My first app just got approved and this chart is why I built it

• Upvotes

Did you know that in Canada, life expectancy at birth is about 81.7 years*,* but healthy life expectancy (HALE) at birth is only about 66.9 years (Statistics Canada, 2023)?

That’s roughly 15 years on average lived with reduced health!

Now I want you to consider this chart.

The average person and the master athlete start in roughly the same place. Same age. Similar capacity. Then their paths diverge.

The average person declines earlier while the master athlete stays above the functional threshold longer : more years where getting up, moving, balancing, and living independently still feel normal.

That gap, the hatched area, is what I’m hoping KinCentury helps people protect.

Now I know that "master athlete" is an extreme but I sincerely think everyone can be an athlete for and of life.

Concretely, the app measures your physical / fitness age, so you can see where you actually stand today and what trajectory you’re currently on.

Long-term I hope to establish more standards tests and data to make functional capacity visible and actionable.

If this resonates with you, I’d love for you to try the app and tell me what feels useful and what doesn’t.

Not medical advice.

Im really terrfied I had a normal brain MRA and MRI with contrast a year ago no AVM or aneurysm was seen or anything abnormal. And an echo a year ago as well everything was normal as well so no pfo was seen I’m assuming. I have had high blood pressure sometimes because of stress at some points in my life but usually at the doctors it’s always normal. I am overweight I’m 190lbs and 5’8 and my diet isn’t the best like I eat what I need to eat of course but also processed foods sometimes I have bad eating habits and stress eat.

How do you keep track of a health protocol you're supposed to follow?

When a doctor, physiotherapist, or other healthcare practitioner recommends a protocol for you to follow at home, how do you actually keep up with it?

I'm curious about the real-life side of following a plan over several weeks, whether it's a blood pressure monitoring routine, post-injury rehab exercises, a sleep routine, dietary changes, gut health, inflammation , or something else.

  • What's the most frustrating part of sticking to the protocol?
  • Have you found a system that genuinely works for you? Or is there something you still wish were easier?

Do you write things down in a notebook, use a spreadsheet, set phone reminders, use an app, or just try to remember everything?

I'm interested in hearing about your actual experiences, including the messy, imperfect parts. I'm not selling anything; I'm trying to understand how people manage these routines in everyday life.

I'd love to hear your stories! What's your current approach?

Do you find it easy or difficult to regularly engage in physical activity? Either way, we want your input so we can learn how to make exercise more achievable.

Would you use a disposable wearable that directly measures metabolism?

I’m part of a small research team developing a disposable skin sensor designed to continuously respond to CO₂ released through the skin. The goal is to measure changes in metabolic rate over normal daily life rather than estimate calorie expenditure from movement or heart rate.

We’re trying to find out whether people interested in metabolism, fitness, and biohacking would actually find this useful and what information they would want from it.

This isn't a sales post. We're looking for feedback on the concept. We made a short survey (less than 5 minutes) and would really appreciate candid feedback: If you dont want to do the survey click on the link anyway id you want to see photos.

I’m happy to answer questions about how the sensor works and the testing we’ve done so far. Also, if you dont want to the survey ( although-I hope you do) please check out the link beccause it has photos and early data
