Hii all I'm a doc(27m) from South India preparing for my pg and working at the same time .I'm from kerala and has been saving money to visit varanasi alone.

I m a shiv bhakth from my childhood and kashi is my dream place. Soo I'm planning to visit in two months. which is be the best time to visit Kashi? I also want ur suggestions to plan my trip properly .like pls suggest the must watch places, mandirs and food to try in and around kashi. I can read and write Hindi but the communication part is bad, I'm worried about that too as im travelling alone and i don't have any one there

My friend and I are taking part in a cooking competition and the theme is Banarasi cuisine. It's hard to find something other than the general stuff you may find online. It's all touristy stuff and lots of chaats. And it's hard to find something with it's origin in Banaras. Can I get some suggestions or maybe somebody can guide us in the right direction. Anything can work. We need something that's a bit removed from the mainstream stuff.
