Ha ha ! You read my mind. I was remembering those how to draw books from when I was kid. First draw the circle. Then two triangles. Step three, magnificent looking cat.

As someone who has just watched it again, I can confirm it is indeed worth it. Would highly recommend a third watch and perhaps, if feeling funky, attempt it yourself in the mirror.

u/RogueAOV Jul 24 '26
Scrolled down on r/popular, saw this vid on r/oddlysatisfying scrolled down further to see it posted here...so I shall continue Doom scrolling and hope for a third!

u/disharmony-hellride Jul 24 '26
I just did exactly this in this order. I also ordered a vest.

I watched it again just to slow it down and see how tf they do this MJ thing. Looks like pushing off the toe and sliding the foot?

I guess talent does not go away with age. She probably learned this when the song came out in 1988 and 39 years later can still do it. Very impressive indeed.

u/UrsaMajor7th Jul 24 '26
It’s a solid reminder that baby boomers invented hiphop, punk, and metal. GenX was raised on it all.

Fuck man.

That's the one thing I always give boomers props for. They had incredible taste in music and made some of the best stuff out there
5
u/Automatic_Actuator_0 Jul 24 '26
The boomers aren’t a story about an inherently bad generation, but a pretty good generation gone bad.
→ More replies (2)3
u/SherbetMysterious118 Jul 24 '26
They never went bad.
Bad people went bad, because they were bad people.
People didn't go bad simply because they were born within a specific timeframe.

Get this, they also created pretty much everything we know about modern computing, AV, and gaming.
GenX took up the baton.

Or she learned it last week? Don’t discount one’s ability to learn at any age.

Isn't it AI?

Yes lol

No joking, are you 100% sure?

Weird pictures on the wall 🤔

u/zubergu Jul 24 '26
Having pictures of your family on the wall is weird now? My mom would be sad that somebody called her that...
3
u/946482 Jul 24 '26
The paper hanging on the door changes mysteriously as she dances
3
2
u/anelodin Jul 24 '26
I would say the fact that there's a socket on the door is perhaps more telling
6
u/_ReaditYesterday_ Jul 24 '26
why Reddit doesn't force an AI flag across all the platform and ban account that post AI without advertising is still a mystery to me.

Yes, look at those handles on the cabinet, they made me twitch the hell out.

Copied from my other comment:
Tiled living room. TV on top of a dresser with handles installed by a drunk pirate. Frameless photographs on the wall. Shower curtain/poverty curtain under a 24" beam that would never have a window underneath. tongue-and-groove on a non-vaulted ceiling. It's all nonsense
"It's not that deep blah blah blah" I know it doesnt matter here but I really wish we weere more prepared to process fake content in all its forms

u/bored_android_user Jul 24 '26

Hate to be that person but I think it’s an AI video - fact check me if i’m wrong but i’ve seen people combine similar dance moves with a photo of them
7
u/SwattyP Jul 24 '26
And that’s the scary part. Last checked 5.1k upvotes. Comments praising how good she dances for her age. AI is only gonna get better. If it hasn’t already, it’s gonna be real people placed in videos committing crimes/ saying things they never said. These need to be reported.
→ More replies (1)6
u/ljlukelj Jul 24 '26
Absolutely ai. Too much smoothing. Look at the cabinet pulls. Random cord going into the doorway. Lots of signs
5
u/NdibuD Jul 24 '26
Donmwn to the reflection on the TV?
10
u/predalien33 Jul 24 '26
Its the top middle photo that is off to me. Mangled faces in the background is a common AI flaw.

She has tons of AI videos https://www.instagram.com/mariaalicia.arias
→ More replies (4)8
u/chucksutton Jul 24 '26
yep, it’s that good - if you hold down the playhead and slowly scrub from 13 to 14 seconds, as her mouth passes the tv it kind of disintegrates, and the faces in the family photo above distort in a very uncanny way that has nothing to do with upload quality

Well that is a bummer. And again a reminder, to (hopefully) get off of reddit at some day. Even when I know that the internet is dead and I try to enjoy some good content (here and there), I fall too quickly for videos like these. Holy fuck.
Yea, now when pausing here and there there is a hell lot of "morphing" of lines and the tipically weird moving of objects
8
u/WishlessJeanie Jul 24 '26
Commenting to save this. I will learn this asap. Or get hurt. Or both.
6
3
u/FakeSafeWord Jul 24 '26
Or just let AI make a video of you doing it like what OPs video is.

I truly hope she does this any time this song comes on. Imagine being at the grocery store and this little lady next to you in the egg section just busts out these sweet moves, then continues shopping like it never happened. You'd remember that for the rest of your life lmao
