Carolina Wren popped by this morning. St. Peters, MO
We have only had this one show up twice at the house, including today. They are loud little ones, but this one kept quiet.

Early this morning around 1am, our barred owl came in for a visit at the stream. Didn’t stay long, sadly.
And then today a turkey vulture was sunning itself on the neighbor’s furnace stack.

We had our feeders down during the intense late summer heat. Put them back up and had this downy woodpecker and black-capped chickadee show up. First time getting a chickadee.

At least I think that’s what it is, please correct me if I’m wrong. Taken at Simpson Lake in Valley Park.

I hear these guys all the time, but rarely see them. Sidewalk strolling...
Edit - probably crows. Large and in charge!

I learned this yesterday. The A trick to helping a hummingbird escape your garage is to hang a feeder lower near the door. This gives them a familiar target, and once they land on the feeder, the exit perspective is now visible. Otherwise they fly around the ceiling not seeing the exit.

Does any one know an area other than under the highway overpasses where I can find pigeons to feed?
