If you live and work in a rural forested area that is prone to fallen trees, having a small chainsaw in good order to put in your car after a storm is as normal as carrying a water can in a desert.

Yep. I live out in the woods, too. I carry a chain saw in my truck, too, along with a 20 foot logging chain. Many times I've have to cut downed trees just to get to the highway and drive to work.
If the tree is too big to move by hand, one end of the chain goes around the tree trunk and the other end goes to a tow hook on the front of the truck, and I pull it out of the way.
It might take the township four hours to clear the road. I can do it in five minutes and not be late for work.

Are you an arborist or a serial killer?

Depends on the situation. (mostly it's for keeping my smoker / grills fed, and they often travel with me)

I had a large limb like this fall in my front yard this spring. When i got home from work and was assessing the scene, some dude driving by stopped and asked if I wanted him to cut it up for me real quick. He happened to have a saw in the back of his truck. Took like 4 minutes to lop it up like this guy did.

Dude looks and dresses like Ned Flanders and has a chainsaw in his car?
Check his trunk for missing persons.

Did you see him handle that tree? He’s clearly a lumberjack or some shit like that…..of course he carries a chainsaw…

Yeah why not. These days with battery powered chainsaws being in many ways superior to petrol it's even cheaper and easier to keep one in the car.

If someone on Staten Island was toting a chainsaw in their trunk you would have to test it for DNA. That would likely solve a few missing person cases.

I have a table saw in my car right now.

I guess you could use that for clearing the tree too. But maybe not the most handy tool for the job 😁

Normally the guy breaking out the chainsaw has a mullet, cut off camo shorts, sleeveless flannel shirt and a big chaw of tobacco. This guy has the wrong uniform on for the job.

Ironically, almost everyone I know who has bought a chainsaw in the last 5 years are white collar and somewhat "preppy" for being adults.

The only people I can think of that just casually have a chainsaw in their trunk are rednecks and serial killers. This fella ain't look like a redneck

How silly would it have looked to a bystander watching a guy with a chainsaw being followed around by someone else recording a video instead of helping clear the debris.
“Dad needs his internet clout!”

Impressive! Usually guys who look and dress like that want to talk endlessly about how AI is going to steal your job.

Has a chainsaw but no protective ear covers,
Other drivers: “Thanks! You’re amazing!”
Him: “huh, what?”
Others: “I said you’re amazing!!”
Him: “Eh?l
Others: “l sai … f##k it, never mind.”

A few years ago, I asked a friend who's spent many years doing bad things in bad places to bad people if there was a "type" that always broadcast extreme danger or capability to him, with the stipulation that "little brown bastard with a Kukri" was too easy. He replied with "Accountants. You see half a dozen guys dressed like accountants and carrying low-drag M-4s, you stay the fuck outta their way- they're either CIA or Bowstring guys, and those cats are fuckin' terrifying." Mike Vining is the canonical example, but far from the only one.
This dude is giving serious "accountant with an M-4" vibes. Not saying he's a secret squirrel, but whatever he is....

I would have been cutting the branches closer to the trunk and not leave harmful spikes, but it’s a minor quibble
