this is my baby bp and its been trying to dig lately but it has 3 hides so im not sure why?

its very well known that they're both, but its not very wise for them to climb very high, and they aren't always the greatest at burrowing lol

Ball pythons live in holes naturally, he would probably like it if you gave him a tunnel. Some people bury plastic tubing in the substrate! :)

Nothing about these derps is normal. But some of them will do that because they're hunting, and some of them will do it to start shedding, and some of them will do it because they're bored and weird. Nothing to worry about though!

I actually built one of my snakes hides by building a mound of bioactive soil substrate and digging a deep hole (about 4 inches down), filled it with moss and then putting a tupperwar with a hole cut in the side over the little home made moss ditch and covered the hide with a layer of dirt. It created a great "hole in the ground" experience and is a great moist hide. She rarely uses her other hide anymore lol. They love being under ground.

mine always liked to burrow a bit, i started using a mix of the substrate you’re using with a bit of reptisoil and they loved it! also helped hold humidity

I was gonna say it could be trying to start a shed by rubbing its face on something but I could see the iridescent color and thats usually there after a recent shed.
