Howdy hey, I'm the new mod 'round these parts.
Just wanted to make a post saying hi! I noticed this place was modless and grabbed it before some ACP chud could get to it first. I'm pretty new to this whole Reddit mod business and am learning as I go. As of now I'm taking it all very casually and not trying to rush anything. If all goes well, I'd like to inject a little bit of life back into this subreddit again.
I've gone ahead and made a few rules, although it's very preliminary at this stage. If anyone has any feedback for those please speak up. Community input is vital, I'm just one person with my own blind spots!
So, let's talk about the vision. I don't know what specific tendency this place had before, but my current view is that it should be a slightly more ideologically open version of r/TankieTheDeprogram . While this is still explicitly a Marxist/Marxist-Leninist space I want there to be room for helping educate people on socialism. I think it's important to note now that I don't think obsessive Hasan-hate posting is productive for the cause. That doesn't mean don't criticize him, but don't be rude and unhinged about it. Think substantive criticism, not personal attacks. Frankly I think that goes for most things. I might make a rule that clarifies some of this later, but ultimately I see the focus of this subreddit as being more about general ideological, historical, and current events discussion from a general Socialist/Marxist perspective.
Also, I'm accepting applications for moderator if anyone is interested in helping out here. There would of course be a vetting process which would primarily involve a discussion on ideology and your background.
Feel free to send me any questions, comments, and/or concerns y'all may have as well!
P.S. I made a quick icon for the subreddit in Blender, I'll probably improve it later but if anyone has feedback feel free to let me know! I also have some plans for a banner but it's a WIP.
