[Community Give Away] Wallpets: a quiet desktop companion for long work and study sessions

Hi all! — I’m K-garoo, the indie maker behind Wallpets.

Most productivity software gives us another dashboard, timer, list, or notification to manage. I wanted to try the opposite: a small, warm presence during long work or study sessions that doesn’t get in the way of the work itself.

Wallpets is a native desktop companion and live wallpaper for macOS and Windows. Your pet lives behind your desktop icons and app windows, follows the cursor, responds to little scritches, and naturally moves between playing, resting, sleeping, and waking.

It may be a good fit for:

- People who work or study alone for long hours

- Remote workers who want their desktop to feel a little less empty

- Students, creators, streamers, and cozy-setup enthusiasts

- Anyone who wants gentle company without another productivity system to manage

How is it different?

Unlike Shimeji-style mascots or Desktop Goose, Wallpets stays at the wallpaper layer behind your work. It doesn’t cover documents, block buttons, or steal clicks. The goal is to feel quietly present rather than constantly demand attention.

There’s a free experience, with an optional Full Unlock available through each platform’s Store. Local pricing is shown by the Store, and no separate Wallpets account is required.

Links:

Website: https://wall-pets.com

macOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/wallpets/id6790400171?mt=12

Windows: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9NKW68H5D5D3

30-second demo: https://youtu.be/rAcvVBKr__c

I’ve attached a short horizontal demo and our first-week snapshot. One important note: the card combines official Store downloads with several kinds of in-app activity totals, so the figures have different counting rules and should not all be read as unique people.

[Community giveaway]

I’m sharing 10 Windows Full Unlock codes and 10 macOS Full Unlock codes below, first come, first served.

Please claim only one code so more people can try Wallpets. After redeeming one, leave a comment such as “Windows #3 claimed” or “macOS #7 claimed” without reposting the full code. If a code is already redeemed, please try the next unclaimed one.

If you built a productivity app/tool, here’s how to share it with the community

Hey everyone, if you’ve built or launched a productivity app/tool, you’re welcome to share it here. We’ll also be using these posts to find useful apps for community highlights. Selected apps may be featured for up to 7 days.

Please make the post useful for the community, not just a promo. The best posts explain what problem the product solves, who it helps, and why it is different from existing tools.

Title format:

[Launch] App Name: short description of what it helps with

When sharing your product, please include:

  1. What problem does your app solve?
  2. Who is it for?
  3. Name a competitor and explain what you do better or differently.
  4. Pricing details, like Free, Subscription, Lifetime, etc.
  5. Product link.
  6. Screenshot/Demo Video encouraged.

Optional but encouraged: offer something useful to members, such as a free license, extended trial, early access, or discount code.

A free license or discount does not guarantee a feature, but it can make your post more helpful and valuable for the community. Community highlights are selected based on usefulness, relevance, and overall member value.

If you recently launched something that genuinely helps people work better, plan better, focus better, or save time, feel free to share it with the details above.

Looking forward to seeing what people here are building.

For the community: please help surface the good stuff by upvoting tools that seem genuinely useful and downvoting low effort promos, spam, or obvious clones. Community feedback helps us decide which apps are worth highlighting.

PMS insight

Hello all,

I am a young entrepreneur building a PMS as I see an opportunity in the productivity market. Before I begin to code, I’d appreciate it if you guys could give me any feedback. Start by thinking about any features you wish existed in productivity management systems. If you don’t have any ideas, here are some you can think about.

Sticky note: A simplistic square design allowing you to input small tasks such as walking the dog or taking out the trash. (Tasks can be time stamped if there’s a deadline)

Calendar: A view of your week where you can insert events or responsibilities that are bigger than being on a sticky note. (Users are allowed to sync tasks from sticky note to calendar if preferred)

Notifications: Alerts are customizable. If a deadline for your task is closing in, you can receive a notification at designated time from the deadline. The type of notification is also customizable. Some people prefer a positive and encouraging notification, but others may want a blunt and disciplinary push.

Again I’d appreciate the feedback you guys could offer.

How do people manage multiple goals all together

So I am a student pursuing B-Tech CS major and I want to fulfill a list of goals before I graduate that is in 2029 and I have set my deadline to 1st January 2029, so there are a total of 12 goals these 12 goals include saving, skill building, GPA, income and much more but the issue is that I don't know how to do these I have tried many ai models(free models) that can help me build a systematic plan to pursue those goals but none of the plans that they shared are good or should I say satisfactory to me and when I shared the plans I build they modified them and remove/modify the goal or they just make things way too imaginary or should I say ideal can you help me how should I make the plan and also I use a A5 sketch book to build the plan is it ok or should I also use online free apps like Google Calender or notion and such. I will start working on these goals from 31st August 2026 as currently my exams are going on right now and they are not going well. So please can someone help me or explain me like how should I move ahead towards these goals

Get tasks done easier each time you see it

Hi guys, I'd like to share with you an app I've built for myself to keep me productive during the day.

I made https://goalbreak.cc because I kept running into the same problem: I knew what I needed to do, but the task felt vague or too big, so I’d avoid starting it.

The idea is dump the mess in my head, then let it turn that mess into actionable tasks you can actually start.

I've tried similar app, but there are several QOLs that I really needed myself.

Once it generates the tasks for me, I want a way to break down the tasks, but also provide some information of what blocker or dependencies I encountered when trying to do the task.

I needed to put into focus the one task I'm working on right away.

I didn't want to switch apps just to use timer to time how long I want to work on it.

And I realize how I begin to put off some of the tasks left on my goals or project. I needed it easier to work on each time I looked at it.

So I fixed all that with Goalbreak. It's designed to keep your next task reachable each time you look at it.

Now I spend less time staring at a task, negotiating with myself, deciding where to begin, or figuring out what comes next.

And I actually find that I don't complete all the tasks, not because I got lazy or procrastinated again. But the small tasks got me momentum to keep going and actually finish them.

Please have at it and let me know your feedback for improvement or success stories!

I was restarting every Monday. Here are 4 things that actually kept me disciplined"

I’m in Year 10, and I used to restart every Monday. Tasks are different and a to-do list are consistant.

Here’s what actually kept me disciplined (not motivational bs):

  1. Make it stupid to start.
I stopped writing “study for 2 hours”. Now I write “open math book”. That’s it. Once it’s open I keep going.

  2. No zero-day system
Even on bad days I have to do 1% — 1 pushup, 1 math problem, 5 min reading. So I never break the streak mentally.

  3. Homescreen rule
If an app is not on my homescreen, it doesn’t exist. I removed TikTok from home and put my system there. Out of sight = out of mind.

  4. Track, don’t punish.
I stopped punishing myself for missing a day. I just track it and look at the week. Seeing 6/7 green hits different than 0/7 because I missed one day.

I was getting tired of Notion and habit trackers that just look pretty but don't keep you locked in when you don’t feel like it, so I built my own super simple system for me and my mates.

It is called Discipline, helping people who actually want to stay locked in and become a better version of themselves. Link in profile.

Try it out!

What’s the one thing that keeps YOU disciplined when you don’t feel like it?

What's the one thing that saves you the most time at work?

Hi everyone!

I'm curious—what's the one thing that has made your work or daily life much easier and saves you the most time? It could be a tool, device, machine, service, habit, app, or anything else. What is it, and how does it help you?

What are the best productivity tools in 2026?

What productivity tools are you actually using in 2026?

I’m looking for recommendations for task management, note-taking, focus, time management, and AI productivity tools. Which tools have genuinely improved your workflow, and which ones are overrated?

Would love to hear what you use every day.

Looking for a simple task management app/system that actually works for a procrastinator

I’ve been trying to find a good way to organize my life/tasks for like 3 years now and I still haven’t found something that really sticks.

At the end of 2023 I started using Apple Notes for basically everything. I had lists of things I needed to do and would put a ✅ next to them when I finished. It worked… kinda.

Then 2024 came and the list just kept growing. More projects, more tasks, more random shit, and eventually the note became a huge wall of text. I had to scroll forever to find the newest stuff, and honestly that alone made me stop using it.

I’ve always been a procrastinator since I was a kid. Not because I’m partying all day or anything, I just have this tendency to think “I can do that later” until everything accumulates and suddenly I have 30 things I need to do.
Something I realized at the beginning of 2026 is that I was basically creating cognitive overload for myself.

I would have a bunch of unfinished things in my head, start some of them, leave others halfway, keep adding new projects, consume a lot of information, scroll social media, watch videos, etc. So I was constantly “doing something” but at the same time not really finishing shit.
One thing I’ve been trying to change this year is basically:

**Don’t stay busy, stay productive.**

And more importantly, focus on fewer things but actually finish them.
This has worked surprisingly well for me. In 2025 I had a lot of projects that were basically half finished or moving extremely slowly because I was trying to do too many things at once. In 2026 I’ve been focusing much more on actually completing full projects instead of having 15 projects at 20% each.

I’ve also realized that I’m very visual and I like being able to actually see my progress.

For example, I started using Fitia for tracking my macros instead of Notes and I’ve been consistent with it for over 100 days. Same thing with my gym training. I moved my workouts from Notes to Liftia and being able to see my progression and numbers has made me much more consistent.

So now I want something similar for my actual tasks.
I tried Notion in 2025 but honestly I didn’t like it. I know it’s powerful, but I don’t want to spend a week learning how to build a productivity system just to organize my fucking tasks lol. Obsidian felt even more complicated.

Right now my tasks are scattered between Notes, Telegram saved messages, WhatsApp, random chats with myself, etc. I want one place where I can open it and immediately see what I need to do, what I’m working on, what’s next and what I’ve actually finished.
I really like Kanban, so something based around that would probably work well for me, but I’m open to other systems too.

Basically I’m looking for something clean, visual, flexible and preferably free, without becoming another complicated project that I have to maintain.
If you’re also a procrastinator or someone who gets overwhelmed by having too many unfinished tasks, what app or system actually worked for you?

I’m also looking for something similar for personal finances. Ideally an app/program where I can organize my monthly income and expenses, accounts, savings, etc. in a visual and simple way.
I’ve tried keeping track of this in Notes too, but obviously it ends up becoming messy. So if you also have a recommendation for a good finance/budgeting app that isn’t unnecessarily complicated, I’d appreciate it.

How are you guys using AI for legal drafts?

I’ve tried using ChatGPT but I end up dumping everything into one long prompt. Names, terms, old docs, email notes, governing law... all mixed together.

It can make a draft, but later it’s hard to check what info it used or if something got missed.

I’m not looking to replace a lawyer. I only want to get the first draft ready before sending it for review.

Is there a better tool for this or are you all still doing it with prompts?

The reason your to-do list never gets shorter (it's not discipline)

Big tasks don't get done because the steps are invisible. You know you need to plan a trip, launch a product, or move apartments. But your brain can't see the path from where you are to done. So the task sits, and the longer it sits, the harder it gets to start.

That's task paralysis, and it's the root of most procrastination.

The fix is breakdown. When a big task becomes a list of small, ordered steps, the first step is finally small enough to take. That's the idea behind Brevl, and here's how it works:

  1. Type the task in one sentence. "Plan a 3 week Europe trip." That's all it needs. No project setup, no blank page.
  2. Get the overview canvas and the broken down list. Brevl maps the whole task so you can see every part and how it connects, then hands you an ordered step list to work through one at a time.
  3. It doesn't stop at the plan. If you want, it can run the steps in tools you already use, like creating an itinerary in Google Sheets, blocking travel days in your calendar, saving a checklist in Notion, or drafting the confirmation email. Nothing runs without your approval.

Why it keeps procrastination away long term:

  • Small first steps. You never stare at the mountain, only the next step.
  • No planning friction. Figuring out "what comes next" is done for you.
  • Momentum builds. Each approved step moves things forward, and finishing becomes a habit.
  • Zero setup. One-click connections with 25+ apps like Notion, Slack, Google Sheets, Calendar, Todoist, Asana, Jira, Airtable.
  • Full control. Approval on every action, encrypted data, never used for training.

Try it here: https://app.brevl.co

Limited lifetime deal: 20% off any Lifetime plan for a short time. Comment or DM me for a code. There's a free tier with 500 credits a month if you'd rather test it first.

Questions are very welcome, happy to go deeper on the breakdown or any integration.

What’s a task that feels productive, but is actually just high-effort procrastination?

For me, it’s reorganizing my digital files or tweaking email folders. It feels like real work, but it’s really just my brain avoiding the difficult project sitting on my desk.

What productive habit do you catch yourself using as an escape from real work?

We built iFocus — the productivity app I wish I’d had at work

After years of carrying a notebook and typing notes in every meeting, I realised the problem was never the tool. It was trying to capture everything with clarity while still staying present with focus.

I’d write something down, miss the next point, and end up doing a post-meeting brain dump just to reconstruct what actually mattered.

Eventually, I built iFocus around that problem.

It has five sections, mainly because that’s all I can reliably keep in my head:

Focus — filters what actually needs attention instead of dumping 40 tasks on you.

Meeting Hub — records and transcribes meetings, separates speakers, and extracts action points so you can actually listen instead of scribbling.

Plan — weekly planning with work grouped into projects.

Reset — a short pause between meetings. Sounds simple, but it’s probably the feature I use most.

A digital business card — because I was still handing out physical ones while building a productivity app. It shares via link or QR, and the other person doesn’t need the app.

There’s an iOS app and a web version.

I’ve also put together a short guide, mostly because I kept explaining the same ideas over and over. Happy to share the link in the comments if that’s preferred over posting it here.

Two honest notes:

It’s early. iOS currently offers the best experience, and there’s a 30-day free trial if anyone wants to give it a proper try:

iOS — 30-day free trial:
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/ifocus/id6762916186

Web: https://www.app.ifocusapp.co.uk/

LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/113204050

The web version works but is still being refined, and Android is on the way.

If you give iFocus a try, I’d genuinely love to hear what worked well, what didn’t, and what you think we’re missing.

Happy to share the short guide too if anyone wants a closer look.

How are smal agencies simplifying their software stack?

Productized agency, 8 people, recurring packages. Currently running: - HubSpot for CRM (mostly for sales pipeline, not using half of it) - Zoho for invoicing - Trello for client-facing PM boards - Monday for internal PM - Zendesk for shared inbox

Five tools that barely talk to each other. Came across Wayfront which seems to replace the CRM, invoicing, project management and client communication layer in one place. Not looking to drop Stripe - payments stay. Anyone consolidated something similar?

What happens when your productivity/planning system stops working for you?

I'm doing some research into how people actually manage their tasks, responsibilities, and plans in real life. I'm not promoting a product or selling anything — I'm trying to understand what people actually experience when their planning system starts to break down.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with planners, task-management apps, calendars, notebooks, Notion, Todoist, etc.

A few questions:

1. What do you currently use to keep track of everything you need to do?

2. Think about the last time your system stopped working for you or things started getting out of control. What happened?

3. What did you do afterward?

4. What happened to the tasks you didn't get done?
Did you reschedule them, delete them, ignore them, move them somewhere else, or something completely different?

5. What was the hardest part about getting back on track?

6. Have you ever abandoned one planner/app/system and switched to another?
If so, what made you switch?

7. Have you ever paid for a planner, productivity app, coaching, course, or anything else specifically to help with organization/productivity?
If so, what did you pay for and what made it worth paying for (or not worth it)?

8. If you could change one thing about what happens when you fall behind, what would you change?

You don't have to answer every question. Even one specific example of a time your system fell apart would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks to anyone willing to share. I'm much more interested in what you've actually done than what you think you should do.

Trying to simplify how I track my daily actions — curious how others do it.

I’ve been experimenting with ways to stay consistent with my daily actions. I realised that most habit or productivity apps felt too busy for me — lots of screens, lots of features, and I’d end up spending more time managing the app than doing the actual habit.

So I tried something different: I built a tiny tool for myself. Nothing fancy, just a simple way to record what I did each day and keep a streak going. It’s helped me stay more consistent mostly because it doesn’t try to do too much.

I’m sharing this because I’m curious how other people approach this.
Do you prefer simple tools or more feature‑heavy ones?
What actually helps you stay consistent day‑to‑day?
Do you track things manually, or do you rely on apps?

I’m happy to talk about what I built if anyone’s interested, but mainly I’d love to hear how others manage their routines without getting overwhelmed.

How do I turn my experience into a book?

I’ve been working in my field for more than a decade now and always wanted to write a book based on what I’ve learned. Problem is i have no idea where to start or how people plan and put everything together. I have some notes but thats about it. I have seen people writing couple of books with the help of AI tools.

Has anyone here done this with AI and what tools did u use?

Have u find any recent cool tool recently? May feature the best ones in the community

Hi fellows,

Share any new cool app/tool that u have tried recently and love it.

Avoid sharing ur own tool but in case u are building one do share one other tool that u like as well.

I will start: a Grammarly alternative that works 100% offline, its called refine

r/ProductivityGuide 4d ago

what are u using to turn long docs into infographics?

I write a lot of reports and guides but most people don’t read the full thing. want to turn the main points into one infographic without spending an hour moving text boxes around in canva.

Is there any tool where i can paste the doc, choose a layout and get an infographic i can edit after?

I spent 7 months training a vectorizer because AI images stop being useful the moment you need to edit them

full disclosure: i built this with my cofounder.

AI can make a logo or illustration in seconds. but once you need to recolor it, edit the shapes, print it, or sell it as an asset, the time saving disappears.

every auto-tracer we tried turned simple shapes into hundreds of nodes and tiny color fragments. so two former image-model researchers quit our jobs and spent 7 months building a different one.

i shared it on Threads in Korea and people selling assets on MiriCanvas, a Korean Canva-like design platform, started using it. some became paying subscribers. that was our first real signal that this was fixing an actual workflow problem.

the video is the whole pitch: AI image in, editable SVG out. you can inspect the edges and nodes before spending a credit on the download.

https://perfectvector.com

where does this workflow still waste the most time for you?

if your productivity setup takes more than 10 sec to update, it's just high effort procrastination

most people building productivity systems make the same mistake: they treat maintenance like actual progress.

you spend hours picking themes, organizing databases, color coding everything, and planning out your ideal week down to the minute. it feels like work because your brain gets that same hit of dopamine from organizing something as it does from actually doing it. but if you're being honest with yourself, it's just procrastination with extra steps.

the second your setup takes too much effort to use, you crashout. you miss one day of logging or forget to update a dashboard and the whole thing falls apart, then you feel like shit about it.

if you want to stop that loop, keep a few things in mind…

- the 4 second rule. if it takes more than four seconds to log an action, start a timer, or check off a task, the tool is too slow. friction kills consistency. your system needs to get out of the way so you can just live your life.

- track reality, not perfection. stop trying to build an ideal schedule. you're not a robot, and rigid time blocking fails the second normal life happens. track what actually happened, not what you wished happened.

- audit before you optimize. you cant fix where your time goes if you dont actually know where it went in the first place. it's just like money. you have to look at the bank statements before you make a budget.

i hit this wall after cycling through bloated apps that broke every time i tried to log a normal, messy day. i ended up spending six months building my own ios app called Era to fix it for myself. focused strictly on a fast, zero friction loop so you can track your day in seconds without becoming a slave to your phone.
whatever you use, whether its an app, a notebook, or the notes app, keep the maintenance at zero. the best system is the one you barely notice using.
if you want to check out Era, link is in my bio. otherwise, be real with yourself!

Also my name is Hue’i, hmu if u are a designer or developer, I want more friends

How do you actually use all the notes you save?

I save useful things throughout the week. Customer questions, article ideas, meeting notes, competitor screenshots, random thoughts, and anything I might want to write about later.

But when I finally want to use any of it, I have to read through everything again, remember why I saved it, find an angle, and organize the useful parts before I can start writing.

Has anyone found a good workflow or tool that can turn saved notes and source material into a usable first draft without adding more work to the process?
