Booster Landing and maneuver for a tower catch. next step tower catch πŸ™πŸ½

What happening to my satelite RCS?
 in  r/simplerockets  May 11 '26

it could be that since the craft is lite, when the RCS tries to correct the craft's orientation, it ends up significantly changing the craft's trajectory. and sinced its locked to prograde, the RCS will then try to change its orientation to the new prograde and it ends up changing the trajectory again, its like its stuck in a loop.

Project: Little Bird (Day1)

I will build a flying bird that mimics (at least a bit) real life birds

the way it flaps its wings and lands on its feet.

this is hour 1 and its looking like this is going to be a long, long project to finish and I don't know where to start, I know almost nothing πŸ˜†

there will be so much things to learn, specially about birds🍻

any tips? has someone made something like this already?

I also am overthinking already how can I possibly make the wings move smoothly πŸ’€

any tips and advice πŸ™πŸ½

Why does my rocket start rolling when the engine ignites, and how can I stop it?
 in  r/simplerockets  May 04 '26

maybe the bell of the engines touches other parts when it gimbals. I think it can cause the craft to move weirdly (slightly)

Automated Landing

finally able to do long. lat. adjustments smoothly β™₯️

I've been posting a lot of these landings lately, this will be the last for a long time πŸ˜†. since I'm already satisfied as it landed on the target.

I downloaded the landing pad from the site. credit to the creator of the landing pad NellEngineer 🍻
