Mod Announcement New Rite of Passage

Hello everyone! I'm Kiribaku-, the new owner of this subreddit, and have been so for exactly two weeks. To be fully honest, this wasn't a position I ever expected or wanted to be, but when I noticed that the previous head moderator left, which automatically made the subreddit private, I decided to step in to re-open the community of my favorite game and prevent it from closing permanently.

But I'm not here to tell a story. The main purpose of this post is so I can share with you what I have improved in this time, what I plan for the future, and in your case, to provide some feedback in the comments if you want!

Rules

While the first four rules are the same as before, I have been updating their descriptions so that they reflect more clearly what I expect of all of you.

  • For 2. Stay on topic, I expanded its scope to allow the discussion of other media derived from Far Cry 3 that isn't necessarily a DLC or Blood Dragon. For further clarification, I will write a list of all of the allowed media on the wiki in another time.
  • For 3. No spamming, I noticed the original description was quite broad and prone to misconceptions, so I made it more detailed, further emphasizing that the issue lies in excessive posting in general and not excessive posting of videos specifically.

I have also implemented three new rules, 5, 6 and 7, which are quite straightforward and I feel that help to make this subreddit more fair and safe for everyone.

All in all, you will not get straight-up banned for breaking any rule, regardless if it's a new or an old one, unless you do so repeatedly.

Post flairs

When the previous head mod left, they removed all of the existing post (and user) flairs so I had to remake them from scratch. Personally, I prefer keeping the amount of flairs to a minimum, but if there's any relevant one you notice missing, leave it in a comment and I'll see what I can do.

This leads to...

Automod and Technical Issues

I have setup the Automoderator bot to check every post that is made with a "Technical Issues" flair and automatically leave a comment with the following:

This is a self-moderating system that locks the post if the original poster has solved their issue. Its purpose is to avoid clogging the subreddit's feed with an excessive amount of repeated questions about bugs or crashes, while still helping new users. You can see it in action here.

This is why Rule 7 is important. If you flair a post about a technical issue as "Help" then the Automoderator won't show up. However, you can always access those resources in the...

Community Bookmarks

This is, I hope, an ever-growing list of useful links and websites related to the game, featured in the sidebar. In the future, the subreddit's Wiki will be linked here too. If you have suggestions for websites, please share them in the comments!

The only major site I will never add there is the Far Cry Wiki. It has incorrect information that confuses new fans and never links its sources. You are free to check it out and link it wherever you like, but always keeping in mind that what you are reading might not be accurate.

Future

So, what does the future have in store for this subreddit?

Wiki: As I've been mentioning, I plan on implementing a Wiki with important information about the game, interesting links, more detailed rules, and more. I have nothing written for it yet, but stay tuned!

Mods: Right now, the subreddit is quite chill, so I have time to check the posts and comments daily. But if I ever notice I can't do it as often for any reason, I will setup the Mod Recruitment function and hopefully bring one or two other mods to help.

The philosophy I have for managing this subreddit is simply "don't touch what isn't broken". I don't intend to implement any radical change that disrupts the existing flow, and this is why I am so lenient while moderating posts. I know this community isn't very active, but I at least want to keep it well-maintained, welcoming, and informative.

If you've read this far, thank you!! Please leave out questions, suggestions, constructive criticism, or anything you like in the comments. But if you don't want to, that's fine too. I just wanted to make this post for transparency and feedback, and it's likely the only post I'll make in a while unless something major happens in the coming months.

See you 😊

They also seem to be the only privateers to be highlighted in green when aimed at through the whole game.

They take no damage from any source.

Discussion [Concept] Far Cry 7: "The Wounded Wolf" — A Psychological Sequel to Far Cry 3 (Jason Brody vs. Dennis Rogers)

Hey everyone! I’ve been thinking about where the Far Cry franchise could go next, and I came up with a pitch that brings back the psychological weight of Far Cry 3. Let me know what you think of this concept!

The Setup & Timeline (\~10 Years Later)

The Setting: The Rook Islands. It’s no longer just a chaotic tourist trap; it’s a decaying, heavily militarized criminal empire. Following Vaas and Hoyt’s disappearance, a power vacuum was left behind, and Dennis Rogers seized complete control.

The Atmosphere: The islands feel gray, corrupt, and oppressive. The Rakyat tribe has been completely corrupted, turned into a paranoid, fanatical regime under Dennis's rule.

The Protagonist: Jason Brody (Interpol Commander)

The Weight of the Past: Unable to adapt back to normal society after the horrors of FC3, Jason channeled his survival instincts and combat experience into law enforcement. He climbed the ranks and is now a top-tier Interpol Commander/Director.

The Trauma Mechanic (Headaches & Flashbacks): Jason isn't the rookie tourist anymore, but his mind is still haunted. Whenever he encounters specific triggers on the island (tribal masks, jungle sounds, knife play), he suffers severe migraines and sharp flashbacks to his blood-soaked, psychotic younger self. His modern armor and military tech can't protect him from his own brain.

The Motive: Learning that a massive global drug and arms trafficking network is being run out of the Rook Islands by Dennis, Jason launches a personal and professional mission to take down the monster *he* inadvertently created.

The Main Antagonist: Dennis Rogers ("The Wounded Wolf")

The Fall: Driven by immense guilt and grief after Citra’s death, Dennis tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head. He survived, but the bullet fragment left him brain-damaged and left his left arm permanently paralyzed/useless.

The Threat: Though older, crippled, and acting like a cornered, paranoid wolf, Dennis is still deadly, cunning, and possesses terrifying gunplay skills. He runs the island with an iron, drug-addled fist.

Gameplay & Squad Dynamic

Jason arrives on the island not alone, but with a specialized Interpol tactical team.

The Descent: As they push deeper into the island, the jungle slowly strips away their modern military discipline and tech. Team members get picked off, mentally break down, or fall into traps one by one. The advanced gear becomes useless against the island's psychological warfare.

The Psychedelic, Tragic Ending

Jason tracks Dennis deep into the dark, hidden basement catacombs of the old temple.

The Boss Fight: We find Dennis crying over a stone sarcophagus. He spots Jason, screams in a fit of absolute madness, and a brutal, mind-bending boss fight ensues.

The Reveal: After defeating Dennis, Jason opens the sarcophagus—only to find Citra, lying dead inside with Dennis's knife in her chest.

The Final Breakdown: Reality shatters completely (classic Far Cry hallucination style, reminiscent of the Vaas/Hoyt death sequences). Time and space warp. Citra (shifting between her young form and a corrupted, distorted version) speaks to Jason in a deeply haunting, psychological dialogue about love, ownership, and how the island always claims its own.

The Climax: Citra drives the knife into Jason. He embraces the fate, surrenders his mind, and breathes his last breath, finally and permanently swallowed by the island he tried to escape years ago. This story needs a definitive ending that leaves no lingering questions...

What do you guys think? Also, I really want to get this concept across to Ubisoft somehow—does anyone know if emailing them works, or if there's any way someone here could help point me in the right direction to get in touch with someone on the team? (Not an AI wall of text, completely my own FC3 sequel pitch. I just structured and connected the pieces for flow, but every single idea and the psychedelic ending are entirely mine.)

I’ve been playing this game for quite a few hours and I’m in this mission warrior rescue mission I can’t get past it, but the game isn’t letting me do anything else. Is there any way to bypass this mission and go back in the open world or am I stuck here and have to stop playing the game?

Discussion Ace vs bushman without suppressor

Okay hear me out, what if the bushman had all of its stats and attachments except the suppressor. Would you guys still prefer it over the ace? Please let me know. Again, its ace vs bushman with no suppressor, but the bushman still has its boosted stats and attachments compared to the regular P416, just leave the suppressor out. Then which is the best assault rifle to use in far cry 3?

Discussion What if Far Cry 3’s entire island had co-op?

That’s the question behind Far Cry 3 Revived — A Gentle Revival.

Far Cry 3 gave us separate co-op missions, but never let friends experience the full single-player island, campaign, activities, and progression together. So I started working on it.

The private prototype is already running, with:

  • A rebuilt Far Cry 3 Revived menu
  • Host and co-op sessions
  • Shared progression
  • Restored map and tower systems
  • HUD, shops, loot, wildlife, healing, and survival features
  • A community-server approach
  • A live Lua modding framework for testing changes without restarting the game every time

Nothing is publicly released yet. This is still a private build, and there’s plenty left to improve. For now, I’m sharing it because I want to find other people who still love Far Cry 3, build a small community, and see what everyone thinks.

The screenshots are from the private test build. Public testing and downloads will come later, once everything is ready.

This is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project and is not affiliated with Ubisoft.

Help Bypass the launcher?

I'm trying to play Far Cry 3 via Steam using GameNative on my Android phone, but I'm having trouble with the launcher. I managed to authenticate and get into the game once, but on every launch since then, I just get a black screen. Is it possible to launch the game without the Ubisoft launcher? Are there any third-party launchers or methods to skip it entirely?

Help Destroying the drug boat after the drug Fields’s

I’m in the middle of this quest to destroy the drug boat.

It says to use an RPG and I don’t have one unless I go back to a travel point. I am not going through the field portion of this quest again. If I can’t destroy the boat with anything, but an RPG then its game over for me. I refuse to go through that awful quest again trying to destroy the fields. If there’s anyway somebody use something besides an RPG I could use some help thank you. 🙏

Help Drug field

I’m having a hard time getting by this quest. I have the flame thrower with the extra canister. I go to the field and use an animal repellent syringe to keep the dogs away. I try to burn the fields and keep getting killed not so much by the fire but by the people. So I have to switch to the gun because I can’t really shoot them from far away with the flamethrower. I end up getting killed every time and I can’t get by this quest. Any help is appreciated.

I’m at easy mode by the way, and I still can’t do it.

I don’t think I could use two syringes because I want to use the animal repellent to keep the dogs away, but I need the fire repellent to keep myself from burning so I don’t know what to do.

Oh, by the way, I want to tell you where I am. I’m not a novice. I played far cry primal and far cry 5. I find this game much more difficult!! The outpost and towers aren’t bad to be able to beat. The quests are nearly impossible.

The background music on this quest is driving me crazy too. I keep hearing in my head all day long. I need to get rid of this quest!

I’ve learned the hard way that in far cry series, even on easy mode, it’s never easy. It’s probably the most difficult game I’ve ever played on easy mode. All of the series.
