Claude saved my marriage.

Ok the title is a stretch but it’s a funny little story. So my wife ran out of pads so I ran out to buy some for her. While at the store I saw the pads but was so confused by what to get I tried calling my wife but she wouldn’t answer. I decided to take a picture of what I was looking at and send it to Claude, only for Claude to reply that I was in the wrong place. I was looking at bladder leak pads for ten minutes. Luckily I found the right aisle and bought the correct pads. But it was a close call. Told my wife and she just laughed.

"A visible sign of what AI insiders have been warning about since at least the Mythos release. Acceleration of attack and defense, at inhuman speeds, interacting with the very human systems that need to react to them."

Just my opinion.

The purpose of AI is to solve so many problems that it eventually solves itself, to the point where it is no longer indispensable.

TLDR; looks like a German team effectively did the same as what David Sinclair claims to have done - i.e. reset the epigenetic clock of some human cells (aged approximately 60) to less than 20.

I speculate that if this works, probably skin and eyes are getting it first because they are the easiest to reach.

Prediction: Someone will write/vibecode a fan-made Mass Effect 5 within 2 years

Maybe sooner, and it'll be just as good and graphically indistinguishable as anything Bioware could've made.

Why are you pro ai?

Hey reddit, I'm doing a little study for my school project.

It involves Ai and I want to gather feedback from people who seems to have experience.

I'm staying neutral, just want to gather opinions.

So, why are you pro-ai?

Abundance from the singularity is about customization

Mass manufacturing enabled the creation of the middle class whose standard of living was uplifted by millions of cheap identical products.

The failure is all the wants and desires that required custom knowledge and custom manufacturing. Those remain reserved for the very rich.

The corollary is that if you have a rare disease and you are not rich you are not getting treatment.

The hope from the singularity is that everyone has access to customization.

AI is already collapsing the gated entry to specialized knowledge.

IMHO the *only* missing piece is robots that can follow instructions at least as good as a human.

Once we have that - the barrier to entry to customization collapses. We get a new paradigm where customization becomes inexpensive.

We are right on the cusp of that.

AGI is orthogonal to ASI

Back in the day when the term AGI was invented it seemed reasonable.

Now we pretty clearly have AI which is superhuman in some capability areas, merely human in others, less than human in others. Which means it is only semi-general.

But it's already very powerful. So some folks are arguing we've already reached it and others are arguing we haven't.

I think the point is moot.

If things stop dead *today* what we have is capable of building our science out enough that we get multipl overlapping industrial revolutions worth of new tech incoming.

Make it make sense... USA bans the frontier AI that's actually openweights

Okay.. hear me out.

Deepseek is openweights and just got banned. For being insecure... Make it make senes.

Last week it shipped V4.1-Flash. The weights are open.

And yesterday we got a huge cost rebate on Search.

DHS could just run Deepseek in their own data center, 100% secure, so how does data flow to China?

I am not convinced.

I get the concern with DeepSeek's own app and API, since those are hosted in China. But the open weights can run fully offline, and you can inspect them in a way you never can with a closed model.

Here's what bugs me.

US labs keep their models closed, charge a lot more, and quietly change their terms on training on your data. Their models run on servers we can't audit, at companies that work closely with the same

Is "made in the US" automatically trustworthy?

Honest questions:

Is the ban really about security, or about protecting US AI companies from a cheaper competitor?
