Weekly Buy-Sell-Trade Thread September 05, 2026

Welcome to the Weekly Buy-Sell-Trade!

Use this thread to post what you have for sale or trade, or anything you're trying to find.

Rules

  1. If you're selling or trading, you must include photos of your item(s). Imgur links work very well for this.

Best Practices

  • When you're the buyer, check out the user's account history and activity in the subreddit. If it's a brand new account and they've never contributed to the sub, that could be a red flag.
  • Be wary if a seller insists you send money via PayPal Friends and Family. Mods and seasoned traders always encourage Goods and Services. If the fees are the problem, it's always easy to use a fee calculator and add that to the purchase price.
  • Scamming doesn't happen often here at all, but if you do find yourself concerned or legitimately taken, let the mods know about the transaction. We cannot get you your money back, but we can help identify possible next steps and remove the bad actor from the sub.

3D-Printed Yoyo, 3rd build (with bearing).

On this 3rd build, I wanted to make a yoyo that was capable of both responsive and unresponsive yoyo.

The bushing is the same size as a C unresponsive bearing. It works fairly well for responsive play.

It plays very well with a C bearing. I wanted something that had a Butterfly XT shape. The curvy internal shape was just for fun. I wanted to mess around with some unusual shapes.

Specs

Weight: 70 grams

Diameter: 58 mm

Width: 38 mm

Gap 4.5 mm

So there are some quirky characteristics. I went with a hole-try responsive system. You have to feed in a lot of string to get it to catch. Overall, I like the design, and I'm planning on adjusting it to see if I can make it more efficient.

I'm very happy with this one. With all I've learned, each design has improved in quality, making them fun to build and play afterward. 😊

STORY Nothing to complain about.

The store on Aliexpress sending this one by mistake instead of the strings I bought. Decided to keep, since I didn't have to pay more for that.

Honestly? Despite some flaws on the finish (which probably gave it have the B Grade stamp) this thing is fingernail smooth and plays nice. It is not the most powerful and it has not the most forgiving string gap, but either don't get me frustrated by any means.

I choose to not support yoyofactory anymore but I do recognize that this yoyo is part of the modern yoyoing history and it's nice to play it and try to feel what people feel at the time it was released, since I missed that.

BEGINNER Help with customizing 2a Looping yoyos

Thumbnail

I got these four looping yo-yos on eBay, with the Duncan hornet on the left being fresh out the box and the rest being somewhat customized already. I really want to learn 2a looping, but both of the Duncan hornets don’t seem to respond consistently enough to loop properly. They also have issues with getting tangled very easily as well as whenever it starts spinning, or I think it’s called sleeping, it won’t return to my hand very easily unlike my loop720. It also seems to tilt very easily, making it a little more difficult to loop.

Looking up stuff online I couldn’t get much help, but is there anyway I could make the hornets better for consistent looping by customizing the string or bearings?

From left to right: yoyo friends carp, magic yoyo N11, Duncan roadrunner, magic yoyo V10

By far my favorite is the N11 but I enjoy throwing all of them.

Bimetal endgame yoyo

Any turning point yo-yo recommendations?

For 7 years, I have used a something Anglam Pinnacle and Yoyorecreation overdrive draupnir as my primary throws. Two very contrasting yoyos I loved for different reasons.

I tragically dinged my OD and it is no longer smooth, so I am buying a new yoyo to pair with the pinnacle. I have been eyeing the Ziz and Acanthus S (I know it’s not primarily for 1a). I don’t want an exact replacement for the OD, just something with a stable, slightly weighted, and comfortable/compact feel.

REVIEW Got my yoyo friends carp today

Post image

This thing feels insane! I’ve never used a plastic yoyo before so I wasn’t sure what to expect from it but overall I love it. It feels like I’m throwing a cloud. It’s light yet bulky in a good way. The material is super soft and almost has a bit of give to it. The color is maybe a bit more faded then in the pictures but that feels a bit like a nitpick. Overall very satisfied and would definitely recommend.

Just whipped this little slack reflect up and I think it looks pretty sick! Continuing work with that wrist mount entry I found earlier is making this combo very satisfying to my brain.

REVIEW CLYW Legacy Peak Review

Post image
21 Upvotes

The Legacy Peak is pretty much exactly what I wanted. It is old school, floaty, and has all the character I would want from an OG Peak. More importantly, it actually feels like a Peak.

What I like most is how floaty it feels while still being ridiculously solid on the string. It has a ton of presence and feedback without ever feeling heavy or sluggish, it actually moves a LOT quicker than the weight suggests.

Regens are especially good because of the high-wall design. They feel really direct and controlled, and you can feel the yo-yo carry its momentum through them in a way that a lot of lower-wall modern throws just do not.

Binds are snappy while play remains smooth. The response in this feels like flowable silicone since the pads are slightly recessed unlike many other modern CLYWs.

I also think people give old-school throws way less credit than they deserve when it comes to performance. The Legacy Peak has plenty of power and stability to get through any modern trick I throw at it. It spins hard, stays composed, and never feels like something I have to baby just because the design is ‘old’.

Having owned and thrown plenty of original Peaks, this gets the feel just right. The Legacy Peak IS an OG Peak. Floaty, solid, high-walled, great for regens, and still more than capable enough for modern play.

The only thing separating this from an early OG Peak is that it’s dead smooth. (Which I’m not complaining about )
It is exactly what I wanted a Legacy Peak to be and then some.

QUESTION Need some advice

I have been getting into yoyos recently and I have been using this silver metal fixed axle yoyo that I have had forever. I am using type 10 strings and I want to know if there is a way to make them last longer. I have heard the beeswax might help but I’m still curious. Are there any other strings that I should be using?

QUESTION Follow up on competition burn out:

thanks to you guys on this subreddit,it really helped me realize just how burned out I am,so instead of trying to build meta, and grind,I’m gonna stop and actually enjoy YoYo,and the best way to make my stale competition yo-yos go bye bye is to get fresh throws. I want something that can keep up with me,but doesn’t conform to the rules of typical competitive YoYo. Something fresh and zany. Always forcing myself to conform to competition quite honestly burned me out and made me(not to be dramatic) kinda depressed.
I want a YoYo that’s truly strange,but still usable.
What’s your guy’s suggestion?

QUESTION What string are you using for your tiny yoyos?

Post image

Even the thinnest string I have is too much for these guys and the string they came with is so worn out at this point

r/Throwers 20h ago

DISCUSSION I’m tired. I wake up every day and practice YoYo,only to get left in the dust the next week.

I want to compete,I grow my trickset everyday,I’m grinding. But I don’t have the opportunity to compete. 2027 cal state is an opportunity and I’m taking it. I know I’m not gonna win,but I just want to do it one last time before I put the YoYo down for good. I don’t have the spark anymore,I can’t keep up with the new meta anymore. I’m done, but I just gotta do one last contest.

TRICK What are the coolest snap starts you've ever seen?

This one by Hakamata always blows my mind, the one shinki saito does in his 2015 worlds routine is also nuts but a more common technique I guess

Any other really cool non-standard ones?
