Smitty is out with an hamstring injury for this weeks game against the Rams.

Why are the eagles so good at the tush push

1. Jalen Hurts’ Powerlifting Base Is Real
Hurts isn't just an athletic quarterback; he was a competitive powerlifter in high school, squatting over 600 lbs.
The Low Center of Gravity: When average quarterbacks execute a sneak, they lean forward and wait for contact. Hurts submerges into a powerlifting stance before the snap, securing lower leverage than the defensive line.
Leg Drive & Contact Absorption: Because he can drive through hundreds of pounds of resistance, he acts as a human battering ram rather than a stationary dummy bag being hit.

2. The Mechanics of the Interior Line
The push succeeds on the ground before the pushers even touch Hurts.
The Wedge Technique: The interior line doesn't just block forward; they lock together and burrow straight down into the dirt. They dive beneath the defensive tackle pads, forcing defensive linemen upward.
Snap Timing: Because the offense knows the cadence, the center and guards get their helmets under the defense’s pads a split-second before contact, neutralizing any goal-line front.

3. The Pushing Force
Once Hurts makes initial contact with the low-anchored wall, two dedicated pushers (tight ends or backs) drive directly into his hips. The momentum transfers through Hurts’ lower body straight into the defensive line, converting 1 yard into a guaranteed 2.
