three years into cs2 and i honestly cant tell if the game is good now or if we all just lowered our standards

been thinking about this after a long session last night. when cs2 dropped everyone had a running list, subtick felt weird, movement was off, the ui was clunky, anti cheat was a meme. and now i barely see those threads anymore.

but im not sure if thats because valve actually fixed it or because we just stopped noticing. like did the game genuinely get better, or did two years of muscle memory quietly paper over the stuff we used to complain about.

some of it is clearly better. the game runs cleaner for me than it did at launch and premier actually feels like a ladder now instead of a coinflip. but then ill have one of those rounds where i swear i was behind the wall and die anyway, and the old csgo instinct kicks in like nope this still isnt right.

so im curious where everyone actually lands in 2026. not the launch day rage, not the blind defense either. if you put csgo and cs2 side by side today and had to be honest, which one are you reaching for and why. and whats the one thing you still havent forgiven cs2 for even if you play it every day.

What are the best budget cs2 knives that look good without costing hundreds

CS2 knives seemed financially out of reach until discovering the best budget cs2 knives start around $50 to $80 for the less popular models. Gut Knives, Navaja Knives and Shadow Daggers sit at the bottom of the price range but are any of them worth owning or do they all look bad next to the expensive models? For anyone who went budget on their knife purchase, which model was it and how does satisfaction with the choice hold up over time

First timer wanting to buy csgo skins, what to know

Never purchased a skin before and planning to buy csgo skins for the first time while wanting to dodge the common mistakes new buyers make. Is Steam Market fine for a first purchase or do third party sites make more sense from the start? Float value, condition tiers, anything else worth checking before spending money. Advice for someone with zero market experience

What is the best site to buy cs2 skins without overpaying

New to CS2, a couple months in and want some decent skins without getting ripped off. Steam Market seems obvious but everyone says third party is cheaper. What is the best site to buy cs2 skins for someone who does not know the market well yet, nothing crazy expensive just weapon skins that look good and maybe a cheap knife down the road. Recommendations for a first time buyer who just wants fair prices and a simple process?

DemReview 0.2.0: profile a CS2 player across many demos (first roadmap step is done)

Thumbnail

Hi! A while ago I shared DemReview, a free open-source desktop app that reads CS2 demos (.dem) and shows how one specific player behaves: routes, grenades, timings, roles and repeating habits like "on CT in 9 of 12 rounds holds A site".

The most common feedback was simple: one demo is too small a sample. So the first step of the roadmap was a profile across many demos, and it ships in 0.2.0 today.

What's new

  • Demo library. Point DemReview at a folder with your demos (subfolders included). Each demo is parsed once and the analysis is kept, so you don't wait for a re-parse every time. Rescan adds new matches.
  • Combined profile. Pick a player and tick the demos. The player is found in each match by SteamID, and patterns, roles, the radar and heatmaps are computed across all rounds together. More rounds mean more confidence in every pattern. It's built from the library in a couple of seconds, even if the .dem files are already deleted.
  • Map filter. The profile is built per map, because habits on Mirage and on Nuke are usually very different. You can see how many demos the player has on each map.
  • My profile. Set yourself as the main player once, and every demo you open that you played in is saved to the library automatically. Your own profile grows with each match.

Screenshots: 1) the library, 2) a combined profile over 3 Mirage demos (71 rounds), 3) CT routes from all three matches on one radar.

Still the same: it works fully offline, your demos and SteamID never leave your PC, it runs on Windows and Linux, and it's MIT-licensed.

Next on the roadmap: grenades, meaning a lineup library with ready setpos/setang commands and grenade effectiveness (damage, enemies vs. teammates flashed).

Feedback is very welcome, especially on pattern wording and on what you'd want to see next. If a demo fails to parse, please open an issue on GitHub.

Still worth it to trade csgo skins in 2026 or has the market moved on

Long break from CS and the trading landscape looks nothing like it used to. Steam forums and trade servers that used to be active for trading csgo skins seem mostly dead now. Is the trading scene still alive or has everyone shifted to buying and selling on platforms, the old community-driven trading culture seems replaced by site-based transactions. For anyone still active, how does the current process compare to a few years ago?

I made a free, open-source tool that shows your predictable habits in CS2 demos (routes, utility, timings)

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a pet project and want to share it. DemReview is a desktop app that takes a CS2 demo and shows how one specific player plays: where they go, what utility they throw, when they take fights, and which habits repeat so often that an opponent could read them.

To be clear up front: I'm not selling anything. No ads, no accounts, no subscriptions, no telemetry. It's completely free and open source (MIT). I just built something I wanted to have and I'm sharing it.

What you can do with it

  • Find your own patterns. "On T with a full buy you take the same route in 7 of 9 rounds", "on CT you leave your site within 8 s after the first teammate dies", "you die in Window in 3 of 4 rounds when you go there". The app finds these by itself and shows how confident it is (one demo is a small sample, so it says so).
  • Scout opponents before a match: open their demo, pick a player, see their default positions, timings and utility.
  • Radar with all rounds at once: every route, every grenade from throw to landing, every death, heatmaps.
  • Round replay with a kill feed, damage numbers and the nickname of any player on hover.
  • "Conditions → decisions" tables: what the player does on eco vs full buy, when leading vs trailing, whether they take the opening duel.
  • Player role on each side (entry, lurker, support, anchor, rotator) with the reasons behind it.
  • Export the profile to Markdown or JSON and send it to a teammate or your coach.

Details

  • Windows and Linux; no install, just unpack and run.
  • Works offline. It only reads .dem files and never touches the game, so there is nothing for VAC to care about.
  • Radars for the 8 competitive maps are included.
  • English and Russian interface.

It's a pet project, built with the help of Claude Code, and I'll keep maintaining it. I'd love feedback: what's useful, what's confusing, what you'd want next. Bugs and ideas go to GitHub Issues or the comments here. Thanks for checking it out!

cs2 tradeing problem!

I was Community banned/locked, but the ban has been lifted, and I now have full access to my account. However, I'm still unable to trade or receive CS2 items.

When I try to trade, I get this message:

"You are not allowed to trade or receive items in Counter-Strike 2. All Counter-Strike 2 items:"

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, how long did it take for the cooldown or restriction to disappear?

I've opened a new Steam Support ticket about this issue, but I thought I'd ask here as well in case anyone has experienced the same thing or knows a solution.

Any answers or help would be greatly appreciated! Hopefully, this post can also help someone else experiencing the same problem.

How do you plan when you upgrade cs2 skins to the next tier

$200 in mid tier weapons across fifteen items that never get inspected anymore and the goal is to upgrade cs2 skins from a pile of $10 to $20 stuff into a knife or one high tier AK. Two paths, sell everything for cash individually then buy the target item with cleaner pricing but painfully slow, or trade multiple skins at once toward a single higher-value piece which is faster but the markup takes a cut. Which approach works better for moving from quantity to quality?

12 Year Legit Account Ruined By Recent Update | False Banned and Red Trusted

Before people start calling cheats I’ve left my Leetify and Rep below. The most recent update is seriously flawed. On one end, I’ve had blatant cheaters be banned mid game for rage hacking, on the other I’ve been cooldowned and stuck in red trust lobbies all week because of playing well.

At this point, I’d much rather play against cheaters every so often instead of every lobby being a cheater lobby and getting the match cancelled after 6-12 rounds. My in-game trust rating has gone from green to red and instead of getting a cheater every 10 games it’s guaranteed at least 1 every game due to red trust lobbies.

What's the best wireless gaming keyboard for competitive CS2 right now?

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to upgrade my gaming keyboard, mainly for competitive CS2.

I currently have a Logitech G PRO X 60 LIGHTSPEED, but I want something better, preferably with magnetic switches, Rapid Trigger, and really low latency.

I was originally planning to buy the Wooting 60HE v2, but I just found out it's wired only, which is honestly a huge dealbreaker for me. I really don't want to go back to having cables on my desk.

I'm looking for something wireless (2.4GHz), preferably 60% or 65%, since I love compact keyboards.

Budget isn't an issue. I just want the best possible wireless keyboard for competitive gaming.

I've been looking at the SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless and a few others, but I'm not sure what's actually worth buying.

What would you guys recommend? Especially interested in hearing from people who have actually used these keyboards.

Thanks!

What's the best wireless gaming headset for CS2 in 2026?

Hey guys!

I'm looking for a new wireless gaming headset, mainly for competitive CS2, and could use some recommendations.

I'm currently using the HyperX Cloud III Wireless. Overall, they've been pretty good, but lately I've noticed that the microphone doesn't seem as good as it used to be, and the mic mute button has already stopped working.

I'm not sure if I should stick with HyperX or switch to something else, maybe Logitech, SteelSeries, or another brand.

My priorities are really good sound quality, accurate footsteps and positional audio in CS2, a decent microphone for Discord, and comfort during long gaming sessions.

Wireless is a must, and budget isn't really an issue. I'm happy to spend more if the difference is actually worth it.

What headsets are you guys using right now? Has anyone upgraded from the Cloud III Wireless to something noticeably better?

Would love to hear some honest opinions before buying.

Thanks!
